I’ll start by saying we have bought steaks and other products from here a number of times and never had issue. My girlfriend went to buy two sirloin steaks and after a very odd back and fourth with the owner, he convinced her that strip steaks were sirloin steaks. Brought them home, as soon as I saw, we both went back. She advised him they were the wrong steaks and we’d like two sirloins instead. He took the steaks back, a few minutes later came back, brought up new sirloins, gave us our change for the difference and we left. We returned home and they were the same striploin steaks with just the fat trimmed off. I myself have worked in a few restaurants, hands on with many steaks and other cuts of meat and if this is how this place wants to run their business, so be it. Will not return and will be telling others to avoid them and their shady practices.

I’ve been to a few game meat places, and this is by far the best in terms of selection and service. They also have a butcher area where you can get fresh game meat as well. A++ in service and quality !!! It’s in a really nice area(Mineola) as well !

If you want to be ignored by pretentious arrogant staff then go ahead and waste your time and money at this joint. The grass fed prime rib roast is in the oven and will be cooked to perfection. I’ve got the money to spend and the skill to make magic in my kitchen. Sorry boys you lost what could have been a loyal client. Terrible customer engagement. Regardless of how good your product is, it’s not worth a return visit.

I’ve been coming to this shop since it was located on the corner of Lakeshore and Montbeck. The staff are always incredibly friendly and are always eager to help out. While this place is known for game meat, their beef is second to none as far as I’m concerned. Wet aged, 60 day dry aged, PEI grass fed or Kobe style, these guys have it all. The dry aged product is simply amazing and very reasonably priced and melts in your mouth(the wet aged makes for a fine steak if you don’t feel like splurging on the dry aged). Not in the mood for beef? Check out the selection of game meats, seafood, chicken and pork(just cooked a pork shoulder I picked up a few days ago and I’m still salivating); they have it all. Be adventurous and try something you normally wouldn’t think of: camel or kangaroo anyone? This truly is a carnivores paradise. So, what are you waiting for?

Firstly, I just want to explain the process I was going through to find a few good suppliers. I am a very avid home cook, love hosting fun get-togethers with friends, but also I really focus on great quality meats(& other ingredients). No question, it is easy to find good quality meat around Toronto, yet the prices don’t quite justify it. I understand completely, I want all good quality businesses to make money, and to justify downtown Toronto rent — it’s no surprise that prices need to be a bit higher. Now to Black Angus… I have known about Black Angus Fine Meats & Game for many years, as almost every week(sat mornings) I have heard about them on the Outdoor Journal radio show. The show gives a quick snippet on the store, but doesn’t do it justice. After listening for a few years, I finally decided to make the short drive to the Mississauga location. They are advocates of amazing«game» meats(which I love, and many great health benefits), but I was there looking for the barebones meat, BEEF. Although they really push the game meats, and I know(from restaurant contacts), they are THE premier source for game meats, that’s not why I was there. Truth is, they have some of the best beef(and traditional?) meats at prices that put any other retailer to shame, from my experience. They dry age beef(in a very simple display), offer incredible grass-fed meat, and will essentially cut anything you need. The best part of this story is, not only do I feel like I am getting great value — I have been to many butcher shops, and Black Angus ranks in the top tier. I hope this helps people in the west end looking for a quality butcher! Plus, I have also tried many of the game meats and it’s so much fun experimenting with new meats. Give it a try!

Best place in the GTA for game meats. Great for someone looking to try something different, Croc or Roo for example.
