This place is amazing. I’m just chiming in with all the other reviewers here to say that this is where you’ve gotta go for a fun evening with friends. You can actually talk to everyone there, enjoy your company and wake up the next morning at a human time because you didn’t exhaust yourself! The«gamesmasters» are amazing and pick out the perfect games. The service is fantastic and so friendly! I had a slightly strange interaction waiting in line because I went in to get my name put down and the host seemed very annoyed at me! I didn’t realize they weren’t taking down names! The line up outside is always long so steel yourself for that. I didn’t give them a 5-star review because the food isn’t very good. My friend ordered the saddest looking nachos(yikes) and the hot chocolate I got wasn’t memorable. I think ones best bet is to go with their selection of david’s tea or their beers. Enjoy!

Great board game pub. Very helpful and attentive staff that checked in a bunch even though it was packed. They have a huge selection of games and staff designated to help you choose one and explain it to you. Wine was good, but wish they had more of a non-alcoholic café menu too.

Just the coolest idea for a bar ever! They had a large amount of games, most were unheard of to me but they had servers teach me the games. The place got busy later in the night but the servers were still quick to serve and come to teach. I didn’t have the food but the drinks were decent. The bar is an amazing experience for anyone.

Five stars $$ RECOMMEND — Best board game bar in town. You know, it is a very good sign of a place when there is a line up outside St-Denis street. The food staff have been on point with their service. For rookies, there are two friendly gamemasters that go around catering new faces with board game selections and instructions. Friends and I spent hours playing Settlers of Catan(2 hours game) and Codenames(15 minutes game). Playful vibe, old school music. This place is magic and it is more than I can ever dream to discover the best of Euro board games. With this much time spent together, make great connection even with the new person across you at the table. Plan to return BEFORE peak hour. Worth the time and the $ 5 coverage per night. no complaint other than there could have been more bacon in the mac and cheese. $ 13 for a pint of cider. Randolph gets my thumbs up. However, for those who prefer a quieter and less crowded ambiance, can easily resort to Chez Geek next door.(N.B. I am one of those persons that almost don’t ever write reviews but we have been so happy as returning customers.)

I wish more than anything else to have a bar like this at home. This place has a super thorough collection of hundreds of board and card games for you to try, plus a full bar and food options, all for $ 5 cover. It’s a pretty popular place though, and we’ve seen lines of up to 30 minute waits on Monday & Tuesday nights. It is a full-service spot, which means there is waitstaff to take your food & drink orders, and game masters to help pick out, bring you, and — get this — introduce and walk you through how to play each and every game so you don’t have to struggle with the instructions and spend more of your time laughing and strategizing with your friends. All of the staff there is super friendly and the vibe of the place can’t be beat. Their menu is straightforward but covers a wide gamut — they have sandwiches, salads, nuts, olives, gummies, nachos, beer, wine, shots, hot drinks. Though I can’t really speak to the food there, I offer fair warning that their pulled pork nachos($ 12CAD) is easily one of the worst things I’ve ever ordered anywhere in my whole life. Like plastic on cardboard, no exaggeration. But that didn’t ruin our night at all; that’s how amazing this place is.

This place was awesome especially if you are as big of a board game fan as I am. I specialize in banananananagrams but have been working on venturing outside my comfort zone recently so this place was the perfect solution. They had hundreds of games lined up on the wall that covered every type you can possibly imagine. Looking back, my biggest regret is not playing«hungry hungry hippos» because I have distinct childhood memories of how neat it was. They have people whose sole job is to teach and recommend games to you — you should definitely utilize them this way you can try something different for a change! We ended up playing a trivia game, a dice game, and even one that involves drawing whales. These kept us occupied for maybe 3 hours. They had some good drinks. I love how Montréal has made«bloody Mary’s»(aka Bloody Caesars) a socially acceptable and appreciated drink all day and night long. The US needs to make this a thang all night long because I’m really into that lifestyle. Food was mehhhhh but I guess that’s to be expected. All in all awesome experience — hashtag Brian definitely thought about killing me due to my completely over the top competitive nature even when playing games meant for 6 year olds, but hey we survived and had a wonderful time doing so.

We visited this bar twice during our trip to Montréal from Los Angeles. My boyfriend and I LOVED it here. The $ 5 cover charge per person is well worth it and we’re avid board gamers, so their over 1,500 board game collection was impressive. The guys that walk around and help you pick out a game are super friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. We had to much fun playing here and their food is very good too. I highly recommend this as a place to stop, relax, and play a few games while you drink and eat. It gets crowded later in the night, so if you can come before the rush, I’d recommend that as well.

A MUSTVISIT! I’d say go in the afternoon when they open, definitely starts to get busy closer to the evening. Nothing like playing games and having a drink. There are two types of waiters here, one who takes food/drink order, very nice and came back regularly to check in, and other who helps with the games. You decide what type of game you want to play or he makes a suggestion. First game was a suggestion and it was super fun. We played three games and they were all great and stuff we had never played before. The game waiter explains the rules and then watches you play a round. When it starts to get busy he doesn’t come around as often to check in but that’s understandable, we never had to wait too long for a new game. It’s a flat $ 5 to play per person. Drinks and food can get a little more pricey but it’s worth it!

This is certainly a novelty place and made for a unique night out. Went here as a group of 4 and were seated upstairs. Basically looked like a bar-crossed-board-game-library. There’s more lighting than most bars but it was appropriate for the board games. We didn’t get any food but I had two hard ciders from a local brewery that were good. The main appeal of this place is the wide variety of games available in both English and French. We played a few different games, a mix of fast, strategy, bluffing, and trivia. The game experts were phenomenal. They engaged us well and explained the rules effectively for each of the games picked out for us. Each were always around for quick questions… I was impressed with how many games they knew and how effectively they communicated to us. Overall, if you’re looking for a spin on a weekend night out, come here! Missing the last star(barely) only because our friends got here earlier and couldn’t get a drink or anything without first having a seat. Seems like a good way to get business while waiting for the next empty table.

A board/card gamer’s heaven and an awesome place to go to have drinks or hot chocolate during the winter and play a few board games with your friends. The staff were attentive and friendly and I really enjoyed myself. I had the apple cider and it was delicious! And when I say board games, I literally mean libraries full of them with many additional copies of them too in case someone else wants to play with that same game you plan to. The selection is amazing in both English and French. There’s an entry charge but let’s be honest, if you didn’t pay to get in you’ll just come here and free load these free games won’t you? Buy a drink, maybe three and have some fun.

anal rape by night! so, on a monday night, we had an elite event at randolph for some fun games and stuff. usually, we have a separate Unilocal page to review the event itself but since there’s none, its gonna be on the main randolph page. nonetheless, the experience should be similar for those who didn’t attend. first off, we were welcomed by a not so familiar face as our beloved CM had personal matters to attend to. we can’t blame her. life always comes first. WEMISSYOURISA! now, the replacement host was none other than our Quebec city CM. nice! meeting another CM from another city. that’s always fun. as the clock hit 7pm, which marked the start of the event itself, Yannick and our randolph host welcomed us to the event and that we’ll have a nice fun evening playing some board games and bonding with unfamiliar Unilocalers. that part was kind of a bum. at our table, we had a «new» Unilocaler while the table behind us had about 5 new Unilocalers. we kind of left them out as we were too absorbed by our games. i feel bad about it. in all, we were about 15 spread on 2 tables. we were told about 30 were on the list. lots didn’t show up then! anyway, we played a game of drawing telephone game. don’t remember the name of it but like the telephone game where you tell your neighbor what you heard, instead, you’d draw it. stupid funs were had with the drawings. that’s where the anal rape by night comes from. what was the original word? i don’t remember but laugh out loud funny we did. after that, we moved onto the beast itself, cards against humanity. heard many things about the game but never actually played it. it was as dirty as it can get despite me being stuck with unplayable and unfunny cards. as for drinks, we each at a cocktail/beer of our choosing(from a list), i didn’t drink any as i had a very bad experience with the iced latte from santropol earlier but that’s for another time. and we munched on some nachos. its pretty standardize pub fare and that’s ok as you are here for the games. very very big walls of games they had. in all, we had much fun despite having the regular group of elites showing up at almost all events. it felt more like a UYE than an official one. maybe because it was monday night or that it was raining outside or because our CM wasn’t present or that people just suck at showing up or that we weren’t inviting enough to include the unfamiliar Unilocalers that showed up. that, i don’t know. anyway, fun event despite crappy evening weather

The concept here is that you pay a 5 $ cover to have access to the pub’s gigantic board game library. They have staff that wander around with suggestions and help you with questions, rules etc. You can really tell that they are passionate about it. You never feel rushed to make a decision, they will even stick around for your first few turns, help you with whatever you might need. That’s not all, they also have some pretty nice beers and delicious food. In the end, your night could be a little pricier than in a normal bar, but it’s worth the experience every once in a while guaranteed.

I never got to review this place! I remembered about this place when I went to a similar bar in Washington, DC. Randolph beats all the board game bars I’ve ever been to! $ 5 admission fee gets you unlimited games to play! There are sooooooooooooooooooooo many games to choose from. SOMANYY! The workers here know a lot about games, so if you don’t know what to play ask them! Very knowledgeable staff! I was introduced a game here, and I stumbled across the same game at a mall in U.S. I explained the game to my friends, and we played a quick game of it. My friend loved it so much that she bought it! Drinks: There’s no drink minimum, which is pretty great! They serve coffee, tea, and alcohol! If you are in the area, you definitely have to stop by! Weekends are busy, and there’s about a 10 – 15 minute wait. Not terrible! Great place to hang out with friends, try out new games, and have fun! We need more of these places in U.S.A!

What an interesting concept for a bar! For a $ 5 you can play board games to your heart’s content. Not a board game person? Nothing to worry about as there are consultants on hand to make recommendations based on your interests. If you are an avid gamer then you’ll be in heaven as the walls are lined with tons of board games. Drink prices are on par for Montréal bars. They also are adequately strong. You could really taste the whisky in my Irish hot chocolate so I felt that I got my money’s worth. There is also a decent food menu. The prices are very reasonable but I do wish the portions were slightly bigger. I had the bacon mac and cheese and while it was tasty(and cheesy) I still wasn’t full when all was said and done. It is popular and since it is small it gets crowded very early. I came for happy hour and by 7 or so it was full so come as early as you can. My guess is that weekends are way worse.

OMG, THISPLACEISTHEBESTEVER!!! Board games and drinks. They have over 1000+ unique games to choose from that are sure to fit anyone’s taste and style. Even as a board game collector and enthusiast, I’m blown away by their collections! You don’t need to know how to play to come here. The waiters are extremely knowledgeable and they can suggest games that suit the group. They would teach you how to play the games and even play a few rounds with you if necessary. Oh, and make sure to try out their Irish Hot Chocolate! There’s a $ 5 cover fee per person but there’s no limit to how long you stay or how many games you play. Apparently if you come after 8pm on Friday or Saturday nights, there’ll be a line outside. If there was a store like this where I’m from, I would come here every weekend!

So much fun. Absolutely wish we had a place like this where I live. I was a little worried going to this place with just two people. However, my girlfriend and I love games, so we figured it was worth a shot. Without a doubt we saw the large groups and thought of what a fun time it would be with some of our friends. However, the«Game Masters» were able to help us select games that would suit our needs. In this case: two people, less than 1 hour, and strategy focused. We listed some of our favorite games and the«Game Masters» helped us make a selection. We were both so impressed by their advanced knowledge of the hundreds of games in the collection, all of which we had access to for $ 5 a person. There was also a selection of snacks and alcohol. We didn’t have snacks, and the alcohol is nothing to write home about, however, for a casual setting, the snacks were just what they needed to be. This is a low cost way to have a very fun night-out as a group or just a couple. The staff is friendly, accommodating to English-speakers, and overall super aware of the game collection.

A friend suggested the place and I was a bit sceptical: what to expect? Would we have to join other groups? As it turns out, the staff is rather soft-spoken and patient. They are very open to you coming in and asking for a specific game! The waitress is a tad pushy on the drinks, there’s a great selection of them, but all over $ 8. The nibbles look delicious, next time I’ll be in, I’ll make sure to try the giant cookies and home-made hummus! Yum! Don’t be scared though, once you pay the $ 5 cover, you can play however much and however long you want. You can change the game you’re playing. it’s all very flexible. The only minuses I can see would be that the space is cramped and fairly loud. Regardless, I’ll be back!
