Ambiance de malade !! La bouffe bonne mais pas exceptionnel, mais quand le temps de payer est venu j’ai vraiment fait le saut ! Très cher pour la qualité des plats ! J’avais vraiment l’intention dit retourner mais je vais passer mon tour

Ce restaurant est toute une expérience culinaire. D’abord l’environnement est super festif avec des serveurs qui sont un peu comme des acteurs également et que peu importe ce que tu leur diras au risqué de sembler super-​imbécile, ils feront en sorte que tu né te sente pas ridicule.
Puis la bouffe, alors c’est un peu cher oui mais c’est le genre de restaurant que tu y vas une fois de temps en temps pour l’occasion alors va s’y les poches pleines et paye toi la traite pour de vrai c’est la que ça vaut vraiment la peine. Il y à une surprise qui attend presque tout le monde en arrivant, il n’y à pas de fourchette. Alors, c’est parce qu’à l’époque médiéval ils mangeaient leur boustifaille avec leur mains. La grosse cuisse de canard comme dans les films comme ”Les Visiteurs” et tout. Sérieusement, c’est pas gênant du tout c’est même très amusant surtout si tu y vas en couple ou en famille. Enjoy !!!

En couples, entre amies en famille, les plats sont généreux, savoureux, de la cervoise, des bières du Québec.une ambiance de folie on ce croirait dans les visiteurs. un concept super.

Au deuxième étages, la bouffe était bonne, le divertissement super, le service de qualite,
Cependant a la fin on reçoit une facture de 550 $ service compris qu’il faut payer cash ou par débit. Apres discussion on peut payer par carte de credit pour une surcharge de 3%, ce que je sais illégal… Mais bon on paye et on quitte.

Un des meilleurs restos à Montréal burgers au bison, pomme de terre extraordinaires, dejeuners legendaires, tout est bon au menu! Un habitué quand je restait à Montréal. Ambiance extraordinaire avec le serveur qui nous parle avec un jargon medieval et chansonniers qui nous font revivre les tenps medievaux avec musique etc…

The Auberge du Dragon Rouge is a very unique place in Montréal. Upon entering the restaurant, I was surprised to noticed that even the clients (for most part) where dressed in medieval clothing and behaving erratic.
There were people playing great medieval songs and shanties. And every time someone would order a large meal they would screen and bring all the attention to the table. Some of the songs were also drinking games. For example, whenever the bard would sing the month of your birthday, you would be invited to drink whatever you were drinking.
The food is delicious, and almost everything contains boar meat. They have a large selection of beverages, including Mead and alcoholic coffee.
Those who were willing to drink the «Dragon’s Blood» (a mix of alcohol and tabasco) were invited to stand on the table and swear an oath (both English and French) before drinking it. There was also a dance with people that had birthday’s that month.
The only two downsides: People really do get excited and can get pretty loud. This is absolutely not the place for those seeking a calm bar to talk to friends or significant other. Also it can get a little bit expensive. Me and my friends spent around 65 dollars each for the meal and a few drinks.
The décor of the place is very well done and does look like something out of a museum. In my opinion it is well worthy it. Probably the closest to a medieval tavern experience that you will have in Montréal.
Note: Oh, by the way. Be sure to reserve ahead of time. It fill up pretty fast and the first time I went there, had to find some other place to eat.

Super ambiance, super service, patron et serveurs plus que sympathiques… on se sent résolument bien dans ce restaurant ! Ce n’est vraiment pas mon type de nourriture, mais les produits sont frais et maison et les chips à la cannelle valent vraiment le détour ! Si j’y retourne? Oui !

On rentre à cet endroit et boom on rentre dans une nouvelle époque. De la musique de troubadours, une belle décoration, des hommes et des femmes aubergistes qui nous racontent des jokes et SA PARLE TRÈS FORT! Bref, c’est une belle ambiance jouviale. J’ai mangé des côtes levées de sanglier et de porc. Succulant! Vous devez absoluement essayer les chips à la canelle dans vos choix de patates, c’est incroyablement bon!
Mais… J’ai été un peu déçu quand même. Le service était incroyablement long… mais très long… Nous étions un groupe de 7 et on a dû crier AUBERGISTEEE, ON A FAIM… AUBERGISTE ON A SOIF…à plusieurs reprises… Vous devrez débouser 6 $ pour les troubadours (Ce qui est correct, car c’est eux qui font l’ambiance et le méritent amplement). Le choix de l’alcool est okey… cependant pas de Happy Hour malheureusement…
Bref à essayé une fois dans sa courte vie!

mind you, its been a long time since i went there. i think the last time i set foot in this lovely establishment was during last year burger week but i’m not sure.
all i can remember is the food being tasty, atmosphere being quirky and loud and portions are HUGE!
its a meat lover heaven and i think i went into a comatose state because of it hence my lack of remembering.
food, especially meat, lover beware!

Honestly one of the best restaurant in this town … Its location is very hidden as it is situated in the north east of Montréal. Freaking love this place and the employees that work there, they really love their jobs and make sure that you feel at ease and comfortable within their castle :3
I haven’t tried much except their burgers, but holy hell does this place makes excellent burger and good fries and sweet potatoes chips.
I have actually went here 3 times over the last two months. As my first experience of le dragon rouge was an I call within their establishment, i could not be more satisfied about my meal that night and so did my partner .
I had the boar pig burger in the past which tasted dry but perfect. I’ve gotten the Butcher burger which came with half a pound of meat and merguez sausages. Can I say it was delicious ?! Yes I will rate this burger top 2 in Montréal, I’m not joking.
The side dishes include sweet potatoes chips and giant hand made potatoes ! I’m not gonna lie probably the best potatoes and fries in Montréal as it comes with GARLIC SAUCe, YES YOU heard me right, THIS Establishment have garlic sauce and IT MAKES THEIR SIDE DISHES PERFECT .
Lastly, I can say that I’ve brought two friends to this place, and they can’t believe how good this restaurant is in term of food, service and establishment. Fact is during the night, the staff gives an excellent show that is mostly in French, but very fun and exciting as it put ambience ! Take out order is absolutely amazing — takes about 10−15mins, in the mean time you can drink water and watch the establishment show, or chill under the terrace. Seriously, do not be afraid to come within the domain of this restaurant as you will be amazed by this unique medieval restaurant :)

Avis à ceux qui souhaite manger tranquille et au calme, ce n’est pas fait pour vous, ici vous êtes dans un auberge on parle fort on boit et on s’explose la panse avec la boustifaille !!!
J’aime énormément le thème médiéval de cette place, vous serez accueillie par les serveurs costumés qui sont de joyeux lurons. Ici on les appelles par le prénom enfin on cri: «Delphine j’ai soif, un hydromel s’il te plait !» et c’est avec grande joie qu’elle nous l’apporte dans les 5 min, si ils ont un peu de temps ils s’assoient discuter un peu aux différentes tables.
Donc vous l’aurez compris le décors et l’ambiance sont présents et pas qu’un peu.
Maintenant passons à la carte. Enfin surtout pour ma part le coté «galette» (alias les burgers). Pour chaque galette vous avez 3 formats les prix variants selon la grosseur: ¹⁄₃ de livre, ½ livre, 1 livre. Vu la taille du burger et la quantité de frite (là aussi trois sortes différentes) les prix sont plus que corrects.
Donc, j’ai goûté à la galette de L’Ogre (Mozzarella, bacon, champignons, poivrons, oignons) accompagné par les frites épicées c’est simplement excellent et j’ai eu beaucoup de mal a finir alors que j’avais pris le petit format.
Pour boire je prend de l’hydromel (pour rester dans le thème), j’ai goûté au deux plus fortes et je les trouve vraiment bonnes.
J’essaierai une prochaine fois les plats et je reviendrai faire un avis la dessus.
Je conseil cette place à tous ceux qui veulent passé un très bon moment entre ami pour boire et manger dans cette merveilleuse ambiance d’auberge x).

Je m’attendais à être déçu et finalement on s’est beaucoup amusé. Attention c’est très bruyant (du moins pour la souper). Ce n’est pas le bon endroit pour un souper en tête-​à-​tête. Mais si vous êtes le moindrement attiré par l’univers médiéval/​fantasy vous passerez une des plus agréables et surprenante soirée que vous pouvez imaginer autant à cause de l’animation par les serveurs et les musiciens que de la cuisine inventive. C’est certain que je vais y retourner avec ma gang pour pouvoir goûter le plateau de festin de Gargantua. Je l’ai seulement aperçu de loin et je me pensais dans «Game of Thrones»

Quel endroit magnifique, ça change du quotidien, le décor médiéval, les serveurs déguisés et la bouffe originale. Je recommande fortement le restaurant ainsi que le spectacle au deuxième. Un bon sang de dragon pour les plus braves et amenez-​y vos amis pour leur fête, ce sera une vrai fête avec de la danse entre les tables, ma blonde m’en veux encore!
Le seul hic, c’est souvent plein, il faut toujours prévoir une alternative et aussi, vous devez tous êtes présent en même temps pour avoir la table, sinon vous devez attendre avec de l’alcool au bar improvisé à l’intérieur, non mais, de l’alcool (devinez qui arrive toujours trop tôt).

J’y suis aller pour un déjeuner avec des amis, vous devez y aller!
Ils offrent un oeuf de dragon (oeuf d’autruche) pour 8 personnes et plus!
La couenne de sanglier remplace le bacon et croyez moi, vous en redemanderez.
Les prix du déjeuner sont abordable et l’humour reste au rendez-​vous!
C’est un must si vous aimez les déjeuners du weekend!
Je vous conseille l’assiette déjeuner avec canard confit, avec le plat de couenne ‘on the side’ biensur!
Bonne appétit et n’oubliez pas qu’ils n’acceptaient pas les cartes de crédits à l’époque médiévale et qi’ils né l’acceptent toujours pas aujourd’hui.

This place is quintessential 514:(joie-de-vivre)^inf. Testament to the high fun quotient of the entire island, this gem is not located downtown but is in one of the northern ‘burbs.
You’re not seated until everyone in your party has shown up but that just builds up anticipation as you see others having fun.
The décor is tacky fun: dragon heads, rustic lamps, very woodsy, supported by appropriately clad wenches and minstrels!
The food is hearty, tasty fun: bison, boar, fries et al. It’s been a while since I last visited but the garlic fries left an indelible impression! The menu is a bit lacking in the vegetarian department, but vikings and kings didn’t dine on fiddleheads and arugula!
The entertainment is über fun: it’s very participatory as the waitstaff amble up to you and target you in a gentle roast or an awkward dance! The minstrels provide the background score to add to the ambiance.
I’ve had many great memories in this renaissance themed restaurant: being asked to belly dance with another random patron, having friends asked to entertain the room at large, singing with the slightly tipsy waitstaff (they drink while they serve you)!
The Red Dragon is a bit on the more expensive side, but then again, no one said that entering the belly of the dragon wouldn’t come at a price!

Ce restaurant à thème médiéval est un lieu culte incontournable à Montréal. À chaque fois que je suis allé dans une soirée, je suis revenu avec environ 40 ou 50 écus en moins dans ma bourse mais ça valait réellement la peine. Le prix est élevé mais l’ambiance, la décoration, le menu varié d’inspiration médiéval et la musique vaut réellement la peine d’avoir cette somme en moins dans ma bourse.
Bien entendu il faut aller dans une soirée avec beaucoup d’animation comme un vendredi, samedi ou dimanche, pour profiter d’une soirée folle et inoubliable.
N’oubliez pas de goûter au sang de dragon, aux ailes de dragonnet. Ce sont les meilleures ailes de poulet que j’ai mangé jusqu’à présent. Il faut aussi goûter à la Quenelle des Vikings ainsi que les galettes (hamburger) qui sont eux aussi excellentes et surtout énorme! À l’auberge, il faut goûter à l’hydromel ou à des bières artisanales du Québec.

L’auberge du Dragon Rouge est une institution ici à Montréal. Il s’agit indubitablement de l’expérience cullinaire et culturelle la plus originale de la ville. Des troubadours tournent autour des tables en nous délectant de leurs chansons grivoises et de leur bonhimie sans borne. Les prix sont très élevés mais le service, l’ambiance et la qualité de la bombance et de la ripaille, comme on dit là-​bas, font de cette coûteuse dépense une expérience à recommencer.

Dragon Rouge is an experience. A refined medieval experience with roving minstral and period dress. The team is all about the experience … it takes you back to a better time … if only for an evening …

En même temps que vous dégusterez du sanglier et boirez une bonne cervoise, vous pourrez apprécier la musique folklorique des troubadours qui jouent dans la salle tous habillés façon médiéval.
Un très bon endroit pour faire la fête et bien manger, en couple ou entre amis dans un décor magnifiquement moyenâgeux!
Attention toutefois à réserver car le service se termine tôt certains jours.

I recently went there to celebrate my Birthday…
I have been going regularly for year to the main dining room and have always enjoyed the atmosphere and the ambiance… if you don’t like crowds stay clear of the place on weekends.
What made this trip different from my usual one is that My group of friend and I reserved the Upstairs ‘noble room’ and had a wonderful 3 serving meal with lively animation and excellent service.
The food menu is set depending on the banquet you choose in advance (you can check the various Menu at
— in French only).
While the servers/​actors were comfortable enough in English (we had a priest, a young guy called ‘mousse and a wench called Freya, the 2 latter were rather quiet but efficient) The entertainment was mostly in french, even if I had requested, was promised and confirmed that it would be no problem to have some in English; some in french. Only 2 people in my party of 21 spoke only English, but still it was a small disappointment and the reason I removed a star.
All my guest had an excellent time… and I am not sure it is standard practice but I was offered and enjoyed a shot of calvados on the house.
The food was good, well presented and timely served. I personally had the ‘sampler’ platter which is a bit of all the other 3 choice on the set menu.
If you want to have the place upstairs I would recommend doing reservation at least 6 month in advance. And that is the only way you can reserve as the main dining room downstairs is always first come first served.
if you want to get a feel of the place while it is quieter a lunch there (or going early afternoon) is a good idea. Want to experience the whole experience… Friday or Saturday night is the best.
On another note they only Accept Cash or DEBIT card…

I’m going to have a hard time finding words to describe this place…
My husband and I have been to Auberge Du Dragon Rouge twice while visiting friends in Montréal. The first time was a wild enough experience that I HAD to go back. Our first time visiting we arrived to find about a 2 hour wait to get a table for our party of 5. Eh… wasn’t crazy about that but our friend/​tour guide insisted that it was worth the wait. Finally when we got in, we entered a small restaurant whose dining area was maybe the size of my LR/​DR, yet seated DOZENS of people, jam packed in. If we were in the US, this place would certainly not meet fire code! Once we sat down, luckily, we felt right at home.
During the entire meal, the wait staff walked… that is… SQUEEZED, in between our tables singing and playing on their banjos. Being as everyone speaks/​sings French, I could not understand a word, but it was still fun. As soon as our waiter found out that my husband and I only spoke English, the (friendly) harassment began! The harassment only got worse when I ordered the one (and only) vegetarian meal on the menu — veggie burger.
The most interesting part of the meal comes AFTER you eat, when the wait staff asks who would like to prove their allegiance toward slaying dragons (or something of the sort) by drinking the blood of a recently slayed dragon. The «blood» is a warm drink consisting of Tabasco sauce and I think whiskey, and before you drink it, you have to stand on your chair and take an oath of allegiance! Crazy enough that I regretted not doing it the first time, and was the sole reason I made a point of going back this past year. Needless to say, the blood does not taste good, but it was fun enough that I’d do it again!
The lack of vegetarian options would probably normally cause me to take off a star, but the fun and unique atmosphere made up for it. Definitely a place to go with a group of friends, some of which hopefully speak French, as the menu is in French.

Went there when I was 18. Had to wait a big hour. Reservation at that time could only be for 10 – 15 persons group. As Christine say, Your world change into a medieval roleplaying which you get in easiely and I could not stop thinking; Do they like their job after 3 – 4 years of Imitating something, acting… Anyway, after looking waiting so long, we got our seat and we were already at our 2^nd of 3^rd beer. I took a Bison Burger with a basket of Fries. Not i’m not quite sure about the burger but the spices they uses for the fries and the way it was cook, i remember it was amazing! By the end of the meal, my friends had the idea to humiliate me and make me dance. YEah Go Fat friend, dance, Dance like you’ve never dance *run forest quote* (one of the many humiliation! :P)

It’s been 10 years since I went to l’Auberge du dragon rouge. But this place provides the kind of experience that is hard to forget…
As soon as you get there, you are in a new world. You are in the Middle Ages, where everything and everyone — the food, the people, the vibe, the decoration, the language — reminds you that you entered a new world.
They sing, they scream, they’re dressed in a fully middleagerian (?) way, and you can’t help but getting over your pride, finding yourself screaming, «AUBERGISTE! À BOIRE!!”* standing on your chair, before realizing it.
It’s a little far, but easy to reach by metro.
*= I wanna drink!
