The Bruce Bar & Grill

I should have checked the reviews before I went. The patio is very nice but other than that the place is mediocre. We ordered the eggplant bruschetta which would have been good if they had sliced the eggplant thinner or cooked it longer. My chicken souvlaki soup was cold and tasteless and mostly seemed to be peas and the Yorkshire delight was cold and unremarkable. My daughter’s baby cheeseburgers were not patted fresh and my husband thought his fish and chips where okay-​if you like potato chip crust. Finally, there were no prices on the wine list and even when I asked how much a particular glass cost, my server wouldn’t tell me-​just that they got more expensive as you go down the page… not helpful.

4 of us dined there on Sat. night. Patio full so we ate in the extremely noisy dining room. Nice décor, patio would be best seats in the house.
Good service but we were told the Yorkshire Delight was big enough to share. There were 3 on the plate and all 3 different sizes (large to small). Not enough to share unless you’re s very small eater. It arrived luke warm. Salad was good. The fresh cut fries were all small pieces, no large fries. Chicken strips were run of the mill, out-​of-​the-​freezer type.
Long wait for food, at least 30 minutes.
Probably won’t go back. A better place just down the block.

Great view from the patio but the service is extremely slow. The food can be hit or miss, depending on the day.

Got their «famous» fish n chips which still had the skin on the fish… It was entirely deep fried as per typical but still had the skin on which was disgusting. I asked our waiter about it he said that’s always how we do it… Which was interesting because I was there the week before and had the fish n chips and they were normal filets WITHOUT skin. He shrugs and mumbles this is how we always do it and we never saw him again, no drink refills, no how was ur meal. Had to pay at the bar for the meal. It was a never go back experience.
They do have an impressive beer line up and a nice patio so if ur looking for a sunset pint I think it would fine. But I think I’d eat elsewhere

beautiful sunset, was only able to drink half my beer before the flies and bees became a bother and drank more than I did, food was stone cold and beyond bland, lastly the service was the worse, hence no tip.

We returned to the Bruce this year after a two year absence. It was still a wonderful place to have dinner. The Bruce has a nice patio over looking the lake, and a comfortable dining room and bar inside.
While it bills itself as a steakhouse, there are other interesting items on the menu. Fish and chips may not sound that interesting, but they batter the fish with salt and vinegar potato chips and it’s fantastic!

Mediocre food and terrible service. All in all a place I never want to come back to which is too bad as the location with lake view is nice

Horrible food, even worse beer. I was disappointed in the menu to begin with for a lack of items. I decided to try the brisket sandwich. The sandwich was so gross and greasy I could only stomach maybe half of it. I also had a beer to go with my sandwich but that too was terrible. It had an awful smell and taste to it, I suspect they never clean their draft lines and that’s what caused he bad taste. They got my money once but it won’t happen again. The overall inside appearance is kind of trashy, I expected a nicer place from the looks of the entrance.

The breakfast menu is pretty extensive and very good! You can only get breakfast here on the weekends, though, so keep that in mind. I ordered the cornbread french toast and fresh fruit, which was three massive pancake-​shaped pieces of cornbread with a sliced apple. It was sooooo filling, though I did eat all of it (and I was full for a while after). Reasonable prices, nice interior – looks as though it was redone recently – and has a great view of the lake!
Service is very friendly and attentive.
