2.5÷5 NKS Banquet Hall replaced what was Mong Kok Chinese Restaurant. Not sure what happened to Mong Kok as I thought that place was getting good business, but the interior of the restaurant didn’t change much at all. They did revamp the reception area though, and it looks quite nice. This place uses a mix of a cart system and order form system… which really should be communicated more as my family and I assumed it was strictly a cart system. When we arrived at around 2:30pm, we noticed there were very few carts lying around, but no order form available. We had different answers on how we should order, which I found to be really weird. Eventually one of the servers took our order in writing; something unorthodox in a dim sum restaurant. When the food arrived, we can tell something was wrong… everything tasted very lukewarm. It felt we were getting the sloppy seconds and leftovers. Mind you, the food tasted decent for the price we paid, but I would’ve definitely enjoyed it home if it was a lot warmer. Overall it seems this place is a step down from Mong Kok in both food and service. It’s still a good place for a low budget dim sum experience, but there definitely are better places out there.

Came here for dim sum lunch today, haven’t been in over a year and they have changed management. The great thing about coming here, is the size of the place. You rarely have to wait for a table or the wait is quite minimal. The walls have all been whitewashed and all wall decorations have been removed. The stage has been altered to the opposite side of the restaurant, to where it used to be. The food was ok, nothing great but nothing really bad. At $ 2.98 per S, M or L dish, you can’t really complain. Early bird special is before 11am, and is $ 2.68 per S, M or L dish. The dim sum used to come out on trolleys/carts but they have been abolished. Only saw 1 congee cart. The food is now brought to the table on trays. I personally, prefer the carts, rather than placing the whole serving tray on your table. But times are changing and most restaurants serve like this now. The hot water for the tea, wasn’t very hot. Overall, not a bad place for dim sum, less noisy than a lot of places. But I personally, prefer the hustle, bustle and atmosphere of noisier places. If you want a nice chit chat then it’s better here.
