The Keg Steakhouse + Bar

Had the garlic baked shrimp starter and the pistachio crusted salmon entrée. Food was delicious and service excellent.

We have been to many kegs, this one is by far the worst of the bunch. Our server was rude and our food was raw. Management was inept. I will never go to this location again.

Excellent service. Hard to find a better fillet mignon. Very expensive. Would get 5 stars if side dish portions were bigger.

It was a great night at the Keg.
We have been to many Keg restaurants over the years and have never received the level of service we did tonight. Our server (Mary Rose) was unbelievable.
She recommended dishes and catered to us non stop (in a good way).
I had the baked salmon which was moist and perfectly cooked. The steamed vegetables were slightly crunchy and very tasty.
My husband had the baseball steak medium rare which was also perfectly cooked. Wonderfully creamy garlic mashed potatoes.
A wonderful cranberry twist martini with a pretty awesome huge square ice cube and real cranberries floating in it topped off the night.
We will definitely be back to this location.

My husband and I received a gift certificate for the Keg and we had not been to the Hamilton location for quite a while. We had excellent service, fabulous drinks and delicious food. The Keg has a great wine list for customers that only wish to have one glass, and you can chose your amount (6 or 9 oz.). I also like the feature of adding seafood to a turf item. We will be going back soon, the casual plates look interesting too. Very satisfied this evening!

The food’s amazing! Great atmosphere and staff! We loved it!

Being that I was staying at the Courtyard Marriott just as short walk away, I was here after dinner every night at the bar sampling the apps. The Tuna Tartare was pretty good (very crisp avocado pieces). I would pass on the Baked Garlic Shrimp. They just weren’t very flavorful. The Scallops and Bacon were pretty tasty, if a bit small. French Onion Soup was good. Tried the Escargot (snails in mushroom caps) and it wasn’t bad. Was my first time having snails. Probably wouldn’t be my go to app, but it was a good way to try snails. The Shrimp Cocktail was nothing to write home about. Says it comes with a ‘zesty’ sauce but there was nothing zesty about it. Just a standard shrimp cocktail. The one night I actually had a meal I had the Prime Rib, and it was good and juicy. The horseradish they give you with it packs a kick, and they’ll warn you ahead of time that it isn’t your ‘standard’ horseradish. If you’ve never been to a Keg before, be warned that it is a bit on the pricey side. I’d compare it to Ruth’s Chris in the states.

Between 2 and 3 stars — the final decision to be only 2 is based on «Would I eat here again?» — no, there are just too many options to eat elsewhere if you really Unilocal around. Being from the states I have always had a hard time with the pricing at The Kegs and rarely eat at one — maybe 2 x over 6 years of coming up here for business. Today, as one of the few choices walkable from my hotel I gave this a shot… everything was fine, as expected but really about 2 x what I would expect to pay for a comparable meal and service. I ate at the bar, the service was good, friendly, well versed on the menu items (Grade B) — the food OK. I got the Small Prime Rib and one beer came to $ 50… The prime rib — really was not «prime» — good also a B grade, etc. As comparison — I am thinking I could have had a better dinner — same small prime rib, at outback for $ 30…

I had a fabulous experience here. We came here to celebrate my friends’ B’day and the food and service were perfect! We ordered the calamari, but the waitress thought we also ordered escargot and brought one out. She removed it from the bill when we casually mentioned we hadn’t ordered it. She told us to keep it and enjoy it, so we did. Both appetizers were awesome! For the main course, we ordered the New York strip loin steak, the Seafood Chicken deluxe, and an order of King Crab legs and Lobster tails. My medium rare steak was cooked to perfection and included sautéed mushroom (no extra charge), the lobster and crab legs were tender, and the chicken was tasty. We all enjoyed our meal. At the end of the meal, the waitress brought out a large complimentary slice of their Billy Miner pie! It was heavenly, and all 4 of us devoured it! I look forward to dining here again the next time I am in Canada! It’s a great place to celebrate a special occasion!

Fantastic food, service and atmosphere. By far the most attentive and accurate service of all restaurants in Hamilton. Been a few times this year; it’s expensive so it’s not a place we go too often, but it’s always a treat to splurge here! The steaks are always amazing, I always order the rib eye. Sides are generous and there are many options, plus their apps are awesome! Wine list is not too bad, could improve the selection of whites, to be really picky. Upper James is the best location in our area, we have always had the best experiences here :)

Visiting Hamilton on a business trip and found this place through Unilocal.The steaks were delicious! I got the sirloin oscar and it was perfect! It came with shrimps and scallops, and while they were small they were extremely tasty. The side caesar was quite yummy too along with the bread and butter. The only downside would be that the waitress was a little slow and normal it would have been fine, but I was in a slight rush, so it wasn’t her fault. The décor and atmosphere of the place was really nice and the food was amazing, I wouldn’t have guessed the place to be a chain restaurant. Overall if you don’t mind paying roughly $ 40 a person, this is a great place for steaks!

I have been to this location twice and had excellent service both times. It is definitely pricey, and I suggest making a reservation if possible! However, we were seated quickly both times without a reservation (15 min was the longest wait). You MUST order a steak if you visit the Keg… the best one is the Filet Mignon (surprise!), but we have had several other dishes at the Keg and enjoyed them as well. Their chicken dishes are well prepared and I’ve never had anything to complain about at this restaurant! This is perfect for an anniversary or other celebration dinner.

Consistent again, as per usual. Had the 20oz tbone from the winter grill menu, prepared medium-​rare. Gave me mashed instead of the baked I ordered, but came back seconds later with the potato I ordered so was left 2 starches to eat. Service very nice, and went later on to avoid crowds 8:15pm. Keg sized caeser’s are ridiculously addicting.
