I was disappointed with the customer service that I received in the store. Many of the staff seem to be ill trained and do not have a great deal of knowledge about the products sold in this store. I wanted to purchase a pair of New Balance shoes, but was having trouble finding a pair in my size(7) that I liked. The sales person was able to find a pair of shoes from the back that were a different color than the ones that I had asked for, but assured me that they were included in the sale. At the till I was told that the pair that I picked out were not included in the sale despite what the sales person had told me. The manager was incredibly generous and ended up discounting the shoes for me, which I appreciated. Despite a happy ending, I would most likely shop at a different store in the future.

I can’t believe that our sportcheck in town made the news because of this! Unbelievable people what are you guy’s thinking? All of us should support our troops. My family and friends will avoid Sportcheck for now on!

I will be the first to admit that I am not a sports person. As a spectator I’ll watch a game, but I’m not a competitive person and playing sports has never interested me. I’m also not much of an athletic person. In fact if you ever hear me say something like, «I can’t wait to run that marathon» then you’ll know that my body has been possessed by alien lifeforms. Running = oh hell no. Anyway I might not love sports, or athletic pursuits, but I do know(approaching close to 30) that exercise is important, so I’ve started going back to the gym. When I was there yesterday I noticed that my water bottle had cracked, so I went to Sport Chek in Leduc to look for a new one. I was able to find a BPA water bottle for only $ 5, which isn’t too bad for a price for water bottles(yes I could just buy a Dasani water and reuse the bottle, but it will likely crack and then I’ll just have to buy another water bottle). I was also there to look for some workout grip gloves that my dad had asked for(his birthday is coming up soon). They had a good selection of gloves, and I was able to find ones that would work. I was also there with my mom, and she getting a few small things for dad for his birthday. At the checkout counter my mom grabbed a couple of energy bars, and when the cashier heard my mom saying she was getting them for my dad she was nice enough to point out these energy bars were for women. Some people might not have said anything, so I thought that was nice the cashier said something to begin with. My mom knew if she bought these energy bars for my dad that he’d see they were for women, and then he’d never let her live it down. She took them off the bill, but did recommend the mint chocolate flavor one. The store is a pretty good size, and being a sports store they also have other workout equipment and gear. If you are looking for running/walking shoes(or sandals) then Sport Chek has the best(possibly the only real selection) in Leduc. I’m looking for walking shoes for an upcoming trip, and so I might come back to Sport Chek to get a pair of shoes for that trip. Sport Chek isn’t the kind of store I shop at all the time, but it’s nice to know there is one in Leduc.
