We were looking for somewhere to have a bite to eat after a day skating. Came arcross Louis II restaurant. Wasn’t so sure we walk in. A little out dated décor. Waitress was there promptly to take our order. I had the chicken souvlaki with rice and french fries with greek salad. It was delicious and a large protion i could not finish it. My boyfriend had the ribs with fries rice and purée carrots and caesar salad. The ribs were done to perfection! Fries and rice were also fantastic. The salad had lots of garlic but was still very good. I would go there again, pleasantly surprised.

Was passing by town on our way to Algonquin park, stopped by for breakfast. Three of us, ordered different items off the menu, steak and eggs, eggs benny, and omelette. Your regular local breakfast/diner, nothing fancy, yet nothing disappointing. Probably will go again when we go back to algonquin.

This is my favourite family restaurant in Huntsville. It’s well known for it’s breakfasts but I tended to go primarily for lunch and dinner. It has your typical family fare(burgers, fries, kids meals) but their specialty is Greek food. Louis, the owner, is quite the character, and when he’s around the restaurant really comes to life. The portions are HUGE. Try ordering the soulvaki dinner if you want to see what I mean. My favourite thing to get here is their greek salad. The dressing is clearly not storebought, and I haven’t found a greek salad to rival this one in my life! Anything off their specials menu is a deal, and they really get creative. If you aren’t sure what to get, ask one of the waitresses. Most of them have worked there for ages and are some of the sweetest people in the town –they know their food.

This place used to be good a few years ago. It was the place were the locals would eat. Well, don’t be fooled by this. It is no longer that place where you can get a good old fashioned home cooked meal. The salad comes with dressing in a plastic square. The food is worse than at the airport. A big clue was on Saturday night when the other restaurants(3 men, the Cottage, Maskoka on the rock) they were packed, and this place was empty. Unless you want to be up all night with dry heaves. Stay away.

I am from California and vacation at Lake of Bays every year for 3 weeks. I am writing this review in hopes that Louis’s II will change the current direction. I began eating at this great little diner 4 years ago and the food was excellent. But over the past few years, the food has gotten progressively worse and worse. Went there last night, and it will be the last time. The food was awful. Something has happened over the past couple of years and I cannot figure out what. For instance, the house salad comes with salad dressing from little plastic Kraft containers. Am I the only one to see this once proud little family restaurant turn into a slop shop?

This is one of those old school family restaurants that serves hearty comfort food at more than reasonable prices. I recommend the Chicken Caesar and the fries with gravy. They actually warn you about the amount of garlic in the Caesar salad!
