The Honest Lawyer

Doesn’t even deserve a one rating. My fiancé walked into the bar and asked for a sweet drink like a flavored lemonade, the bartender told him he used the word cocktail and made him a drink with alcohol which he DOES NOT drink. She then became upset when he kindly told her that she misunderstood him, so instead of making him a simple lemonade she had one of the other servers tell him she was «uncomfortable and afraid» of him continuing to sit at the bar. THERE WAS NO CONFRONTATION. The problem is that my fiancé is a 6’5 African American man that just wanted to sit at a bar watch the playoff game and drink his strawberry lemonade. She was unaware that he plays for the Hamilton Tiger-​cats and only wanted a place OUTSIDE of training camp to relax and enjoy the game. He and I will be sure to make the ENTIRE team, trainers, staff, wives and girlfriends aware of this matter and to steer clear of this RACIST establishment.

Not even worth 1star. The Manager is the most condescending, unprofessional person totally undeserving of the title of Manager.
I would highly recommend that no one waste their time or money at this location

Some bartenders will make you wait while they deal with the drunk regulars or her friends or a hot guy. What a fukin joke!!!

The patrons are very sketchy. I do not feel safe eating here. I will not return. Everyone has face piercings, smokes cigarettes, has big tattoos.
Not my kind of place.

Good was good. Had the Pirogies and Chicken Fingers. The waitress was prompt and courteous. English girl from Cambridge. Why I gave it 3 stars instead of 5 was that I was baffled that they had two big projector screens of the Raptors game on, but all that was blaring was Electronica music instead of the game. Think it was one of the waiters iPod night cause he was the only one dancing to it when everyone else was sitting in their seats trying to watch the game. Mind you, I saw him dancing more than serving so it’s best to say that he thinks his dancing skills are better then his service skills.

Food was cold when it was delivered. My boyfriend found glass in his long island ice tea. Took forever to give us our drinks.

Lots of fun here, they have mini bowling lanes, game machines and Potato Hunting Game! If you can find any potatoes, a free fries will be yours. Fei and I had cocktail named Porn Star and Blue lagoon. Next time I will try red headed slut haha. Love it

Awful. Limited selection, overly expensive, their nachos (AND I T’S HARD TO MESS UP NACHOS) were terrible and barely had any cheese on them.
Incredibly slow, the staff are like nice enough but not at all attentive. Complained about our food to the manager who seemed really young and he weirdly offered us free shots of liquor? Idk.

The location is what really makes this bar. It is a good place for a drink before or after a show at Copps Coliseum or Hamilton Place. The wait staff are friendly, but not overly attentive and they struggle to keep some of their drunk patrons in check.
The food however, is serviceable, but not very good. I had the Mountie burger and a poutine. The burger was OK. It was a good sized burger, but the poutine wasn’t any good. I could still taste the oil covering the fries and it tasted like it hadn’t been changed in awhile.

I ordered the safest thing in the menu «Fish and Chips». Let’s just say it took awhile for my order to come in and when it arrived the fish was burned from BUT inside was perfectly cooked!!! Think about that.
When I complained the manage and came over and ask if I want a new order or 50% off. Thanks for give me the options!
Would I come back I’ll say yes for drinks but for food… McDonald and the Works is next door.

Take a look at my picture of «unlimited wings and riblets», it will tell the tale. Three wings and a couple of nasty fried bits that I can only describe as «popcorn pork».
Our waitress did suggest to me that I order a pound of wings, as the kitchen was slow. I said sure, start with a pound then we’ll get more as needed. Turns out she meant a pound instead of all-​you-​can-​eat, also turns out that a pound costs more than all-​you-​can-​eat which is odd. On principle I ordered the all-​you-​can-​eat.
They came out three at a time, with half an hour between each order. Maximum time to eat is 90 minutes. Doing the math backwards that’s not all-​you-​can-​eat, that’s nine wings (if you’re willing to wait that long).
I spoke to the manager, she said that’s how they do it. I gave her an opportunity to describe for me how that was anything but an intentional attempt to rip off their customers before I posted a review online. She basically had no argument to the contrary. Terrible place.
This experience aside, the restaurant was incredibly loud, had bad service, and mediocre food. I don’t do many one-​star reviews but the Honest Lawyer earned it.

Came here after event at Hamilton Place. It wasn’t that busy (maybe half full) with 2 – 3 large groups. Had to sit ourselves. After 20 minutes & asking twice — finally waitress saunters over. No ‘sorry’ just ‘you want drinks’. Took over 30 mins from entry and no drinks. When it finally came — daughters Coke became an Ice Tea and my beer was ¼ foam (Cobblestone Stout from Mill Street — that itself got their 1 star).
Menu had limited things — NOT their online menu!!!
Horrible service — AVOID — go to the Works or Anchor Bar — both seated and served drinks less than 3 mins. Full menu. Good.

Honestly, I did enjoy this place. Ive been in there four or five times, since it’s right down the stairs from work. Luckily, I have found it quite enjoyable.
You can really tell this is a bar based restaurant, because of it’s, yes, somewhat limited menu. But I have found that in the three times I’ve been there this month, it’s quite enjoyable. The bartender there makes excellent CC & 7s as well as other drinks. The food has always been enjoyable to me. I usually get the deep fried– pickle spears, which are excellent, and the third degree wings, which, while the sauce doesn’t live up to it’s name, still taste very good.
The price is very excellent, all things considered.
The only problem I have is with the service. It always seems to get off to a rocky start, but as the time goes by, it gets a little better. There are some servers there who do their job very well, including one of them (and I’m terribly sorry I forgot her name, but she was excellent), and then others who couldn’t give a shit you were there. Service could really be worked on. I know restaurant work sucks, but I just wouldn’t mind if you give a smidgen of a S***.
Other than that, really good, and I look forward to revisiting.

I’ve been to this place a few times and have mainly enjoyed myself each time. The food is good, the nachos are enormous. I’ve had their wings (especially on wing night) and they are excellent and the flavours are very unique. Staff is friendly and outgoing and I would definitely go there again.
My biggest problem with the Honest Lawyer is its atmosphere. The place is just too loud. I can’t hear myself think when I’m in there. They’ve got sports games blaring o the speakers, video games that are loud and annoying. When I’m out with a few buds for drinks, it’s a great place to hang out. If I want to take someone out on a date and have a quiet meal and talk to someone, not the first place I’d pick. It’s hard to talk to someone when you can’t hear them.
If you want to hit a place to eat wings and watch a game with the guys, you can’t go wrong. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat for a group of fellas looking for a great place to watch a playoff game or UFC event. Yet if you’re looking for a place to take a date, I would not recommend the lawyer because it’s just too loud and in your face. While the staff is friendly, your date likely wouldn’t appreciate the way the waitresses are dressed, it’s almost like going to Hooters. Definitely not a place to take a lady friend to if you’re trying to impress…

Here’s the problem: This place is the only show in town if you want to stop for a pint and a bite before an event at Copps Coliseum. The food is TERRIBLE. My wrap was charred and basically inedible (the fries were cold and greasy). In fact, I only ordered it after I was told I couldn’t get a turkey burger because they ran out of buns. The two stars reflect the reasonable beer prices and that the bartender was doing her best — despite being so obviously short staffed.
