Last night my friends and I went to this place and because of what happened we would like to share our experience with you. at first we saw an ad emphasizing on their achievements as being the best restaurant ?! for 4 times. not talking about the good internal design and good servers since these were perfect. but about the food. I ordered a burger which was rubbery and overcooked and my friend ordered a stuffed chicken and steak soup. both of us got food poisoned last night. at first I didn’t want to write to this comment about the place and complain about anything but after spending a horrible night I thought its better to let others know to not trust on any ads without reading the reviews. today I had to cancel all my meetings and work cuz of the pain I had. be alert of where you go for your food

*This place is a tourist trap* I made a reservation for our party of 10 online, theres a disclaimer at the end which says something like ‘unless we call you, your reservation is confirmed’ — despite this i called them Friday night(day before the dinner date) to confirm becuase our group was larger then usual. No one answered the phone, i left a message. At the time they called back, she couldn’t even find the reservation and in order to accommodate us, it would have to be earlier or later then the time i requested, which was ok. The service was bad, she did not check if we wanted more beers or water, but would randomly refill fountain pop. Also when beers were finished, the empty bottles would be left on the table even if we had seconds, she never took them away. Due to the large party we had, she was going to apply an auto gratuity of 15% anyway. She could’ve made more by asking if anyone wanted more beer or checking on us more frequently but she didn’t, so the mandatory 15% was all she got instead of our usual 20−22% for good service. If we could have tipped her less, we would have. So on to the food: The steaks we ordered(top sirlion, prime ribs) were ok. We had a sirloin that was over cooked(came really well done, asked for medium rare) returned it and it took another 20 minutes for them to bring us another one. except when it came, it was very well done on the outside and rare in the middle(signs of using frozen meat). By this time everyone else had finished their meal so we just accepted the steak(in fear of waiting ANOTHER20 mins). My friend had a lobster fettuccine, and it was drenched in butter. Only a quarter was eaten then she decided it was too buttery, and did not finish it. She felt really sick afterwards and had to take a gravol and sleep it off. The waitress said the fettuccine was cooked at too high a temp and that’s why the fat has separated. which still doesn’t account for the pool of golden liquid below the fettuccine and why soo much butter was used in the first place — she removed this from the bill. The prices are high for what you get, they charge a TIFF tax which is VOLUNTARY tourism tax that’s implemented by the restaurant(does not go to the government), you can opt out of this, it’s not mandatory. Overall, I believe the Keg will give you better bang for buck so I do not recommend this place. Big disappointment.

This place was not very good. My husband and I went to Niagara Falls on vacation and saw they had some good deals when we walked by. What a disappointment! I had the airline chicken, it was okay but nothing to write home about. My husbands meal was horrible. My husband had a pasta meal and could barely eat it was so bad. The service was terrible! We only saw our server when she took our order and when it was time to pay our bill. I would not recommend this restaurant if you’re planning a vacation to Niagara Falls.

The décor, very impressive. The waitress was very outgoing. We ordered from the«Deal Choices»($ 68); I had a Sirloin, baked potato, veggies, desert & the wife ordered the Prime rib. We also ordered extras, cooked onions, mushrooms & the wife had wine. Dinner arrived, my steak was well done, instead of medium rare, as I requested.(seemed as though it was cooked in a convection oven, or microwave) The waitress disappeared for at least 25 minutes, yacking to some guy in a booth. By now It was beyond silly; then she finally came up for air & I was able to get her to hear my problem & go get the new order in… 30 minutes later it arrived,(by now, I thought this was a bad reality show) … Oh look, a new, full plate in front of me again; with all the stuff, I cut into it; and whaddya know — yep… it was Medium Well again.- dry like shoe leather … DOH !!! -(Oh, the wife’s «Prime Rib» … was 48% fat, by the way) Final bill, before tax $ 116CDN I paid, lucky the wife was there, or I would have made a scene. — What a damn shame this place is, I wanted to love it when I first walked in & now I’m trying as hard as I can not to hate it :(… stupid thing is, it really wouldn’t take alot to make it great… Just get an actual chef that can cook, attention to little things make a big difference, honest reviews should be read & taken very seriously — make the changes needed & it’ll be a Fantastic place to dine — The décor is 70’s Vegas /Mafia style — I dig that & the location is perfect … inside, zero noise … it just needs some TLC.

Service was slow. The food was not worth the price. Burger was rubbery and over cooked. The Cesar salad was $ 18 and the dressing had a funky taste. Kids meals are only free if the adults order certain menu items.

The food was great n I got the Prime rib that melted inside my mouth. However service was soso, at this price range I expected they could do way better. I guess since we were a big party and they charge the tips on our bills anyway, so they didn’t bother to try. Yes kid eat free here however the kid meal didn’t seems restaurant quality.

I was not sure to expect from a place that says kids eat free but you never know till you try. It was actually pretty good. I ordered the stuffed chicken and I must admit I enjoyed it to the bone!!! I took all veggies with it and they were nice and garlicky and moist as he told me with lots of flavour. kids ordered pasta and I tried the mushrooms with the sauce and it was excellent. I don’t eat pasta but the sauce was excellent.

TRAVELERBEWARE. While on vacation in Niagara Falls me and my girlfriend were strolling around for a place for dinnner. We were lured in to the BEEFBARON by an employee on the street, telling us «kids eat free with an adult entrée» as we had her seven year old daughter with us. CATCH was(which was not told to us until the bill came) that the«adult entrée» had to be greater than $ 18. One of our entrees came to $ 17.97. The girlfriend had a spring salad which was missing most everything but the lettuce and she added chicken which was literally the size of a small chicken finger. Add $ 10 for that. I had a burger, add cheese and bacon which was also missing when it arrived to the table. Unreal… Talking to another patron who had similar issues that night, they explained that this establishment used to have a long wait and was excellent but it was recently under new ownership and the quality has quickly deteriorated. I should have known better when I walked in and there was only one other couple in the entire restaurant.

While I was on vacation in Niagara Falls, someone recommended the Beef Baron restaurant. The restaurant was quiet with some soft jazz playing in the background. We were sat down and served by Mike. He was very knowledgeable about the menu, making suggestions as we were deciding on what to eat. We settled on the three course dinner for 2. We were given bread with a dipping sauce. Unlike a previous review, Mike offered another basket if we wanted one. Next, we had mixed greens salad with a raspberry vinaigrette dressing(excellent). My wife opted for the Lobster Fettuccini while I chose the Prime Rib(for a couple extra bucks you can add a few ounces more). I will have to say that the prime was one of the best tasting that I have had to date. My steak was cooked medium to perfection. Oh, I almost forgot. One of the sides I chose was sweet potato fries — very tasty. Mike checked back on us constantly, making sure that everything was okay. Both dishes were delicious as was the dessert. I highly recommend the Beef Baron for their excellent food and great service.

I saw an ad on one of the tourist maps for the area. Said they were voted best restaurant 4 times. I was not disappointed. The food(steaks) was good. Our server was very good. She had mentioned that in the off-season the place is not always open. They had been dead this early Spring. Prices are not too bad, may be a little high if you are on a burger budget. Parking can be an issue, they have no lot as it’s right in the middle of the touristy area. We had to pay $ 10 to park. It would have been free the night before, it all depends on the season & weekend.

We made a reservation online before going in case it was busy. We were sat right away. The Unilocal information indicates dressy attire but we went casual and found a good mix of both. Server was very friendly and prompt. Started off with fresh warm ciabatta bread. My only complaint is that we weren’t offered a second basket. My husband and I shared the Caesar salad for 2. Prefect amount of dressing. Home made croutons. It was great. I ordered the fillet mignon as did my daughter. My husband had the 15oz prime rib. Meals came out promptly. My steak was cooked perfectly. We requested medium which is very hard to accomplish with such a thick cut of meat. I wasn’t disappointed. The garlic mashed potatoes were creamy with a hint of potato skin in them. My daughter had sweet potato fries. She said they were excellent which. Was reflected by her cleaning her plate. There was not an ounce of food left on any of our plates when we were done. Perfect serving of food. Left satisfied but not overly full although it was difficult to turn done the desserts! Our server was great. Very prompt. Came back throughout the meal to check on us. Total time dining was 1 hr 15 mins. Will definitely be back. P. s. For those with kids under 12, kids eat free everyday.

Originally we were planning to buy a voucher for this place but decided not to. Turns out we didn’t need to bother b/c they have the same promo as what the voucher was offering. Two apps, Two mains, One dessert to share. It was a prix fixed menu. For apps we got: Kansas City Steak Soup: prime rib, potatoes, tomatoes, vegetables slow cooked in beef broth. — My first taste of this is brisket like flavour with a bit of sourness to it. I thought this soup was alright, but not that good. Gf got the caesar salad… Self-explanatory, nothing special about it in general. Also got the Lobster Spinach Dip with Wonton Chips! — Liked the wonton chips, but hardly noticed any sort of lobster in it. I guessed the creamed spinach drowned out the lobster. For $ 16 and no notice of lobster… Disappointed. Mains: Goat Cheese Crusted Top Sirloin(baseball steak). Came with sides of sweet potatoes and steam veggies. — Cooked perfectly well at MR(medium rare). The texture is quick tough to chew. Kind of reminded of a flank steak. Sides are the usual. Prime rib slow cooked(Aged for 40 Days). — Cooked well at MR but after adjusted to medium because of the very chewy texture. I’m not usually a prime rib fan as per my bad experience at the Keg once, but this place was a bit better. My prime rib tasted better than my gf sirloin steak. Dessert: Banana Chocolate Chip Cake — I could tell that this cake was dry from looking at it. I could tell its bought as well. It just didn’t look too appetizing. My scoring system for 2⁄5 is good considering of the service for a slow saturday night. Our server was attentive throughout the night as its slow but a few errors made the score reduced. 1) We got our apps and was trying to enjoy it for a few mins, then right away they brought our mains. Considered a fine dine establishment, I thought they would wait til we finish before bringing out the mains. 2) After our mains, while waiting for desserts… We waited for a good 20+ minutes until they asked if we’re ready for desserts… Then we waited another 10 mins before it arrived. Not impressed with that. Our bill was $ 94 before tips. I put a generous amount of tips considering the service was given to us. Definitely felt service level could be improved. Prob would consider other areas in Niagara Falls to dine next time. Now I see why they’re empty on a saturday night. FYI: I asked the server earlier before dining as we were visiting an exhibit what time they close, and they said depends on business if its slow we close at 9P! I’m thinking that’s kind of early on Saturday Night! Something is wrong here. Anywho, now I know why…

The Unilocal reviews led us here for dinner. We wished they hadn’t !! First the good. The inside is nice. The menu seemed broad. The only good food item was the goat cheese salad. But that’s where the good ends. The bad, lets start with the service, which was sporadic, inconsistent and just plain bad. All meals came out 5 – 10 minutes apart so the entire family dined separately. Asked for med-rare got well-done. The French onion soup is NOT a traditional French onion. One think cooking all that beef you would put some of that good beef stock in your soup but nope. Prices are high but that’s the norm in this area. We would not recommend the Beef Baron given the other food choices in the area. This Unilocaler does not recommend! Update: the family tribe has spoken and agree its not 2 stars but 1

My husband was excited to dine here as he had been about 15 years prior and the food was great. We got there right at 9 pm on a Wednesday evening which was closing time but the maître sat us right down and brought us menus and crayons for the kids. He was very friendly and nice. That was the end of the nice things I can say about Beef Baron. We sat for 30 mins waiting for anyone to come by and say anything to us. Shortly after being seated, a young lady did come by and give us forks as our table only had knives. I tried to make eye contact with the two servers who seemed to be working our section but neither looked in our direction ATALL. After patiently waiting 30 minutes with two small children(5&8) we got up to leave to find 5 –6 of the employees chit chatting, drinking and eating at the bar!!! I said«Thanks for ignoring us» One girl who was serving in our section replied«I asked several people if they were helping you.» My husband said«Did anyone say Yes?» Do not go near closing — THEYWILLIGNOREYOU and then make you think it’s your fault! No apology — although the maître did follow us out to say that sometimes the waitresses have issues!

Stopped in for dinner during our vacation(had a coupon for a free appetizer up to $ 8.99 with two entrees purchase). Décor is very nice, wood paneling on the walls. Good food — calamari were lightly breaded, escargot was well done. French onion soup was good, except the fact that it was not made on the real beef broth(I’m sure in a steakhouse there are plenty of beef leftovers), you could taste the bullion cube specific set of spices. Entrees were very large, huge slab of baby back ribs, lots of meat, done very well. Good and friendly service. Definitely recommended.

I cannot comment on the food, as we walked out. We remembered eating there many years ago, and decided to go back. Walked in at around 7pm and there was no one in the front room. Walked into the side dining room, and saw about 2 tables with people sitting there. Never saw a waiter, greeter, or any other employee. The next day the local paper had an add for just about every position(greeters, waiters, etc).

After leaving 3 other restaurants in Niagara Falls we ended up here, at the Beef Baron which we only knew about from being in the 2010 Entertainment book with a coupon for up to $ 14.00 dollars off your bill. The coupon brought us in and I’m glad it did because we enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The restaurant is a bit off the strip which is a good and bad thing, I liked that the area wasn’t crazy with people all over the place but as many times as I have come to Niagara I have never noticed this place. Right when we walked in the door, we were greeted with friendly people who were happy to see us. It was late and the restaurant was quiet. I started with a French onion soup, it was hot and had lots of cheese! I also loved the big basket of bread the waiter brought for the table, it was fresh! I ordered the special which was a 7oz top strip loin and I got it with a baked potato but I found it strange how it never came with a side of vegetables like every other entrée… Just a steak and a potato but I was fine with that and it was a bit late to be eating such a big meal anyway. The steak was excellent, the meat was delicious. I’m glad we ended up here and I’m glad we had the coupon or I would never know there is a nice restaurant waiting to be found. The hubby got the veal parmigiana, he always needs to try the veal in every restaurant. The veal tasted a bit strange, from the breading but the meat was good.
