I wanted to give a higher rating, because technically this company DID get my goods to California from Toronto. I’ve moved a lot in my life, but this experience in particular was nightmarish. And despite many opportunities to make things right they’ve chosen not to. Timing: Global sold me my move quoting that my goods would be 5 – 14 days in transit. But it was two weeks before my shipment even left Toronto. My shipment was almost a month in transit. Updates: The company was silent on the status of my goods. For the first two weeks, I couldn’t reach anyone in real time or via email to tell me where my shipment was. The first time I heard from my representative was when he called for more money because my shipment had apparently been stopped at the border. Mysterious charge: Global charged me $ 800 for a «random U.S. customs inspection» crossing into the U.S. But it was never able to produce any documentation that satisfied me that my goods were actually inspected. They produced an invoice from the shipping company they subcontracted to, Gary Mercer Trucking, but neither that co. nor Global could prove my goods were actually stopped. The paperwork Global showed me could have been anyone’s shipment. Furthermore, the Gary Mercer invoice for my supposed random inspection charge was dated three days before my inspection was said to have happened. Possible overcharge: Global charged me on the basis of the weight of my shipment, and weight my goods at 8,460 lbs. But the company that actually delivered my goods, a subcontractor named Chipman, indicated a shipment weight of 6,700 lbs on its bill of lading. When I inquired about the discrepancy with Chipman, they assured me their weight was correct. The discrepancy suggests fraud and overcharging by Global. When I asked for clarification on this, Global chose not to explain the discrepancy. Damage to insured item, refused to repair: Among the most valuable items I own are two very expensive stereo speakers. I bought $ 4000 in insurance from Global specifically for them. I supervised their packing. On unloading, I watched the crew open my goods with box cutters before I could stop them, and I found scratches on the top of one of my speakers. The speaker damage was shown to the crew supervisor and acknowledged in writing on the inventory sheet. I asked Global several times to arrange the repair of my speaker but they have ignored my request. My initial interactions at Global were with a customer service agent Mike Morse. My latter interactions were with Jim Petrakos, apparently the owner of the co. I expressed to them both several times how disappointed I was in this move, and invited them to make things right. But they have chosen not to. I have paperwork supporting all of the above and an email trail. If you’ve taken the time to read this review, I urge you to not do business with Global.

I had used Global International Canada to organize my move from BC to California. Mike Morse was my point of contact. For the move, I ended up paying more than 60% of the quoted price. Mr. Morse originally told me someone would come to my apartment to examine my goods in order to develop a quote, but this never occured. Rather, he had me fill out an online survey, which I filled out as accurately as possible, given the lack of guidance provided. When the movers came to my apartment the day of my move, they said there were a lot more items than what the moving company had told them, but then they told me the size of the crate they were expecting to use. It was probably 4 feet by 10 feet large. I was shocked to hear this was what they were expecting given that on the form I completed, I indicated a queen size bed and frame, a couch, and a bookshelf, among several other pieces(e.g., rug, chest). These items would not have fit in a container that size, so I can’t help but think the original quote was inaccurate and purposely done so to gain my business. I completed the form to the best of my ability but no one came out to see my goods, even though originally they said someone would. No one asked for dimensions or even called to clarify the items I was taking. What is the purpose of providing someone a quote if the final price doesn’t even come close to the estimated amount? I expected the company, as professionals, to provide a reliable quote. Global International and Mr. Morse did not any take responsibility for mis-quoting me in the first place. Rather, I felt like my good were held hostage until I paid the overpriced rate. Once I did pay, I never heard anything from Mr. Morse, not to acknowledge the receipt of my payment or to confirm that my goods were delivered. I received no customer service whatsoever. I would never recommend this agency to anyone and warn individuals to steer clear and choose a different company.

What a great moving experience! I just moved to Toronto from Manhattan and the move went without a hitch. The packing crew in New York and the crew in Toronto were very professional. Jim made all the arrangements for custom clearance so I didn’t have to worry about anything. If I ever have to relocate again I am going to request this company to do my move.

Pete seemed honest but then they contracted AMS and we were screwed. All AMS did was lie to us and hold onto our furniture and refuse to help us and give us answers. I can’t say anymore because we are currently in litigation. Yeah it was that bad. Pete seemed fine but they contracted a corrupt group to move ourstuff to the US
