My husband and I ate dinner here while staying in Windermere. My husband enjoyed the shrimp and scallop pasta which he said was good. I ate the Basa tacos which had a great flavor! The staff was very friendly and the view on the deck was gorgeous!

Not the best experience so far. They said that it was their last day to be open, so they were out of a lot of stuff. We ordered the Margherita Pizza, we originally ordered the Arugula & Prosciutto but they ran out. We waited for a while before it came out and when it did we were not impressed. The look of it can only be described as them running out of ingredients, the dough that they use is old and frozen, barely enough tomato sauce in it and roughly around 3 – 4 small pieces of basil. It did have 4 big blobs of mozzarella cheese. Over-all not very impressed. Maybe it’s because it was their last day of being open that season, but come on! Service was below average also, it’s as seem they all just wanted to go home and sleep.

Good food, and great Muskoka experience. If you want good ribs this is the place to go.

Terrible. Everything. Terrible. Service, food, price for quality, cleanliness… I don’t even want to waste my time writing down all the gritty details, since they are redeemed by nothing. Have a meal elsewhere.

Kids pizza is good. Service was great. Buffalo wings are the way to go and they have a great spirits menu. Most importantly the atmosphere is great. A must go to if your in Muskoka!

This place is a joke. The portions are extremely small for the price you are paying and the quality is TERRIBLE. The food tastes like something you’d throw together in 5 minutes because you’re drunk and you don’t care what your food looks/tastes like. The service was also subpar. We saw our waiter(questionable– he was wearing a hoodie and looked like a customer) twice: when he took our order and when he brought us our water(which tasted like sewer water, by the way). No one came by our table to ask us how our food was until we were finished. I did not tip and I wish I didn’t even have to pay for that atrocious experience.

Great food in Muskoka if you’re looking for good but decent food. Try the chicken beast, you will not regret!

Turtle jacks is my go to place for drinks and apps in the Port Carling area. It has car and boat access, which means it is a water front property! The deck always seeming to be packed; who wouldn’t want to be out in the fresh air on a nice warm day! The décor blends well with Muskoka, it has a modern woodsy feel to it. The service can be a hit or miss. I’ve been there and have had fantastic servers who will go out of their way for their customers. I’ve also had server’s who were slow or… preoccupied with their coworkers. The food is mediocre at best. It can seem a little over priced. For the price you pay I would suggest to stay away from their bigger dished and stick with their appetizers or fried food(the pad thai was horrible!). All in all, go to turtle jacks for the Muskoka experience, grab a beer or a jacked hurricane and enjoy the scenery!

The restaurant has a great location on the water and the food is okay but the ladies rest room are always discussing, put you right off

The outdoor patio is beautiful and the view of the water is amazing and surprisingly we didn’t have to wait to get a seat! Unfortunately the waitress was unattentive and a little bit rude at times. The meal was great but the appetizers were a little bit bland and unexciting. Overall it’s good, but not great and the service can be slow and lazy. Not worth it for the money you pay in my opinion.

Looked like it had lots of potential. Big space, nice dock and had decent traffic considering the vacation season just ended. I had higher hopes than what we got. Our Waitress was relatively inattentive. She was pretty and polite and attended to my toddler pretty well enough bring crayons and stuff to color and a high chair which was great. We ordered and we got our appetizer — which was tasty but expensive $ 12 for quac and chips. The big gotcha here was when she conveyed our order slip had been dropped in the kitchen. But that the burger and fish and chips would be really quick. 10 minutes later I started looking to find her and 2 minutes after that our food arrived and our extra charge sweet potato fries upgrade were burnt. We took the food we got to go at that point because as anyone with a toddler know 30minutes without real food makes for a very unpleasant experience in a restaurant. Considering their food mix up, and the fact that they burnt the fries and still brought them out, I would expect they may comp something on the final bill to make thing right– but no. What I really think happened is that we had a really bad waitress who was more interested in everything else but work and got busy chatting or otherwise with the cooks or texting with her boyfriend or girlfriend and just ignored her job responsibilities. She obviously was not being well supervised and couldn’t go to the effort of showing her /their mistakes by making it right on the bill. It’s just a guess…

We visit Lake Muskoka every summer, and every summer we notice that the building currently occupied by Turtle Jack’s in Port Carling has changed hands once again. This summer was no exception. When we docked in Port Carling the first time this season, we noticed the new Turtle Jack’s. We figured we’d give it a try for lunch. The results were fairly good. To begin with, the décor is open, airy, and perfectly Muskoka. There’s also a large outdoor patio overlooking the dock and water, tho we were unable to eat out there because of the long wait for a table. It was crowded when we showed up, which we figured was a good sign. We were seated right away inside and handed menus that smacked of an upscale TGIFriday’s, complete with glossy photos and drink promotions.(When I Googled Turtle Jack’s later, I wasn’t too surprised to learn that it is, indeed, a Muskoka chain.) We ordered some drinks and perused the large, somewhat overwhelming menu. So many options! Salads, pizzas, sandwiches and wraps, burgers, pastas… a real mix of everything traditional. We ordered some wings to start. They arrived with TJ’s homemade spicy barbeque sauce, which was good, but only four sad little carrot and celery sticks. After our empty wings plate was whisked away, we awaited our entrees… and waited… and waited. It took forever for the food to come out, we estimated we’d waited almost 30 minutes AFTER the appetizer disappeared before lunch arrived. We were all famished and ready to eat each other’s arms. This place is slow by anyone’s standards, including slow-paced Muskokan standards. The food was pretty good, if typical. A Waldorf salad was huge and given the unusual additions of cranberries(a Muskoka staple) and mandarin oranges. It was delicious. Stir fry noodle bowls were nicely prepared with al dente udon and fresh, crisp veggies. The sauces were clearly from a bottle, however. The hamburgers were really interesting — My Big Fat Greek Burger came with chopped onion, tomato, and cucumber, and a sprinkle of feta cheese; the Smokehouse had Swiss cheese oozing over the top and that lovely homemade BBQ sauce. The two diners who ordered the noodle bowls found the amount of sauce lacking and both asked for extra servings to pour down over the dishes — in keeping with the slowwww service, it took almost 5 minutes for the extra sauce to arrive. When you’re already starving from the initial wait, you definitely don’t want to have to sit around waiting for an ingredient you feel necessary to continue eating your meal! Overall, tho, our experience at Turtle Jack’s was fine. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was decent. We’d just like it to arrive to the table a bit quicker.
