Jack’s Place

Hawaiian roll was to die for tonight. Large portion of tuna and really well presented. Miso soup was cold and wasabi was old and hard.
Beer and service were good and quality of roll is basis of my ranking.

If you know where Bear Mountain is, you know it’s not that short of a drive. I was super disappointed by the customer service today. The restaurant closed at 6pm for a private event, which is totally fine. However, we were there at 4:30pm and were refused to be served food as the last call for food has already been called. 1.5 hours before closing which is ridiculous! Most restaurants do it 15−30min before closing. Huge disappointment.

Have had two meals here. Sushi dinner was ok, but the crab in the crunchy California roll appeared to be imitation crab meat. Didn’t have much flavor. Other sushi was only ok but bento box was good sized.
Lunch, the burgers were ok, good flavor on the meat but small patty on a huge bun. Fries were soggy.
Service was good though and the tv’s are great for a game. Beer selection was good and nice and cold. Martini was tasty but didn’t taste much booze… Patio is great!
Overall. Ok and $$ but great location.

We go often to Jacks. Pub side of food is pretty good. Sushi is better than average with reasonable prices. However I will say usually when they get large parties the service and good quality goes way way down. It’s unfortunate but if we walk in and see a table of 10 or more we walk out because we know it will be a terrible meal and service.
I really like the openness of the restaurant. The patio improvements are fantastic with heat lamps and they are attentive to people who look chilly.

Came here for lunch and to watch a game. Food was ok. I ordered a Cobb salad which was average tasting. Their beer selection is not bad.
The service was pretty slow, although the servers were nice and friendly. They had a few tvs that stopped working during the game, which they made little effort to fix.
What annoyed me the most was when I asked them to call me a taxi. 15 minutes later, I asked them how long it might be for it to arrive. They said they never called one and I should just call one myself. I thought it was rude they didn’t bother to tell me they didn’t call one and refused to call one for me.

During my recent vacation I took treated myself and a friend to a night at The Westin Bear Mountain. Jacks is located on the Bear Mountain property, but not owned by the Westin.
We went and checked out their menu and quickly decided that is where we were going for dinner. They offer lots of pub style items as well as sushi items! It’s a fabulous combination really.
Looking at the sushi prices I decided to go with a pub choice — they seemed pretty high to me, but, after paying my bill and realizing the tax was super-​super cheap (5%) I probably would have gotten some sushi.
But, I’m glad I didn’t either way. I ordered their traditional homemade Angus cheese burger and fries. The burger came garnished with lettuce, tomato, onion, dill pickle, spicy onion rings and a special burger sauce (not sure what it was exactly but it was delicious); there are other options you can add like pineapple, bacon etc (for a fee). I thought the spicy onion rings were an awesome touch.
From the thick juicy patty to the toasted sesame seed bun this was probably one of the best burgers I’ve eaten (even though I’m sure I’ve said that 100 times before). The fries were also home-​made and perfect.
The restaurant itself is very nice; rustic yet classy. And, there is also an outdoor patio. I’m not sure if it is a everyday thing — or just a weekend thing but they had a live band performing (I was there on a Saturday night). The band was great, they sang a wide rang of music and the girl had an amazing voice.
Our service was top notch also; very attentive and timely. I still can’t believe that delicious $ 12.00 burger came to $ 12.60 with tax — needless to say, she got way more than a 60 cent tip.
I would highly recommend checking out Jacks if you are in the area.

Excellent food, kid friendly but pub atmosphere. Will go back again. We recommend
the sushi and fish tacos. Yum!
