quartier latin is ok. its the french part of downtown montreal. i used to hang out there a lot as i attended UQAM but i really don’t go there anymore as there isn’t much besides franchises, be it restaurants or bars. mind you, some bars are actually good like saint-bock for example while some are bad like saint-sulpice. as for restaurants, not much worth trying. the only reason to be at quartier latin is if you’re looking to bar hop as there’s a lot of bars and if you want to hang out with other students or try to pick up students, whatever you fancy

This was one of my favourite areas of Montréal and I made a point to walk through it daily on my comings and goings. It is a very diverse area that will have something to suit just about anyone. There are tons of shops, restaurants, and nightlife as well as entertainment. The streets can get rather crowded during the evenings but this is nice as you feel like you’re in the center of a living, breathing city and not just a tourist area. I did have a bit of trouble with the homeless in this area. They were a bit bold and tried to block my path on the sidewalk. As a woman, I wouldn’t want to go walking through here by myself at night but during the day its fairly safe.
