For years I thought that the Home Depot is THE store for home makers but once I actually bought my first house and my trips to hardware store became more frequent I began to realize that Home Depot is capitalizing on this perception unfairly. I don’t see any bargains there at all. It;s not a big example but I just bought a pack of tomato seeds and my total with taxes was approx CAD 2.75 and when I opened the pack I got roughly a total of ⁸⁄₁₀ seeds. I don’t know what else you will call a rip off. I bet this pack cant cost more than a quarter to make.

very helpful people at this home depot location. the ladies at customer service desk are very easy to deal with.
the store is smaller than US locations but pretty much anything you need you can find it. some specialty items may not be available but you can go to Heartland location as well.
