Be prepared to satisfy your sweet tooth. Tons of asian snacks and candies, from shrimp chips to hamburger gummies. I think you can get those fabled green tea kit-kat bars here too. Large selection of dried fruits and other random Asian dried goods in jars in the middle. Buy in bulk and bring it home for your grandmomma. Just play it cool when you get to border patrol and they ask if you have anything to declare ;)

Like Pacific Mall itself, this shop is so much more enjoyable when it’s empty and you can have a conversation with the friendly owner and his father – he’s the adorable old man wielding the tongs who’ll let you sample some of the dried stuff in the large canisters if you sweet-talk him. I walked away with some dried mangos, Japanese wasabi peas(get the real Japanese stuff, not the knock-off brand from Malaysia that comes in a tin), Chimes ginger chews, and Meko matcha green tea mints that are at the counter. I also tried some of sarah l’s delicious purchases: chewy-hard lychee candy that made my mouth water and sweet, salty shredded pork jerky. You’ll pretty much find all your favorite J-snacks like Pocky, Collon, and Kasugai gummy candies. There’s another candy vendor on the 2nd floor of the mall but Ding Dong provides more signs in English, just in case you can’t read the Chinese characters that spell out«Vegetarian Goose Meat.» Wha?
