Lava Room Dining & Lounge

Closed. Looks to be yet another sushi joint in its place. I’m not surprised. The food was mediocre at best.

A most excellent location to consume the charred muscle tissue of bovine animals. Ozzy is pleased with the quality of their sustenance, come here and consume their offerings with your massive jaws, you must consume both food and drink, they will nourish your body and soul and you too will be pleased as Ozzy is pleased.

Fabulous food at reasonable prices. Maple Ridge should consider itself fortunate to have such a fine restaurant on their doorstep. The food is every bit as good — if not better — than most of the ‘high end’ restaurants in Vancouver — but for much less.
The proprietor, Rob is informative and friendly and the service excellent. The ambiance is wonderful — very atmospheric with soft music.
I have had the rib-​eye steak more than once and it is the best I have ever had! My wife and I have also have enjoyed the chicken, lamb and fish dishes at various times.
We heartily recommend this restaurant and wish more folks would patronize this wonderful place while they can.

Once again we had a fine meal and good service. The duck was properly done, not overcooked as I’ve endured elsewhere. My wife’s special was a fish dish (John Dorrey?) and she wouldn’t share so I can only assume by her smile that it was excellent as we’ll. My only quibble was that they were out of the vanilla/​cranberry bread pudding and I had to settle for the chocolate cake. Poor me. We have not been disappointed here yet!

I’ve been to Lava at least once or twice a year over the years and I like it all right. It’s a great place with great food, better than casual dining, and good value.
Being in Maple Ridge, it’s a little more casual than the upscale places you’d normally find with this quality of food. Last night, we were one of two couples having a quiet, romantic night over wonderful meals, but the table of 4 next to us was acting like it was an hour to closing time at Shooters.
Lava is always great value, they care about the food, and they care about the customers, but I don’t think I’d ever consider it the place I’d go for a guaranteed quiet, romantic night. It’s a good place to dine well with the community.

Lovely atmosphere. The food is outstanding!!! Served by the owner who was really delightful. Had the beef shoulder which was fork tender. The prawns were delicious and the chocolate cherry cake was wonderful. The entire experience was great.

Nice romantic restaurant but what really sets this place apart is the food.
Everything I have tried here has been incredible!
Obvious attention to detail in the kitchen and there is also obviously someone who is passionate about food running the show in there.
My hubby and I went here the last time on a date night and ate of the appy /​starter menu and everything was incredible.
They also had a nice selection of imported beers and wines and the staff were very knowledgeably about them and had great recommendations.
The service was good without being to clingy.
Prices were a bit on the high side but hey … you get what you pay for right?
We will definitely go to the Lava Room again.

My party of eight had dinner here on a Friday evening and this is my review. Great atmosphere and food presentation but that where it ends.
Highly over priced and poor service (polite thou) !!! $ 14 shrimp app gets you 3 medium prawns… really. Medium rare steak means cold raw in the middle. Kitchen lacked the little extras… no horse radish… really!!! Staff lack knowledge and dressed in Costco jeans.
At these prices I expect better. I guess this is why it was empty on a Friday night… big red flag. Drive a bit to somewhere better or eat with regret. I will never go back or recommend.

Excellent food, hospitality and the added benefit of amazing flexibility with the menu for those with sensitivities or special diets.
I had the fishcakes an the halibut topped with olive oil and olives yumm sides were lovely tried a bite of the butler steak, Caesar salad and onion soup, all lovely and perfectly cooked.
Go support this fantastic local restaurant we need this and more like it in the ridge.

This is a pretty good version of a upscale, serious steak house in a suburb ruled by chain fast food and fork-​and-​knife Chinese food. You want to keep your order simple and avoid the fancy things. Their steaks tend to be cooked as you’ve ordered and are delightfully tender, and they do a nice, moist chicken, but avoid things like the duck which tend to be dry and overly seasoned. The staff try hard but will never make it at Hy’s. Or Swiss Chalet.
