We went there tonight the first time! The service was very good and it’s a very nice place to hang out and chat as they are not as noisy as other chinese restaurant. It’s a small place but the food was pretty good! We ordered a ginger and green onion fried lobster and some other dishes including shrimp and vegis spring rolls. Food came out at a decent time and i like how their food are not too salty or too oily. I can taste they didn’t add much msg into the food(they probably didnt add any!??) We got a daily soup which is lotus and pork soup. I didnt taste any msg in there so i was happy to have that… it remind me of my mom’s soup back in my homeland! it feels great that there’s a good chinese restaurant in New West near where i live! And again, the owner is super friendly and nice! Their kids were helping them out too it feels like they raised the kids well as the kids are very polite too. You may feel like i am exaggerating but my heart feels warm when I was eating there!

We came here because this dim sum place had the highest review in our area according to Unilocalers, but it was such a disappointment. They didn’t have chicken feet an hour after opening. They said it’s not ready yet. It’s the first dim sum place I have been to that does not have chicken feet. The place is small so the smoke from the kitchen gets to the dining area. The chopsticks are worn. The waitress was making dumplings on one of the tables in the dining area and a fly stopped on the dumplings. It didn’t look very appetizing. Our throats didn’t feel very well afterwards either. They said they would accept MasterCard but they wouldn’t accept our Costco MasterCard(is that even legal when you advertise that you accept MasterCard?). The waitress was somewhat friendly towards the end after having a strict face for the first half of our time there, so I’m giving it two stars; however, I wouldn’t come back again.

a solid choice for dim sum and chinese food if you’re in the area. to be specific, i’ll list the hits and misses. hits: the menu prices are all-around quite reasonable. although you will need to pay for the street parking at the front, there is ample free parking at the back which is great. as for the food, the chow mein noodles are especially delicious. dim sum is overall above average quality in terms of taste. Notably, Steamed Pork Buns, Pan Fried Turnip Cake, Steamed Pork Ribs, and the Shanghai Dumplings were quite tasty. food was hot and served well presented. service was relatively quick and friendly. you definitely get that«mom and pop» owned place feeling. (small!) misses: pot-stickers were were mediocre and bland but at least there was ample meat in there. the fried rice was a bit bland in terms of taste. the place is definitely«cozy». it would be great if they had a bigger place because unfortunately the place was pretty full at lunch time and they ran out of chairs. some of our guests had to sit on uncomfortable plastic stools. not the best at accommodating very large groups. we left the restaurant satisfied and will return again to try their other dishes and dim sum in the future if we’re in the area.

After early-morning medical appointments in New Westminster recently, we were ready for lunch and decided to head over to Spring Garden for dim sum. It had been a long while since our last dining there, and we were looking forward to the experience — a ‘reunion’ of sorts! We arrived about 10:30am(the restaurant opens at 10am), parked out back, and entered via the small, back door from the parking lot(some attractive, eh?!). Yea, everything looked the same, and so familiar — the same owners, with their friendly, smiling faces, and nice welcoming greetings. Upon entering, there were three tables worth of diners, which rose to five quite soon after we were seated, and our young server(whom we had not met before), was already very busy. What we(threesome) ordered: tea, beef meat balls w/bean curd sheets, pork dumplings w/tobiko(shiu-mai), braised beef tendon in curry sauce, crystal prawn dumplings(har gow), pan fried chive w/shrimp dumplings, rice flour rolls w/prawns, and deep fried squid w/peppery salt. The standouts: the shiu-mai, and especially, the beef tendon in curry sauce — still so good! The prawn dumplings and squid preparations though, were a touch off the mark. Our young server was busy, but from beginning-to-end, took good care of our needs — a nice beginning touch, before placing our order, she took some time with us to ensure that all the items checked off on the menu were exactly what we wanted, and we sure appreciated how she kept our tea and hot water pots full throughout our meal. No particular surprises with the food — it was much as we remember from our previous dining experiences — decently-prepared and presented dim sum dishes.

We just ordered Chinese delivery from Spring Garden. Wow what a great surprise. Delicious, not greasy and close to home. We’ll be back!

My friend introduced me to this little place a few years ago and I, in turn, introduced it to my family… now this tiny family-run restaurant is our go-to New Year’s Day dim sum place! Great food, great prices, great service. Their dim sum menu is pretty standard but they do it so well. They’re clearly a neighbourhood favorite. Personal favourites: Shrimp spring rolls(a-mazing!); deep fried tofu with peppery salt topped with sliced chillies and crispy bits of garlic(they also offer cod, prawns and squid cooked in the same fashion… all just as delicious); stir fried radish cake in xo sauce; sticky rice wraps. Their har gow and shiu mai are decent but less memorable. Next time you’re rolling through the neighbourhood; check them out!

We are first time dim sum rookies and our friends love this restaurant. They dined with us today and made all the orders — no worries about what to choose. This is a low-key, simple, family-run restaurant with fresh and delicious food. I can see why our dim sum host selected this place. We ordered many, many dishes, but for me, the favorites were: pork dumplings with tobiko(shiu mai); pan fried shrimp with chive dumplings; stir fried radish cake in spicy XO sauce; and surprisingly, the minced pork and preserved egg congee. We had heard about the preserved eggs(we were dubious) and never tried congee either — this was really delicious. Six of us ate to our absolute fill and the bill total was $ 75. This is very reasonably priced. We live in Vancouver but we will drive 30 minutes to eat here again. Now we know what to order!

I just got home with my family from Dim Sum. I have lived in New Westminster for 12 years and this is the first time I have eaten here. I don’t know what I was waiting for or what I was thinking. All the food was very fresh and flavourful, the vegetables were crunchy. I have have now found my go to place for Chinese food near me. No need to drive to Richmond

Came here for dim sum last week with 3 of my coworkers. I know all of the good places are in Richmond so why venture out to New West? Well, I wanted to come to this place for a while now. I first heard about this place from a friend and the pictures of their dim sum looked delicious. A few minutes before heading there, I almost got cold feet and decided to change the venue to some other restaurant in Richmond afraid that this little joint where the majority of the residence there weren’t Chinese and that they would disappoint. This tiny restaurant is run by a mom and pop, where the mom is the server/cashier and the pop is the(head) chef-the only chef perhaps. Their parking is at the back which was near full when we went. Interestingly, you can enter from the back instead of taking a detour to walk in from the front door. There were two tables that were taken but still got a few more to choose from. We opted for the booth to the left(if entering from the back). It’s not the cleanest restaurant out there but I didn’t notice anything that grossed me out. Just a tad bit old and the color of the table clothes and what-not wasn’t very vibrant and new-looking. We got our tea served(several to choose from) and were ready to tick off the boxes from the dim sum sheet. I already knew what I wanted, so it was like doing an exam with my eyes closed(if that makes any sense). So…we ordered: —(Siu Mai) Pork Dumplings w/Tobiko(4⁄5): These were HUGE and had lots of tobiko on top. Tasted delicious and no skimping on any of the ingredients here –Braised Beef Tendon in Curry Sauce(3⁄5): I was never a fan of chinese curry so not my favorite. The tendon was not too soft nor was it hard to chew. –Rice Flour Rolls w/Prawns(3⁄5): The rice sheets were too thick and made the dish less tasty –Stir Fried Radish Cake in Spicy XO Sauce(5⁄5): This was full of flavor and was also served with some bean sprouts on the side which tasted really good with the XO sauce –Beef Brisket & Rice Flour Roll Hot Pot(4⁄5): This is my all-time favorite to order for dim sum. Flavor and texture of the beef brisket was there but again the rice sheet rolls were not smooth and too thick –Glutinous Fried Rice w/Chinese Sausages(5⁄5): Huge portion of glutinous fried rice topped with crispy peanuts. For someone who doesn’t like rice dishes, this one is on the top of my favorite rice dish I’ve eaten –Deep Fried Egg Tofu w/Enoki Mushroom(4⁄5): Never had or heard of this one before so was curious to what it tasted like. Looked like deep fried coconut macaroon balls. First bite into it was soft with a sponge-like texture. I think it was basically chopped up tofu in egg mixture. Didn’t really notice any trace of mushroom. Must be finely chopped or it got lost somewhere with the rest of the ingredients –Deep Fried Sweet Milk Custard(2⁄5): This was served last with some granulated sugar for dipping. It was definitely deep fried but the filling was not custard for sure. It did not have the liquid consistency I was looking for and was rather firm. Overall, it was not bad. I was pretty satisfied. With a group of 4, we racked up to about $ 45 and had a lot of leftovers. I will definitely come back when I’m in the area.

I believe in giving others a second chance. So I came here again thinking that it would be better. The food did get better. However, the service… Wow… it was the worst service I have ever had in a restaurant. The lady owner was so rude to us. They asked for another chance and this is how it shows. Thanks! I will never be returning!

Based on Unilocal reviews we tried this place for take out and this is now our 3rd time ordering. Food is fresh and good and priced right. I am always leery of places that don’t charge a reasonable amount as that tells me that the ingredients are not quality. This is our new favourite place for Chinese take out

When was the last time a chef at a Chinese restaurant came out to your table, smiled and genuinely chatted you up? Chef Calvin and his wife Janice are the friendliest Chinese restaurant owners I’ve encountered. It really is as mom and pop as you can get. I’ve been a few times now and every time I notice they know pretty much every one of their customers. Sure the ambience is a little dated with some Xmas decorations still strung but I’m all about food, not an interior designer. Everything is made fresh. You’ll see Janice meticulously folding dumplings(all of which are very tasty). We’ve been for dim sum and dinner and were pleased with each dish. My girl ordered delivery last night and the Chef himself delivered! Now that’s service. You can usually get a table right away or with a minimal wait. No more waiting for the big joints any more for me. Love supporting such a great couple.

Good food. Decent value. Springs rolls were excellent. I was a bit put off when I walked in to a completely empty restaurant. While the person serving me was quite pleasant, I’m glad I was doing takeout because it would have been awkward to eat in. I probably wouldn’t order again, only because the location is too far from my home.

Simply THEBEST Canadian-Chinese food dinner we have had in years. We really enjoyed our meal(my birthday dinner this time) at this quaint, family run restaurant. It was classic Chinese style cuisine. The owners were very sweet and it was like being invited into someone’s home for dinner. Even one of their kids was sleeping in the booth next to us. The won-ton soup starter was so delicious I could have been satisfied with just that… the dinner for 2 was $ 26(a steal) and came with the soup, egg rolls, beef & vegetables, chicken chow mien, sweet & sour pork and endless cups of jasmine tea. We couldn’t resist taking a photo of the owners. It is well worth the trip to 12th Street.

I’ve been here a few times now for dim sum and have never left disappointed. The restaurant is quite small and gets easily busy during peak hours so I would recommend going a bit early. Hubby and I usually order 5 dishes and our total bill comes to $ 21 which is a great deal for decent dim sum. The food tastes fresh and the service is great. There is also free parking in the back of the building. This is definitely my go-to dim sum place when I’m in the New West/Burnaby area.

My son and I went there for dim sum. The place was not full when we got there, but it was packed when we left. The service was excellent and didn’t suffer when it got busy. Our server even took the time to show my son how to use chop sticks. The food was fresh, delicious and hot. I’ll definitely be returning.
