We’d finished a little bike ride around the area, and we were kinda fishing around for dinner options. Unilocal actually didn’t show this one as really being close, but I found it on Google Maps — although the location is still a little bit off. It’s set back a little bit from the street, down an alley. Inside, the décor is your typical pub décor. It was late afternoon, near the end of cottage season, so it wasn’t incredibly busy. They’ve got a good selection of beer on tap, some micro and some macro. We ordered a couple of beers and a poutine. The poutine was pretty good. They use shredded cheese, but their fries were pretty great — nice and fresh and crispy, and a good gravy. Unfortunately, it went a little downhill from there. It wasn’t really the food itself, it was the portion size. Lee ordered the steak and mushroom pot pie and the amount of food in it was pretty bad. The bowl was maybe one third full, with a bit of puff pastry on top. It was good, and he liked it, but for $ 16, it was not a very good value for the money. A similar story with my fish and chips. It was a pretty tiny piece of fish, and a lot of fries, and it tasted well enough, but I’m glad we ordered the poutine, otherwise we would have been pretty hungry at the end. So go to this place for some beers and snacks, maybe not for a full meal.

Good food, ample portions, nice selection of beer, attentive service — a pleasant experience — we’ll be back.
