This review is only for one item I had on their menu. The black bean burrito. I chose to order this because a few things on their menu contained the field roast sausages, which are delicious, but I have them quite a bit at home. A truck-made sausage would have been way more delightful. The burrito itself was smaller than I expected as it was a $ 10 wrap. The ingredients were placed pretty unevenly. I wish the hot sauce they put inside was homemade instead of store bought. Something about a food truck that has a special sauce or something captivating would keep me coming back. The black beans only tasted half cooked. Pretty hard little nuggets. So much potential, but nothing specially house made or interesting.

It’s always nice to find lowest-common-denominator food that is tasty. In this case, vegan with gluten-free option food from Gypsy Trunk Gourmet Fare, which I tried at the Shipyards Night Market. They are pretty much the only clearly vegan cart around. For dessert, go into the big warehouse behind the live band and check to see if Vegan Pudding & Co. is there. The Gypsy Burrito($ 12) tortilla(whole grain or rice), Field Roast grain sausage(apple sage, italian, or chipotle), black beans, fresh cooked brown rice, grilled red onion, guacamole, cilantro, Daiya mozzarella, Frank’s Hot Sauce, and either dried cranberries or tomatoes — Your choice of sausage. With the apple sage, to keep the sweet theme, they ask if you want to sub your tomatoes with dried cranberries. — I recommend you ask for this instead of boring tomato, for all your sausage options. Cranberries gives the whole thing an interesting light sweetness that juxtaposes the otherwise savoury item. — The wrap is big. Maybe 2 inches in diameter and maybe 8 inches long. Packed dense with rice. — I went with the apple sage for the sausage. I didn’t find any sausage till 2/3rds of the way through, when I discovered some crumbly khaki coloured thing which I assume was remnants of the sausage. — No question the big wrap is filling. The mix of ingredients makes just this content pretty tasty. But for $ 12 I am expecting more value than that, so it was disappointing to not get any presence of sausage most of the way through. Even after I found it, there was too much rice for the sausage to really do anything. The other burritos are $ 10 and you get either black beans or sausage; the rest is the same. For $ 12, you are getting both black beans and sausage. Since the sausage had no contribution, stick with the regular $ 10 burritos and ask for cranberries instead of tomato. At $ 10, their burritos compete very favourably against gourmet burgers weighing in at $ 12+ with no sides. Definitely more filling for your money from simply having more filling inside their wraps.

I tried Gypsy Trunk this past weekend at my town’s annual May Day fair and HOLYMOLY! I am in LOVE! It was refreshing to see a vegetarian/vegan friendly option floating like a beacon of delicious hope in a sea of meat-related carnival food. The vegan quesadilla with apple sage Field Roast«sausage» immediately caught my eye, so I went for it. At $ 7 bucks it was a fraction of the price of the other vendors’ wares and it was enough to fill me up and keep me full for the rest of the afternoon. To me, a true testament to how good the food is is if a non-vegan chooses vegan over greasy traditional carnival food, and that’s just what I did, and I could not have been happier. I can’t wait to try the rest of their menu!

Vegan food truck, WHAT?! «Do what you love» Jen, the owner lives up to that! Her passion are in her burritos, music, traveling, and loving life positively. I had her amazing gypsy burrito with chipotle field roast sausage. My non-vegan friend copied me, she was really impressed and declared, «I’d go vegan!» Hehe in a perfect world :). The food is wholesome and hearty. Vegan food is delicious! Give her a try and follow her on FB, if you have FB. I do not, but my non-vegan friend does! Jen will post her summer schedule, that way you can find her. :)

Well well well, a vegan burrito food truck. Burritos, as a rule, are amazing. Field Roast sausages, as a rule, are amazing. These geniuses have put field roast sausages INSIDE burritos people. Fresh and tasty ingredients that you would expect in a burrito, mixed with franks, field roast dreams and some daiya if you’re into that. So. Damn. Good. Found this truck at the Squamish Music Festival and just assumed it was from America as I have not seen them in Vancouver. Turns out they are a burby truck, but they do get around. That’s what he said. Check out their schedule here! and then rearrange your whole life and job and friends and gym schedule so you can go and eat a burrito and have all of your dreams come true and brag to everyone. The service was pretty slow at the festival, but I am fairly certain that was because they were making a bagillion burritos for a bunch of drunk festival goers. Also, deliciousness takes time.

Found this food truck at the Squamish Music Festival… It was such a treat from all the unhealthy overpriced food at the festival. The burrito was amazing! Would have never had guessed it was vegan. Slow, but we’ll worth the wait. Great value and delicious. I wish all festival food trucks were as good as this one! Thanks for tracking to the festival!

I saw this truck at the Surrey City Central farmer’s market. OMG where has this truck been all my life! It was everything that I eat regularly and is totally dietary compatible with me. They’re gluten free and vegan. I had the GF Vegan burrito with Diaya(sp?) cheese. They even have Zevia soda, my fav. This soda is made with Stevia. The customer service was awesome and the prices were very reasonable for the portions. Caution… ask for a fork, a plate and an extra napkin… you will need it. Be prepared to have a burrito facial. I wore it like a champ. I am thankful that Vancouver is starting to have some healthy options in the food truck business.

Had the Thanksgiving weekend special burrito while at the Fort Langley Cranberry Festival. It was delicious. I had no idea eating healthy could taste so nice. Well worth a visit.
