It’s a tiny walk-up stall in Chinatown pumping out enticingly sweet, waffle aromas. The man behind the magic is constantly on his skillets churning out dessert egg rolls. Flavors range from plain, black sesame to green tea. He’s cash and debit only, so once I accquired some monies from the ATM, I went straight back to the stall. I was a little disappointed that he sells them in packs of 12(I only wanted a couple to try), plus they are not made-to-order. According to him, he has to let them cool or else they get mushy in the boxes. He did a little pitch about someone who’d cleaned him out the other day, how earlier one person came by a second time to buy more boxes after he’d eaten them all… the usual salesman stuff. I obliged by buying a box of the black sesame dessert rolls. True to his word, they went FAST. Light, not too overly sweet, paired perfectly with some tea and coffee.

Dessert de Taiwan is located in Montréal’s tiny Chinatown. As were walking by this little storefront, we were drawn to the scent of freshly rolled egg rolls. These are not the normal egg rolls one would expect to find in a Chinese restaurant. These egg rolls are dessert egg rolls. There is no filling inside. They just taste good. Makes for delicious snacks. Not sweet at all. Just tasty. Next time that we are in Montréal’s Chinatown, we may stop in again.

This place was awesome :) The man who worked in the shop was really sweet. Try the hot almond tea! Got it twice.

This place is a hole in the wall — just the way I like it! But the stuff they were pumping out was less than I expected. We got a few different types of milk teas and fruit smoothies… although they were all tasty, they weren’t filled to the top. I don’t know what the fruit smoothies tasted like, but I got a mango milk tea and it tasted like mango pudding. We also bought some Taiwanese desserts — freshly rolled egg rolls which made EVERYTHING a million times better. The little red bean cakes aren’t as chewy or fresh-tasting as I would’ve liked and I ate a couple bites before throwing the rest away. Ultimately, as much as I’d love to say that this place is THE place to go since it’s Taiwanese, the only things I could recommend were the egg rolls and watching the little lady make them.

At last! Real Taiwan style snacks and bubble tea! The owner, Kevin, makes lovely, light, delicate, flakey dessert«egg crepes» as you watch– so light they practically blow away as you eat them. One bite and I am back in Taichung… The bubble tea here is the best on the block — and since there are numerous places to get bubble tea on this strip, that is saying a lot!
