The burger I ordered seems to be a frozen one. The soft drink was flat even when they change it to different one. Only the sweet fries was acceptable. The atmosphere is not good for family dining because most people were there sitting in the bar for drinking.

Predictable, but large menu with everything you think an average Canadian restaurant should have– Caesar salad, burgers, steak, sandwiches, one or two variations on «ethnic food», and fried appetizers. Not my scene and I would never choose this place, but they are good for large groups and the service is decent. Location is also good.

Great service. Was there when they had half-price Fish ‘n Chips. Enough space to play a boardgame!

Yet another incarnation in the same location. Décor seems similar but slightly refreshed. The menu is LARGE. As someone else said, probably too large. I was having a bit of trouble deciding what to order but ended up with the smothered chicken because it sounded unique. It came with a choice of starter so I picked the Caesar salad, which was very yummy. The main dish was decent but the smothering hid that fact that the chicken was slightly overcooked which was disappointing. Fries were also overdone. My mom ordered the fish and chips(½ price Tuesdays) and I immediately noticed the batter was a bit extra cripsy in spots. She said it was fine, though. Toss up on her truthfulness. We sat in the bar area just because and we had 3 people(bartender who was our server, another server, and manager) come to our table at various times to check on us. But the bartender forgot to bring my mom a water when asked. There was also a very large TV near us, which in concept is totally fine but I still forget how common — and distracting — it is. The bar area was busy so I know the location is the favourable part of this place.

I live downtown but have avoided going here as there are a lot of other great restaurants in the area that I love. I finally decided to check it out today(a Sunday) for brunch and was impressed. They have a large menu with a lot of options. While I ended up skipping on the«all you can eat» brunch, others around me had it and it looked decent. The food was good, the service was fast and friendly, and the atmosphere was comfortable. By no means is this a high end restaurant but it’s a great place to go for a casual meal or even drinks before an event at the Budweiser Gardens. I look forward to going back.

I’ve been here multiple times over its many incarnations and have yet to set foot in the dining room, so I can’t comment on that space. On the bar side, there is bar seating and there are high-top tables. I have two recommendations for management. The menu is too big, which immediately makes one wonder what their specialty is. They would benefit from a menu half the size. A solid burger, maybe a stir-fry or two, fish and chips, a few sandwiches, a few pastas and some salads are all that is needed, and would allow the kitchen to focus on perfecting those dishes. The second recommendation is admittedly much more ambitious and would be costly to execute. Since this isn’t a formal place, they should consider knocking out the last 2m of the bar that are closest to the patio. Turn the bar into a rectangle in the middle of the room. Customers have always preferred the bar side, so making the bar the centre point of the resto would substantially increase the number of people who would patronize the place before a Knights game or a concert. Forget the dining room concept; make the whole thing into a bigger bar albeit with superior food. You’ll get good use of those glass and metal containers that you keep in your car for taking leftovers home from restos. The portions here are large, so you’ll want to bring the containers in with you; it will save you a trip to the car to get them after the meal! Prices are reasonable. Service is great. Very friendly, but not overbearing. Definitely a notch above roadhouse food. By far the best option for a quick bite around the JLC(I’m still refusing to get on board with the Bud Gardens moniker).

Olive R. Twists is a great restaurant. Good local fresh food. We always come here before the Knights game, great atmosphere. Servers and managers are always nice. Good daily deals and now they serve an all you can eat brunch on the weekend with a live band at night.

I have heard so many good things about Olive R Twists and boy did it ever live up to the hype. We went for dinner last night and the food was amazing. The service was fast and our server was polite and extremely attentive to our needs. The owner even came over to check on us and to find out if it was our first time there. We ordered the onion rings and spinach dip to start. Now I’m not a huge onion ring fan but these were delicious. The coating reminded me of funnel cake, they were also perfect. Not too greasy. The spinach dip was also phenomenal, and piping hot when it arrived at our table. I ordered the colossal club melt. The name definitely didn’t lie. It was huge. The flatbread instead of regular bread was a great touch and the chicken breast was perfect, moist and not dried out. And their fries are addicting(my next visit will include a poutine for sure). My fiancé had the pulled pork with sweet potato fries. The pulled pork was delicious. I’m not a sweet potato fry fan so I can’t provide a review for those. All in all this is a great restaurant. Fairly extensive menu and amazing service. I can’t wait to come back and try some more menu items.

Came here for dinner with my parents before seeing Potted Potter at the Grand Theatre for a quick bite to eat. This was my first dining experience here. Tried the new pear flavoured beer they had on special and it was pretty good! My mom’s piña colada looked pretty tasty. We had the Bread Twists for an appetizer and were perfect for a starter. They were little balls of baked bread with garlic butter and cheese on top and were delicious! I had the Chicken Caesar wrap with fries and the portion sizes were HUGE(compared to other places). The fries came in a basket similar to one used in a deep fryer and filled to the brim. They were definitely the better part of my meal as the wrap wasn’t the best Caesar wrap I’ve ever had. Where was the bacon at?! My dad had Cajun dusted wings that looked awesome(he said they were really good) and my mom had a chicken club and said it was really tasty. Overall I really liked my meal and I’m going to definitely come back because they have a fairly substantial menu. I want to try a few other things :)
