Our favourite place for BBQ! The fried chicken is incredible, and the coleslaw that goes with it is equally delicious! You may have to wait a bit for your food, but I assure you that it is worth it!

Go for the bucket of fried chicken and enjoy the tasty warm biscuits that come with it. BBQ sauce is on the sweet side(I think they use honey) and we love it because it’s different. BBQ beans are awesome too! Ribs can be a bit dry depending on when you order. They have a special where you sing your order for a discount… I’m having kids practice yodelling so they can sing while I order in rhythm.

Me being a fan of a decent BBQ after having spent some time in Memphis, TN, on business. This place is GOOD! A bit slow, not licensed in terms of beer. Located on the outskirts. But we are avid fans who come here ones a month just to grab that meal for the sake of it. Its a fast food place, no fancy expectations — but it simply tastes great!

The guy I am dating tipped me off on this place as a filler before heading all the way down to a show(Finger 11 Halloween party). This is inside the Quay so there is a cafeteria food court seating. Just a warning that it is normal for them to take 25 — 35 minutes to pre your meal right. I had the black bean chilli which was okay. It was more sauce than substance which was disappointing. The biscuit was very fluffy. I tried some of Gareth’s ribs and they were really really good. Amazing smoked after taste that lingers forever. Fries were nicely seasoned. Staff were really friendly. If you sing your order your get 5% off on Fridays. If you have a long beard you get 10% off. I didn’t have a beard(Gareth was thankful of that) so I sang by order for the discount. They have freshly squeezed lemonade soda.

FINALLYREALFRIEDCHICKEN! This place tucked in the New West Quay is a nice change of pace. I had the fried chicken dinner with coleslaw which was amazingly delicious, and my fiancé had a brisket sandwich, which was great, and biscuits & gravy had a nice kick to it. The presentation however, being served on a sheet of paper made it a sloppy mess to eat, but still was excellent. The staff was super friendly… and cute! HIGHLYRECOMMEND!

Great location and by far the best BBQ I’ve ever had. I will definitely be returning to try other menu items.

We came for an early dinner. We ordered the following items: 1) rack of pork ribs — good flavour but a bit dry. 2) 1 pound of beef brisket — very tender, with a nice BBQ sauce on top 3) biscuit — nice and buttery 4) coleslaw — not good. Flavourless, a bit bitter. Recommend skipping this 5) fries — decent. This added up to $ 50+, which was a bit pricy, but we had a bit of leftovers. We will be back to try the other dishes.

I love meat! And this place has lots of it. I love their ribs especially. Service is a bit slow but good things come to those who wait. They close whenever supply runs out so I probably go in a little early just to be on the safe side.

Best fried chicken I’ve had in my life! If you’re lucky enough to get biscuits fresh out of the oven, they practically melt in your mouth. Maybe the best BBQ I’ve had regardless of geography — Louisiana, Texas, California, and Portland included.

Only one thing to say… southern fried chicken. So good. Been here many times and yes, it takes a little longer, but have never been disappointed.

Definitely not my favorite BBQ place. Brisket was dry they had no beans or BBQ Chicken and the guy never even gave me my biscuit not to mention it seemed to take forever. This place does not even come close to measuring up to a real BBQ joint like Memphis Blues on Commercial drive. I strongly recommend them for a real BBQ experience just tell them Coquitlam Mike sent you. Oh yeah the Memphis on Robson St is awesome too.

Been here a few times and love it! They have some of the best fried chicken I’ve ever had! I definitely recommend the fried chicken sandwich. Comes with guac and AMAZING bacon. Hopefully they do another dinner night with Steel & Oak soon!

Pulled pork is amazing. Great overall comfort food. Definitely not the healthiest place around. I wish they had some healthier options!

Delicious! Crispy fried chicken, brisket, warm buttery biscuits and ribs! You must get almost all of the items or bring more people with you so you can share! We had 5 people with us and that helped a lot! Not too busy at all when we arrived on a sat afternoon of the long weekend. It was a little after the lunch rush around 2pm. Definitely go here & enjoye yourselves and the view.

Stellar food. Best fried chicken we have ever had, tender, great batter; ribs were perfectly done; slaw was tasty and the home made cola was delicious. Honestly worth the drive from Vancouver’s west end. Note that they close for a break around 3pm and open up again around 4pm so don’t get caught out. But so so good!

I’ve been wanting to try this place out for the longest time but it never worked out because they have odd hours and close relatively early, even on weekends and whenever I have gone during the day they were too busy and had ten orders ahead and only two or three people in the kitchen. Anyways, the boyfriend and I got it to go one night. We both got the pulled pork sandwich. When we got them home we eagerly started devouring them. They were mediocre at best. Soggy buns, too much sauce of some sort so it became mush and there were massive chunks of meat in there. Not even half way through and I found a hair in mine. It was short and curly… hoping it was from the short haired guys head and not somewhere else… ahem. No one in the kitchen wore hair nets, by the way. So it’s no surprise I found a hair! As for their fries, nothing to write home about. But I quickly threw out the rest of my food after finding the hair. Never eating here again and will continue going to Memphis Blues for my BBQ cravings.

We are instant fans! We ordered the pulled pork sandwich, 2 piece fried chicken, biscuits and country gravy. We’ve had plenty pulled pork concoctions in our day. What we enjoyed about their version is that it’s not contrived — they didn’t dunk the meat in a bath of sugar, sauces or fat and let the natural flavors of the meat come through. Their fried chicken was crunchy outside and moist inside. They sell the chicken by the bucket, which tells me that their integrity is most likely maintained even when moist. I’ll have to discover that myself. Their honey and BBQ sauce complements the meat of the chicken well. The honey shines through but also reminiscent of maple syrup. The biscuit is delicious and wildly popular. I do as the Americans and combine my biscuit with country gravy, which wasn’t so successful. The 2 items stand well on their own but, when combined, you lose any flavor of the gravy. Overall, we were pleased with the friendly, enthusiastic service and the quality of the food. We’ll definitely be back on our next visit!

At first site, the place looks hip and ready to serve the best southern BBQ you’ve had North of Texas. You can’t help but to notice the smell of the smoker in the back of the store. The food even looks pretty good on the tray — and the service was pretty fast, too. However, the flavours were quite a bit off. The first bite I tried was the coleslaw which had waaaay too much vinegar(or something acidic, anyhow). I could have removed the paint on my car with the coleslaw. Then I noticed that I didn’t have any vinegar for my fries. I went back to the counter and asked for vinegar. Guess what? They didn’t have any, I was told! A BBQ place which does not have any vinegar for your fries?! You’re kidding me, right? I guess they used all of the vinegar in their coleslaw. But wait. Although nice and tangy, even the pulled pork in the pulled pork sandwich had waaaay too much acid in the sauce. I’m now fearing that I will need a good dose of Pepto-Bismol now. Such promise — but this place fell flat on its face. Won’t be back.

They hooked me with pulled pork sandwiches a long time ago, and the BBQ platters on offer at the New West location are even better. The smoked chicken is my favourite, especially alongside a fresh biscuit and some chili. Or for breakfast, a couple of slices of the house-smoked bacon, an egg, and biscuit and gravy. Yummmmmerrrrsss! But they get an over-the-top 5 stars because it is not only great BBQ, but a great community business and friend to farmers. The eggs are free range and meat is ethically raised, mainly from local farms. They are also partnering with Urban Digs farm in South Burnaby to help offer CSA-type boxes with meat and/or seasonal produce, by subscription. Super nice folks who care about food and make it extra-ridiculously delicious — what else could I ask for?(Another helping.) Re-Up BBQ is a(conscious) meatarian’s dream.
