Back in the 80’s we frequented Greyhound going to Calgary and it was stellar!!! Now since the station is not locally owned the standards of the station and customer satisfaction have plummited dramatically. Here is why 1) The location: right in the heart of sketchy Langley City right across the street from the scrary bus loop and questionable strip mall where all the colorful people wearing camo pants/jackets riding BMX pedal around looking for no good 2) The station: GRIM!!! A small drab looking waiting room with little to zero for anyone waiting for their bus to pass the time. There are a few chairs locked into each other to sit down, a small rack with touristy info brochures, vending machines that has pry marks on them from people opening the coin holders, and a pay phone(they still have them?) that is frequently used by drug dealers but it is depending if it’s working providing people(staff?) jam plastic straws and other debris in the phone to prevent people from using it. Bring your own food too unless you want a vending machine meal(providing the jagged metal on the coin slot doesn’t slice you up) Good luck in using the bathroom as staff lock them tight as people use it for their drug usage. The police frequent this area on a regular basis as criminal activity is a routine passtime in the area. 3) The hours of operation: The station is only open until 7:00 pm for travelers so if you’re from out of province and have to transfer buses it’s a long walk anywhere to a mall but there is the one way street on Fraser Highway that has shops and such. The only problem is that you’re better of taking your things with you as levaing it there may result in it being stolen. If you arrive at this station after 7:00 pm the place is locked tight and your pretty much stuck there to fend on your own. The only phone is the payphone across at the bus loop if you’re feeling brave. There are benches outside in the bus bay but chances are they may be over taken by the local homeless people. 4) The bus: It is what it is, you take a gamble as you may get the brand new one or the one from the fleet from the 70’s I’d avoid this station at all costs, seeing that this is the connecting loop from Vancouver through the valley it’s a roulette wheel of randomness being a passenger. You could be stuck with the weirdo from hell who creeps you out or the old lady who just talks your head off. Oh and there are zero security precautions at this station too as I’ve heard of passenger bringing knives and other illegal items on too.
