This place is a must if you’re ever remotely close to the area. A bunch of us drove from Gravenhurst just to grab an ice cream at Kawartha. It was more than worth it! I’m not even a big ice cream person. Usually a couple of spoon-fulls and I’ve had enough. So I ordered a baby cup of Banana Boat. It was a HUGE scoop — anything but«baby». But the ice cream was amazing. Everyone devoured their ice cream. A great place with a great variety of ice cream as well as other dairy products. In an area where«Mom and Pop» country ice cream shops are all over the place, this is the best of the best.

This shakes down simply: Scoops as big as a Rottweiler’s head(and tastier!). Raspberry Thunder(a menacing name, but effectively: delicious black raspberry ripple ice cream). As long as it’s summer, I adopt a never-say-never approach to Kawartha Dairy consumption. It’s great, it’s affordable, it’s flavourful, but not cloyingly sweet or super-rich(this is my internal justification for having multi-scoops). Heck, it’s a Canadian company celebrating 75 years in operation. That alone calls for a celebratory scoop, no? Unilocal note: I’m usually a member of Team Cup, but something about the scoops at Kawartha Dairy make me a Cone devotee. Also: not in Huntsville? Select retailers in the GTA carry Kawartha products(check their website).
