I love the food here. Do not come here if you are looking for Canadian Chinese food, you won’t find it here. I go to Congee Chan for authentic chinese food. I always order the yang chow fried rice and fried rice noodle with sliced beef in soya sauce. The portions are awesome and the price is fair. The décor is beautiful and the restaurant itself is very clean. The only downside is that the service isn’t that great. You have to ask servers to refill your drink otherwise they will not come by your table at all.

This is some of the most authentic Chinese food I have had in Southwestern Ontario. I come here every time with 3 other people and order 3 dishes and 1 bowl of congee and the total is always under $ 50! Our favourites are the Peking style pork, beef chow fun, super bowl congee, and the salt and pepper pork chops!

Great service and great food! The Hong Kong style deep fried lobster was excellent. One of the best Asian food restaurant’s in the city.

What a fantastic congee after quite a while! This place had been on my radar every time I was headin to Costco next to it. Great ambiance inside. Pretty good service. The complimentary green tea is delicious as always. I had the pork congee which was fantastic! Nice consistency. Decent helpings of mushrooms and pork inside. I’ll admit I had to spice things up. I asked for chilli sauce and the awesome server brought some chilli oil and chilli paste. Mixing them together makes it amazing! But I’ll be warning everyone that chilli paste is spicy! An awesome. The shrimp and scallops congee had one downside. The scallops were overdone. Now for the finish! I had the Red Bean Pancake with Green Tea ice cream. O M G! Had to use that here. It took a little while to get but holy that was so yummy! Standard order for me from now to end at Congee Chan.

Had a family brunch there on Labour Day. They were crowded, but still gave us great service. And of course the food was as always superb.

Last night had a great evening at Congee Chan. I was surprised to find such a nice interior in a place such in a step mall; modern and very comfortable. The wait staff was terrific and also were game for ordering for us. As this was out first time there we asked the server to bring us four selections that would show of the restaurant. She brought us two vegetable dishes and 1 meat and 1 seafood. All for were really tasty and served fresh and very hot. Some people have been writing about authenticity in their reviews. I can’t speak to authenticity, but it sure is tasty an it is definitely not«red sauce» Chinese food, chicken balls and pork. Our bill was fifty five bucks for four. No booze.

The interior of the restaurant is very modern, brightly lit and very new looking. The chinese food served here are all very Americanized versions of the traditional dishes, with the exception of the congee, which are mostly accurate. My favorite, more traditional congee is the preserved egg congee with minced pork or duck. This is the kind of place I would visit with my north-america raised university friends but not with someone more traditional who values traditional recipes, such as parents, or grandparents as they would be greatly disappointed. The chinese food here is more suited to the tastes of someone who is north american born or raised, as the flavors of the actual dishes are very mild or non-existent(aka bland). In the past I ordered a spicy eggplant casserole with minced pork and fish sauce dish, but was disappointed, The dish I ended up getting was not spicy at all even when I asked for extra spicy, there was virtually no visible pork in the dish, the eggplant they used was the inexpensive ones you can buy at no frills or any normal grocery store, and the eggplant wasn’t cooked or stewed enough to be considered a casserole-type dish. Overall, a good restaurant, but north americanized taste buds may appreciate this place more than traditional taste buds.

This place is terrible. I have eaten here at least 30 times because my family thinks it’s the only(cheap) place to get Asian food and I have hated every single time I have eaten here. I think it is amazing that my family can keep eating there– all my grandma ever comments on is that it’s cheaper than Golden Dragon. I can’t believe she truly enjoys the food there, but I think she enjoys the perceived savings. It is terrible and the fact that it is thriving is a microcosm of the mediocrity that permeates through London Ontario and that people don’t know anything about food. This place(except for maybe two things) doesn’t get anything right. It doesn’t do authentic well and it doesn’t make the fake stuff very well either. I would rather eat neon red Chinese-American fare than Congee Chan. I will break down a couple dishes that my family tends to order. In general, even though I am a guy who will generally complain that food is usually unseasoned, I find the food at Congee Chan to be much too salty. In addition to this, I find the food extremely greasy(a rare complaint from me) and I feel that I eat too much fried batter when I am eating there. Maybe 60% of the time I have been there, I have eaten the lobster. I love lobster, but I hate the way it’s prepared there. The lobster is constantly rubbery and they must fry it poorly because it’s always disgustingly greasy. I don’t understand what’s wrong with their frying techniques, maybe they don’t wait until the oil is hot enough. I mourn every lobster that has died vainly in the kitchen of Congee Chan. No lobster should be consumed in the rubbery mess that Congee Chan offers. The sauce with the lobster is lackluster. It’s just there, it doesn’t enhance the flavour of the lobster at all and I wonder if I even taste lobster when I eat it, it’s more like seafood flavoured chewing gum. There are over sweetened, greasy pork chops that taste bad and over sweetened, greasy beef ribs that also taste bad. The vegetables are covered in a gross sauce. The two things which are OKAY at this place are the congee and some coconut oil wrapped rice dish. The congee isn’t bad, but let’s be real– how do you screw up congee? It isn’t really spectacular either but it isn’t too salty. The wrapped rice in interesting, there are pieces of shrimp and there is a coconut richness with gobi berries in it. However, this is(again) a very greasy dish and you get bored eating it after awhile. So I don’t get it. I know Cantonese food. I lived in Toronto for a number of years and would frequent the many Cantonese eateries there. I really enjoy Cantonese food– Congee Chan isn’t real Cantonese food. It’s a disgusting portrayal of apathetic mediocrity in a city which is all about apathetic mediocrity. My family, having lived in London for so long, have followed this trend of apathetic mediocrity by making this restaurant its main place. I’ve eaten at this restaurant at least 30 times. Sometimes I have had to come on back to back days because my family has no where else to eat. After the first visit, they have had to drag me kicking and screaming to this disgusting restaurant. I hate it. I don’t ever want to eat here again. All the other Chinese restaurants in London, although not spectacular, are far superior to Congee Chan. This includes: Golden Dragon, Green Tea, and Lotus Gardens(Tak Sum is just as bad as this place… maybe marginally superior…). My grandma supposedly chooses Congee Chan because it’s cheaper. I wouldn’t care if it was free, I never want to eat here again.

If you’re looking for authentic, try somewhere else. The food itself isn’t bad but definitely not authentic. One dish in particular that I ordered is supposed to be very spicy. The waitress even warned me when I ordered that it would be spicy. But when it came, it not only didn’t look the way it was supposed to, the taste was way subpar. Sure there was spice, but not at all what it was supposed to be. Overall not bad for Chinese food in London. Reasonable prices and clean restaurant. But bottom line, not authentic.

I usually never get Chinese food outside of the GTA area to avoid chicken balls and chop suey on the menu but I was pleasantly surprised by Congee Chan. With the modern and clean décor, you could almost convince yourself that you’re in Markham. The menu at Congee Chan brings traditional Cantonese offerings that are well prepared and appropriately portioned. We ordered a few standard dishes — snow pea leaves with garlic sauce, sweet and sour pork, Cantonese chow main and green beans with minced pork. Dishes were all good. Definitely quality stuff here. No free house soup or Chinese dessert so we ordered a round of red bean ice cream and mango dessert to finish off our meal. Bill with tax and tip in came to $ 80 — slightly more expensive than Chinese places in the GTA but I think worth it for the quality of the dishes. Other bonuses — free WIFI and wait staff that speak both Cantonese and English well.

Came here twice and it was very busy both times and had to wait 10 – 15 min for a table. The place has a modern design with booth tables and big round tables. The congee is quite good and the dishes we ordered tasted great but just a bit too oily. Their sizzling hot plates are something to try alongside the congee. Price is higher than Toronto but average for London. Service was REALLY slow during busy hours, waited over 20 min for food to arrive. The place seems to be popular as it is always filled with students.

Probably the best Chinese restaurant I have visited so far in London. I would personally give a 4.5 if possible with the only thing prevent a 5 being the lack of some menu items I typically enjoy, as well as minor flavor preferences. Overall though the food is very good, and I order takeout at least once a month. Portion sizes are also well above average and can last multiple meals.

We were visiting some local relatives who live in London and we were taken here to have lunch. Congee Chan is very modern with clean tables, chairs, and décor. The bathrooms are clean as well! We had a family meal for 8 people and thoroughly enjoyed everything. I would say that it was the best Chinese food that we had while we were visiting the Toronto area for a few days. My favorite dishes was definitely the lobster, which had a great presentation and was well good flavor. The fried rice was well done along with the pork chops(which definitely had to be my favorite dish!). There was your standard soup and bok choy with mushrooms. Overall, it was a great meal with great service. The manager came out to say hello to us and asked us about our trip. I have been to a number of Chinese restaurants in Orange County and in the LA area. I would dare say that Congee Chan is up there along with some of my favorite Chinese restaurants in the LA and OC area in California. Congee Chan has that Hong Kong style flavor that is appealing to many Cantonese people alike. My mom even told the manager«You need to come to California! You will do well there!» Congee Chan, think about it. ;)

I’ve had congee here at least ten times and they have always delivered perfection. Very large portion sizes at really cheap prices, it hits the spot when you’re stomach is a little upset at you and you need a nice warm meal to keep you going. I haven’t tried any of the other food at this place, but I mean it’s got Congee in the business name. Don’t be a sissy and just try one

New restaurant in London! I was thoroughly impressed with the ambiance, LOVED the food quality & courteous service. Celebrating my Dad’s birthday with family was very special. Rivals the restaurant in Toronto.
