Unlike most shopping malls in small cities that feature outdated décor and more vacant stores than open, the Aberdeen mall is surprisingly nice. Everything is updated and shiny. It’s actually a pleasant place to come and walk around. The biggest drawback of the Aberdeen mall is the lack of selection. Kamloops just doesn’t attract the same caliber of chain businesses that places like Kelowna or Vancouver tend to. If I ever want to go shopping just for the sake of it, it’s worth taking the long drive down to the coast. The Aberdeen Mall really isn’t the place you go to window shop. It does have some classic favourites(e.g. The Gap, Smart Set, and Sport Chek) so it isn’t completely lacking but nothing particularly trendy or fashionable aside from Jardines. Most of the stores here tend to be focused to older and younger crowds. There is a lot for older women and teenagers, but not so much for the 20s-30s crowd. Overall, the Aberdeen Mall is just fine if you’re looking for something specific and basic, however if you want someting particularly interesting in Kamloops you’re probably going to have to shop online or drive out of town.
