I think the service in Langley has improved after the negative reviews. I’ve shopped by myself, with my husband and with my son. The staff have proved courteous and helpful with our individual projects.

DONOTGOHERE. Backstory: I went with my grandmother to get some fabric for some pillows she was making. She does not speak english, nor had she gotten any education in her birthplace, so she doesn’t know the metric system. However I translated in her stead as I speak both English and Korean fluently. We get to the store, there was a very gentle lady that greeted us and guided us to the area where we can pick out our own design and ask to get it cut into whatever dimensions you needed. We were picking out our fabric when this older lady took her place by force. We explained what we needed, and she got very confused. My grandmother was showing her how long she wanted it, and I was translating what she meant in metric terms. She kept rolling her eyes, and had a very annoyed tone of voice. It was VERY obvious she did not want to help us. Even then, I always try to look past it because she might have had a bad day. However. As soon as you say derogatory words to my grandmother, that’s when I draw the line. We quickly left the establishment and never turned back. I have never had such a bad such as this. Please, PLEASE do not support this business.

I have now been there twice, and both times was given great service. The first time I walked in, I told them I hadn’t been in a fabric shop in many years and didn’t really know what I was looking for. One of the ladies showed me exactly where to find what I needed and another recommended how much I get based on someone else who was doing a similar project. I went on a Sunday, and all 3 staff members I encountered(and there was more) were very helpful. I then went again yesterday(Tuesday) afternoon, as I needed way more fabric than I anticipated(in fact I probably have to go back again). and again I was treated very well by a totally different staff. and it was particularly busy. They even checked, without me asking, to see if the product was on sale,

Awful awful awful customer service. Witnessed such attitude from several of their staff members. My mum asked the cashier to check the price on something and the reply was, «why don’t you look at the tag?» It was kind of hard to see the price when there were stickers stuck on top of each other, along with sale signs of differing percentages all over the place. I also saw the same staff member, while speaking to a customer, snap at another customer, an older lady, «No, I’m talking to her right now!» The older lady just wanted to ask for the bathroom key. Considering the type of clientele who frequent fabric stores such as this(ie, mostly older women who like to sew and quilt), one would think the customer service would be much better.

Minus one star for limited fabric selections… whoever orders really needs to look at more contemporary prints. Minus one star for customer service. I have had great service, but often poor service. Minus one star for understaffing on weekends and during sales. I really should take off one star for their outdated membership system. If you forget your card. you can’t just give your number or show ID. If you lose it(my purse was stolen with it inside), they wont reissue — you have to BUY a new membership! :p I give two stars… because occasionally the staff is pleasant and I manage to find what I want.

Too bad this is the only Fabric store in Langley… today I went in for a certain item I always buy there. I guess the item is no longer being ordered. There was a certain amount of arrogance and rudeness shown when I asked if there was any way they could bring this item back in stock. A simple«we’re sorry, we can’t get this item anymore» would have been fine. Learn your manners ladies, and think about how you treat your customers. A little kindness, understanding, and respect goes a long way in keeping your customers happy. Without us, you don’t have a business.
