FINALLY! A great little sushi restaurant in the heart of uptown New West. Unlike the other ones we tried here, this one had fast, FRIENDLY service, as well as some fabulous sushi. Their crispy California roll was a nice twist on an old favorite. The tempura shrimp we ordered had a nice light coating, not heavy or greasy. Endless cups of Japanese tea too, we love that. THUMBSUP for this cute café, we will most certainly return.

Cheap and friendly are the two main selling points for this place. The décor is dated and dirty, and the rolls never taste right because the chef uses way too much vinegar and mayo in every roll.

5 stars for a place in new westminister. A couple friends were over and I was debating on whether to take them to okonomi house which I know was decent or take the risk to come here as it was a small restaurant. Sure enough was a hidden gem. Sushi had minimal rice around it. Lots of stuffing In the sushi. Sashimi quality was 3.5÷5 but extremely gracious pieces. Order the love boat and crispy roll you won’t regret. Spicy agedashi tofu was good too Surely to return

The worse sushi I have ever had. That says alot because I’ve had some really bad sushi. But this takes the cake.

High quality ingredients, great presentation, excellent rolls, udon, teriyaki and sashimi. Small restaurant with limited seating. Wonderful staff. Highly recommended. Spicy chirashi don with salmon, salad, rice and seaweed is an entire meal by itself. The sweet chichen karrage with thai sweet and spicy sauce is crunchy and delicious,.

Sigh. I’m unsure as to why, but I seem to always get insatiable sushi cravings on Mondays. Sadly, this is one of the days my go-to sushi place(Sushi Paradise) is closed. We usually hem and haw and decide to try some place new hoping that it will be on par, or at least acceptable. When it comes to sushi there are a few points I take into consideration. Quality, flavor, proportion of ingredients and texture, precision or technique and lastly, price. Price wise, this place is amazing. VERY cheap considering serving size. Which was MASSIVE. Quality, bleh. All fish was drowned in mayo to mask it. Flavor? All rolls tasted the same! The spicy tuna roll was doused in sweet mayo mixed with sriracha, so my spicy roll was more sweet. Rice did not have the briny sushi rice flavor that is expected. Balance of ingredients and texture: Mush. Mushy mush. Even the cucumber was soggy. Precision of rolls: Every second bite fell apart, the dynamite roll was absurdly large in diameter and about a centimeter thin. California roll was all over the place, no two pieces were alike. So many people seem to love this place and I’m not sure why. If you want authentic Japanese sushi, walk down a block and check out Sushi Paradise. Unless it’s a Monday. In which case, get a burger.

At Sushi Tang, I got the lunch box deal, but saw other customers getting the happy hour deal. Happy hour is from 2:30 — 3:30 pm. Pretty neat place with good service. The lighting is good and the atmosphere is casual.

Killer bento box deal for $ 10.99(dinner). This Korean family is a neighbourhood favourite. Service is a tad slow as there is only one chef, but their $ 10.99 economy bento box is killer. It includes: Miso, sunomono, green salad, 2 takoyaki, 3 gyozas, 4pcs alaska roll w/wild salmon, 2 wild salmon nigiri, 1 shrimp nigiri and your choice of beef or chicken teriyaki. Can’t complain.

I ate here with my spouse about a month ago. Good prices on sushi. Pleasant staff with good service. The food came quickly. Nice location, just hard to find parking, because it’s only street parking available. My spouse ordered some sort of fish, and the chef came with a warm iron block. He put it on the table, put the fresh fish pieces on it, and it fried right in front of our eyes. First time I’ve seen that, very cool, and my spouse liked her food. I have also ordered sushi for take-out and pick up from here before too, and I have no complaints. Good value and good food. Thanks for a good experience!

Just ordered the Economy special takeout and ate it only a few minutes later. The chicken was overcooked, the sashimi was luke warm, the roll was covered in a greasy mayo, and the salad was swimming in some milk like dressing. Overall, a pretty dissapointing takeout. Definitely won’t eat here again. Okonomi a few blocks up is much better.

I came because of the reviews but was extremely dissatisfied overall. I got the $ 10.99 bento box Vinegar was way off on the sushi and the sunomono salad liquid was yellow. It should be clear. The side salad was water and mayonnaise, how creative? The teriyaki chicken tasted as if it was from leftovers from lunch and then reheated. The roll it comes with, they used smoked salmon instead of raw salmon to save costs because it last longer. I had it to go, and the old lady stood in front of me staring and trying to upgrade me to the $ 15.99. no smiles or thank you at the end because i didn’t upgrade? How nice, are all your customers $ signs to you? I was the only person there! I’m not a picky eater, but to all the 5 star reviewers. Seriously?! U have to eat out more. Repeat, nope…

Great place. Definitely a highlight of my visit to New Westminster. The sushi was well made. I recommend the Love Boat — good amount for the price, and you get free miso soup AND sunomono! Staff was friendly. Had a nice conversation with our server.

First sushi place I could find and decided to try it. Everyone was so nice and I immediately noticed the other patrons comments on how delicious the food was. I ordered my standard dynamite combo and my sushi on the side was sooo tasty. The chef/owner must have noticed because I then received a complimentary sample of salmon belly it was amazing. So happy I found this place. Such amazing service and food.

This place is absolutely adorable! As soon as you walk in the staff all greet you with an enthusiastic«Hello!» that instantly puts a smile on my face. The seating is pretty limited, this place is tiny, but the atmosphere is so cozy and friendly you hardly notice the screaming children at the table next to you or the hustle and bustle of 6th street outside. This is also a fantastic place for take out. They have a great selection of sushi platters to pick from, all of which are reasonably priced, freshly made and make for an instant hit at that potluck you forgot about until the last minute. I honestly can’t say enough about the service here — whenever I’ve gone in a few minutes too early for my take out, the hostess/server always brings me a cup of green tea and a few slices of cantaloupe to nibble on while I wait for my food to be packed up. I’ve also gone in with friends who have had ‘unique’ orders, which they have always accommodated. There have been a few occasions where a complimentary miso soup, or delicious appie has shown up in my take out order, and the staff always remember to include my side order of spicy sauce with my sushi order. It’s physically impossible to leave this restaurant without the entire staff shouting«Goodbye! Thank you!» at the top of their lungs while you’re on your way out. I dare you to go in and out and NOT smile! It’s just a shame they aren’t open Sundays, or this place would be my go to for those lazy Sundays when I don’t want to cook but craving something delicious. Easily my favorite place for sushi in New West, I almost didn’t want to post this review out of fear that this place might become too big for it’s britches and move out of the neighbourhood. But the staff is so adorable, they deserve all the success that should come with running such a fantastic little gem!
