We stopped by for drink and snack. It was nice quiet place. We had chocolate chip cookies to go and couldn’t believe how good they are as we started eating them in the car. I didn’t try their food but if you like cookies, make sure to try them.

If you are thinking of having your wedding at this venue DON’T DOIT! The staff and owners are absolutely awful and are not at all concerned about your big day. I had several emails to the venue that were not even answered. Not the kind of service you want when planning your wedding. Be forewarned.

Ambience: 4⁄5 Food: 3.5/5…nothing fabulous, but relatively tasty in comparison to many of the establishments on the NOTL strip. Service: 4⁄5(Friendly) Value: 4⁄5 Repeat: Already have. Great little spot to have a quick bite, graze on the samples :) and pick up a few sauces/jams etc.

LUNCHBREAK! Our winery tour stopped here for lunch. The property is beautiful with a pond and many shady trees and benches. There is also seating inside the rustic looking shop/restaurant. The best part was the free samples of different jams, sauces, salsas, dips, etc. I had a chicken, peach & arugula salad. Salads and sandwiches are $ 10. My salad was good, but not $ 10 good. The ingredients are fresh, but those were the only three things in my salad aside from dressing. I do not like my salad doused in dressing, but I found myself eating a LOT of dry arugula. The portions were small as well. For $ 10, I expected a LOT more salad with more(or better) ingredients. Since it was part of our wine tour, we didn’t have a choice where to have lunch, so I was a little peeved that *every* entrée option was $ 10 and did not include anything but the entrée.

I really enjoyed my visits at Kurtz Orchards on Queen’s Street and was really looking forward in visiting this location, but I was left a little disappointed. The set up for sure less commercial and more rustic with a nice scenery. But the interior was a messed as no staff was around cleaning or helping customers. Maybe I was here 30 minute before closing? I just have no desire to look around and taste anything… I probably will just stay with shopping at their other location!

Super cute little shop packed full of wonderful jams and bread-toppings. It was a fantastic opportunity to taste the items before buying! There were a number of items I thought about buying put the prices were way outside of my budget. Still, I’m glad that Jennifer K and Wayne C brought me here for the experience.

What a HUGE disappointment this dirty, under stocked, high-school– student-employing, waste-of-gorgeous-real estate, deli-luncheon-meat-serving, poor-excuse– of-a-wine-country-market this place is! Unfortunately, our concierge in Niagara on the Lake suggested we stop at Kurtz to pick up a picnic lunch to go. Kurtz occupies a lovely piece of real estate on the main road, across the street from the Niagara River, with a picturesque creek with obligatory bridge, picnic tables, perfect, right? Well, we go in to find some cheeses, breads, crackers, salads, and sandwiches. Sorry, empty shelves without apology or explanation. A few pieces of cheese in shrink wrap. No breads – the kid said they ran out. No crackers. The kid said they ran out of crackers too. I’m not sure how Kurtz sells any cheese without crackers and bread. It puzzles me. Basically, they had a great assortment of mustards and jellies in little jars and several day-old cookies and baked goods in a refrigerated case at the back of the store where you’re supposed to order deli sandwiches. We ordered our sandwiches(turkey and smoked meat) and salads to go at the deli counter. After an unreasonably long wait, the kid brings out our order on styrofoam plates. When we mentioned we need the order TOGO, the kid goes cross-eyed like he had never heard of people taking sandwiches and salads to go – in the middle of wine country. He said they don’t really have any to go containers, so he found a couple of pie boxes for us. The sandwiches had two slices of luncheon meat, deli-style meat(think Oscar Meyer, but worse) on hard panini-style stale bread. One paper-thin slice of cheese, no lettuce. Yuk! We ended up at a picnic table out back facing the creek. The back of Kurtz is covered in cob webs hanging off the building soffit – filthy, with junk strewn around the back of the property and a huge power generator running so loudly that we could hardly hear each other. Basically, this establishment is what I would expect to find if my 17 year old son was in charge. Since there was nobody working there older than 17, and certainly nobody running the show, our experience is none too surprising. Essentially, we figured out that Kurtz is just one of those businesses that exploits a wonderful location by praying on innocent passers by. They can serve warmed over pooh and people will still mosey in because of its charming exterior. I really gave our concierge a piece of my mind. There are tons of wonderful places we could have had lunch in this Mecca of food and wine, and we just happened upon this crummy place. So disappointed.

I absolutely love Kurtz Orchards! My husband and I stopped here for lunch as we were driving through Niagara-on-the-Lake. We ordered a freshly-made sandwich and ate inside, overlooking a Koi fish pond and an interesting foot bridge. The tasty sandwich was accompanied by fresh-cut vegetables with a fantastic dressing called Orange Maple Garlic, one of the Kurtz culinary creations. Besides the sandwich, we sampled all of the different spreads, jams, dressings, and gourmet foods in the store. We also got a bag of their home-made jelly fruits, which were delicious. We had so much fun. If you are driving by, be sure to stop!

Kurtz Orchards is brilliant! The property is just beautiful with an adorable pond filled of giant fish with a wood covered bridge over the top of it. I could have hung out on the bridge for an hour looking at the fish. Inside their market, they offer an array of gourmet, local foods like jams, dips, sauces and breads. Not to mention tastes of a million different things! They seriously have more samples than I’ve seen in a shop for quite some time. The samples are smart marketing because it’s hard to decide on what to buy after tasting a million great tasting items. On top of the gourmet items, they offer a lot of fresh fruit which looked sooooo good. Inside the Marketplace, you can purchase sandwiches as well as many other items. The sandwiches are delicious! We had a ham and swiss sandwich with vegetables, yum! Kurtz is such a cute lunch spot and so relaxing away from the hustle and bustle of all the tourist attractions in the city. I would absolutely go again and recommend others to go, as well.

+ large variety of spreads and gourmet food, + delicious sandwiches, +scenic setting When driving Niagara Parkway or biking along Niagara Parkway Recreational Trail stop at Kurtz’ Country Store for a snack. During summer they offer delicious peaches and cherries from their orchards and all year round they sell tasty sandwiches. Those you can enjoy on their picnic grounds or covered patio before you continue your ride or drive. Besides, they have you try different spreads, jams, dressings, and gourmet foods in the store and as long as no tourist bus is around the friendly staff has time to explain the items in detail. + large variety of spreads and gourmet food, + delicious sandwiches + scenic setting

We had a family reunion in Niagara-on-the-Lake and arranged a bus trip for 20 people to Niagara Falls(with the excellent NiAgara Classic Transport) and arranged to pick up box lunches on the way to the Falls. After enjoying a couple of the attractions, our bus driver picked us up and took us to Dufferin Islands Park where we enjoyed our picnic lunch in a serene atmosphere. We had chosen and ordered the lunches in advance and all were delicious: huge, generous sandwiches with super fresh ingredients, delicious breads, fresh veggies with dip, fresh peaches and outrageous fresh home baked cookies. Bottles of water included and all for $ 12 each. Excellent value for the money and clearly better than scrambling in line with all the tourists at the venues at the Falls. A great find.

Read this as a 1 star review for getting all my all earned money. Everything was absolutely delicious and I couldn’t get my girlfriend to leave. Please export your stuff to central PA(that pear pasta sauce was out of this world).

I make it a point to visit this quaint and charming store whenever I go to Niagara Falls. I love everything about this place. I love their variety of cheeses, crackers, sweets, juices — everything you need to have a picnic on the benches outside. I love their fruits & sandwiches, their hospitality, their beautiful garden, and their prices for Canadiana which other gifts shops overcharge up the wazoo at the Falls. The Niagara Falls itself are beautiful but the area surrounding is gaudy. They have casinos, tacky wax museums, and overpriced restaurants with disgusting food. I’m from LA so I’ve been to Las Vegas many times, and Las Vegas this is not. If you ever visit the Falls, I would recommend avoiding the garish and glitzy Falls area, and instead find peace at this wonderful Niagara-on-the-Lake store. ***Update*** I am so incredibly heartbroken to find out last week that the sweet little old lady running this place, Mrs. Kurtz, has passed this March. I walked in last week and saw her smiling picture and was completely crushed. My deepest condolences to her family. I sincerely hope that they will continue her amazing legacy in this wonderful little market. P. S. Please bring back the homemade Turkish delights and apple cider!
