I had the appetizer sampler that included stuffed mushrooms, lobster dip and scallops with bacon jam. The mushrooms were superb and the dip had a wonderful flavor with large pieces of seafood. The scallops were also good though were slightly over cooked. Service was pretty good until the tour bus groups came in and it got pretty crowded.

Probably more a 3.5 than a 4… just avoid some of the fried stuff I feel to get the real flavour of this island. Many come just for the view and that means that cooking standards can slip sometimes although when your raw materials are so good it’s difficult to go too wrong. I had the mussels to start(everywhere does really good mussels in Lunenburg) but the Cape Sable salmon was also very special. If this is your first time in NS, suggest running through the local wines glass by glass. The staff was very helpful and I like places where they’re all competent and self-reliant.

While spending a couple days in the South Shore, we decided on the Old Fish Factory Restaurant for a late lunch. I’m so glad we did, it was so good. We had the Seafood Trio($ 16.99) for starters to share. Everything tasted like more, seriously, it was delicious. For our mains; I had the Greek Pasta with chicken added($ 16.99 + $ 6) and my husband had the Nova Scotia Bacon & Cheddar Bangers and Mash($ 15.99). Both dishes were exceptionally well done, complementing each other, and left you feeling satisfied by the fresh flavors. Great plate presentation, friendly service(however, nothing outstanding), and nice atmosphere. That being said, it is a bit of a tourist trap, which are reflected by the pricing. Bit high, but very good food.

My husband & I each had Lobster dinner. Food was ok Service was good. But I have to day I have had sweeter Lobster at The Keg in London Ontario. So for my first Lobster dinner on East Coast it was dissapointing Expensive too.
