Fun fact: this library building used to be a Lowney’s chocolate factory(Cherry Blossoms, anyone?) Although the small selection of novels in English is heavily slanted towards romance novels and westerns, you can reserve other books from throughout the network. Warning: you only have 2 days to get there once your book comes in. There is a large children’s section that looks like fun… I will let you know if I ever get the opportunity to use it. There are lots of workspaces on the library main floor, but hardly any of them have access to electrical outlets so if you bring your laptop, you’re better to go upstairs to the Café de Da(internet café). Wifi access(Ile sans fil) is finicky — I can usually get it to work on my laptop but not on my cell phone. Tip: if the library is closed, look for the book slot is at the northeast corner of the building next to the parking lot. Don’t panic(like I did) because the book slot is nowhere near the building entrances. The Maison de la Culture upstairs has both a gallery space and a performance space and rates at least 4 stars.
