If you like ‘old timey’ music and you have never been to the wheel club on a Monday, then you must be new.
Usually a legion, the place s kind enough to open their doors to the public on Monday nights so that we may partake in the awesome music and insanely cheap alcohol prices… you know… if you’re into that sort of thing on a Monday.
It is open mic and you get to play two songs but for the love of Pete, don’t get up there and kick it around the block. Montréal musicians from all over the island pop in at the wheel club, as well as fart load of Concordia students on assignment. As a result of which, you may overhear slander in a bar one day or open a student paper to suffer a massive ego blow, be forewarned.
Another rule, no songs that were written after ’65 and this is STRICTLY enforced. If you try and play ‘Wagon Wheel’, you will be stopped, mid-​song and escorted off stage.
And that is why this place is awesome.
