Bistro sur la rivière

Petit Resto de quartier sympathique qui n’est pas très loin de la rue Ontario. Belle ambiance .Le menu est très bon mais né change pas souvent. J’ai trouvé les soupes très bonnes surtout avec le poivre rose. Devrait être un peu moins cher par contre

This bistro has a very intimate, neighborhood restaurant feel… and the food was delicious! We ended up sitting at the bar since all seats were taken even on a Thursday evening, but enjoyed watching the chef prepare all the dishes. The Bistro Burger was AMAZING. Seriously one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. Would love to recommend this place to anyone who lives in the neighborhood or is visiting Montréal!

Not a pleasant experience again mostly because of the owner Jean-​Louis: he ruined our whole experience over whipped cream… that he did not have. How can you serve an alcoholic café, with nothing to top it off, not even frothy milk? So I ask and he became very upset.
He’s the main problem with this place, NOT THE FOOD. He has D list local stars coming over, therefore he is now a local star with a bad mouth and attitude. BTW the way this place is a 32 seater.
We spent over 200 $ for 3 people… The bavette has been the best in Montréal for a long time. I have especially been a fan since it’s beginning.
The attitude problem is rampant, you know what they say, all comes from top management. So one client, I suspect one of his servers (he was sitting there at the counter with nothing in front of him) started getting involved, not minding is business and giving me a hard time. He did not even know that the whole issue is about whipped cream on our special coffees.
It is DEFINITELY not worth the detour, since it is pretty much in the middle of nowhere, not worth the taxi ride, I strongly recommend that you do deleted The Bistro sur La Rivière from your agenda unless you are a D list local star or simply like to be verbally abused by the owner or one of his staff for a stupid issue, like effing whipped cream or something this insignificant.
We did tip the poor waitress 30 $, the poor thing has to deal with this mess of an owner. Jean-​Louis, do yourself and your business a favor and get a year off before you ruin it all.
Not worth it even if the food is great. Attitude mostly but location also is an issue

Ce bistro vaut le détour. Les plats sont beau, toujours frais et ce n’est vraiment pas cher! Il y a seulement une trentaine de place alors il est bien de réserver. Le seul hic pour moi c’est les heures d’ouverture!
