After getting my keys made at Home Depot and finding that NONE of them worked, I looked up a proper locksmith, which yes, I should have done in the first place. This place was a bit hard to find, being part of a big business area. I kind of had to drive around the parking lot a bit. Once in, everything went smoothly. The lady at the counter was very pleasant and mentioned that they often get referrals from the nearby Home Depot when the keys don’t work. She also told me that one of my keys(a Schlage that said«for reset only») was a discontinued model because it fails on people. She warned me that the lock key will very likely stop working in it. This was true, the keys for that lock(including my original one) doesn’t work in that lock and I replaced it. The other keys she cut worked beautifully. She also gave me some great advice. Since keys deteriorate with use, it’s best to keep one key around that’s for cutting ONLY. Then you keep making copies of that one key when the others crap out. Bonus: the key cutting cost less here than at Home Depot! I’m definitely going here again for all my key and lock needs!
