I love their beef yorkies. It’s Yorkshire pudding stuffed with beef slices and soaked in brown gravy. If you like your food soggy and salty, this is it. Comforting, fat and delish. Then there is the butter chicken version too. I’m not sure if my heart can take it but I’ll test it one of these days. Chicken wings… They’re normal but cheap at 7 during happy hour. Why is happy hour so short?! Drinks are cheap but blah… Haven’t tried the Caesar, which I hear is amazing. Toby’s is my happy local, def show up here when you’re in the area.

Waitresses very friendly and courteous. Guinness was fresh off the tap. Ordered the Guinness Stew(Yorkshire Pudding) and it was QUITE disappointing. The portion was tiny, the stewed meat was over cooked. The mashed potatoes were the best part of this tiny meal… for $ 16! I recommend Queen’s Cross for a proper, decent size Yorkshire Pudding.

Average food and drink at above average prices. Family friendly as this is more of a restaurant location. I am guessing that this Toby’s benefits from the total lack of any decent competition in the area. The fast food joints make it better by comparison.

After waiting 25 min I asked why we could not sit at the counter… very un attentive host ‘oh you should have said so! «. Another 10 min at counter a very rede server came along for drinks order. I asked how long for food…“at least 45 min we full you know» Thanks but Toby’s you not worth 70 min of my time and I don’t need attitude when asking how long for food!

Enjoyed a breakfast here, ordered a crab egg Benny, was a tad expensive but still manageable. The portions are large and the food is quite good. The hash browns are absolutely delicious! Would come again.

This is a great pub… ish restaurant. I’d give the food at 3 star but the service definitely elevated the experience to 4. My experience is solely related to Sunday brunch. We had some friends in from out of town and were looking for a place on the North Shore that took a reservation. With two kids in the party, we didn’t want to have to wait anywhere for too long. Fortunately, Toby’s takes reservations — done! We arrived and were promptly seated, the staff had already set up a high chair at the table as I had informed them of a baby in the group, nice touch. We were greeted immediately by our waiter who brought out waters for everybody and took drink orders. The food order came next, and was very prompt. The menu is sufficiently sizable that everybody was able to find something that they liked. The food was good, and reasonably priced, absolutely no complaint. It’s not a foodie type of place and it doesn’t pretend to be. No pretentiousness here. The food came out quickly and we were done eating within an hour of arriving, which was great as the kids were getting restless. The place is definitely family friendly, and I’m sure that we’ll be back. Not sure if if I’d ever make the jaunt over for evening drinks, as we live on the other side of North Van and Lonsdale is much closer. The restaurant is big and accommodates larges groups very well. A nice addition to the North Shore scene.

After a disappointing experience at another establishment we came here to Toby’s with high hopes. And they were met within moments of walking in the door. We were sat promptly and the serving staff was very welcoming and prompt at taking our drink order. The potato & leek soup was absolutely delicious. We ended up staying for a few hours having drinks and talking. I loved the experience here and ended up coming back the next day.

After golfing at Northlands we headed into North Van to grab a bite. We ended up at Toby’ North Van. I would classify this place as a bar/sports bar. Not really my type of joint… I ordered their lunch special. Tesoro soup with a Philly sandwich. I hate to start complaining right a way but I had a fountain pop with my lunch and it was terrible! Fountain pops are not good at the best of times but this one was so weak it was undrinkable! Very light on the carbonation. Weak flavour. Guess they didn’t use enough syrup in the drink. The soup was ok. Tasty and pretty good. The sandwich I didn’t enjoy! The meat, I guess it was supposed to be steak, was tough and had a lot of pieces that were simply not consumable. I hate biting into something and than realizing you can’t eat it cuz it’s too tough to bite through. I don’t want to bitch about this place. I liked our waitress. She was friendly and fun. We received great service from her, but the food left much to be desired. The other point I’ll make is this place is really… in essences a bar. They serve drinks; meals and food are an after thought… That’s what this meal tasted like… An after thought… I won’t be coming to Toby’s North Van again for lunch. There are just too many great places out there to settle for this place.

Had breakfast there this morning, was excellent. Had gluten free pancakes which were delicious. Dining partner had the Spanish omelette which was also fantastic. Would definitely come back here again. Good service.

On Fridays at my work we go out for lunch, and this place has become a regular spot. They do weekday breakfasts til 2! Fast lunch service on weekdays and good coffee. I did have a bad chicken strips and fries that I couldn’t even eat half of, but burgers breakfasts and the bangers and mash and good!

Really enjoy the breakfast here. Lots of good options. Haven’t been here for lunch or dinner so can’t comment but breakfast is superb. Eggs are free range(organic too I think but can’t recall), sausage crisp on outside and tasty juicy inside. Good bacon and ham as well. Generous portions and good coffee! The pancakes are lovely. Service has always been great. The place is clean and the ambiance is light and welcoming. And there is always parking(free).

I never write reviews but I just have to for this place. The food arrived after 20 mins. I complained about the burger having too much pepper. The waitress very politely asked if I want something else. The second burger had a burnt patty. Almost a spit in the face. She didn’t even ask how is it. Never going back there. I didn’t complaint again but if she asked I would tell her how bad was the experience. Don’t waste your time and money there.

Went to this place on Sunday for breakfast and too watch some football with my friend. Asked for a place where we could see the TVs and we were out against a wall so only one of us could see, but we moved so not a big deal. Just weird. Heard great things about breakfast here, so I ordered the Irishman. Really really average breakfast food. Nothing bad about it but nothing spectacular. Hashbrowns looked like they were mccains and were lukewarm. I would much rather go to 80s for less $$ or tomahawk and pay the same. Friend ordered Rye bread and got something completely different. When we asked we were told it was definitely rye… Eh once again not a big deal but it was definitely not rye. I would probably never go here again, but I might try something other than breakfast. Service could definitely be better, but it wasn’t terrible. For a place that gets good press on its breakfast I was disappointed, but maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. Once again, not a bad breakfast but not great

Chalk me up to another resident of North Vancouver that has for some time now driven past this establishment and kept saying, «I should go there some day!» The interior is nice enough, your typical«pub» type setting although nothing spectacular. We were promptly seated and ordered fairly quickly. The best thing I guess that I can say about the food is that it was«decent»? Not bad but certainly not great either. It took some time to get the bill once we were done and overall given the menu along with the prices I may be sticking to a few establishment’s closer to home.

I was excited to see a new pub but see my email to the owner. Hi owner, My wife and I just got back from your pub. Décor was great and servers still seemed new but I can understand that as you are still new. But the food was ok at best. My wife had the club sandwich and I had the Ruben. As soon as we got the food there was no «wow that looks good» It just looked Ok. The bread on my Ruben was like about an 1/8″ thick after it was squashed to cut it. It taste good but where was the sauerkraut? Are you really cheaping out on bread and sauerkraut? I talked to the waitress and asked her if the fries were frozen. She said she wasn’t sure but people loved them. They were greasy and mushy, I’m 99% sure they were frozen. Is it really too hard and expensive to buy these things called potatoes and cut them up? I never heard back from her about the food and fries and it seemed the manager was too busy at the bar having a beer, texting and talking to the waitresses to care. I’m local, own a local business and like to support local businesses. I will keep an ea

I was always seeing the banner outside the building stating that Toby’s was now open and was serving breakfast as I drove past… and on Friday we decided to check it out via take out. I called and got a very pleasant and accommodating server answering the phone who took our phone order. She explained all the options and told me it would be available pretty quickly. I arrived about 15 — 20 minutes after I placed the call and was greeted by 2 servers. Inside it was really nice, busy, and looked like a place I’d like to come back and dine in. They had our food ready and packaged. Very quick and easy service. I loved the saying on the wall«An irishman walked into a bar…». I almost wanted to take a picture of it. The bar looked fantastic. I got the Egg white omelette and it was pretty much the best omelette I have had in a long time. SOGOOD! So much flavour. Between the feta and the sundried tomatoes — I’m not sure what gave it it’s kick but I was RAVING about how yummy it was. My partner got the B.E.L.T.C on rye(a breakfast sandwich) and it was tasty too. We both got a selection of fresh fruit(that looked like it may have actually been cut in store, rather than being in a bucket delivered) with fresh strawberries, etc. I was very impressed and was so glad that we chose that place, as I will def be back again.

I was excited to see what *finally* opened up in the space vacated by my beloved Kelsey’s several years ago. I think I might have been to the Commercial Dr. location of Toby’s before, but it was for a charity event with a fixed menu, so I was totally open to this as a first experience. Actually, we tried to go here the night before, but when we walked in we were told that the only places they had available were at the bar. Since the boyfriend and I were there for a nice, quiet dinner just-the-two-of-us, that wasn’t going to cut it so we ended up going elsewhere. We did try again a few nights later and got seated at this weird booth/high table combo at the back of the room. Service was spotty and neglectful. The butter chicken yorkshires were the best thing we ate. The Irish lamb stew was watery and grey. The colcannon(which I was so excited to try) was dry, flavourless and less than an ice cream scoop’s worth for the $ 1.95 up-charge? No thanks! I was really hoping Toby’s would be a new pub alternative on the North Shore, but from it’s uncomfortable seating to the poor service and then topped up with overpriced & unremarkable food? I’ll go back to the Pemberton Station Pub anytime.

Knowing a new pub /restaurant was opening in the area and opportunistically hungry, it was time to try Toby’s. We had to wait a few minutes, it being the tail end of the lunch rush. So I’d a good chance to look around. Centre bar, with snug off to the right, raised daïs to the rear and side, padded bench seat against the wall, stained wooden floors and walls. The décor carries the Irish theme forward with classic advertising for Oxo, Guinness and the like. Once seated, I had a good peek at the menu. A good selection of beers on offer. Pleasantly, a quality selection of single malts and Irish whisky’s as well as other spirits for those who have no appreciation for the waters of life. The food menu continues the Irish theme. Bangers and Mash(Colcannon), Irish stew, Guinness pit pie. My companion ordered the Rueben, it came well stuffed with meat and judged very good. I ordered the Guinness burger. A large hand made beef and lamb patty, cheddar, Guinness cheddar and Guinness grainy mustard(you can never have enough Guinness!) on a brioche bun. It arrived well cooked, smelling delicious. Both meals came with choice of fries, salad. I’m the type that there’s never enough fries for. So in my eye there could have been a wee bit more fries, my companion said there were plenty. To close both meals were great. The staff friendly, great place and a good menu. My next visit will present a problem: another Guinness burger or do I try the Bangers and Mash?

Came here for a birthday celebration and was pleasantly surprised. Decent pub food and average priced alcoholic drinks. Service was good. Server checked up on us regularly to clear plates and refill water and so did the? Manager to make sure things were alright. Ambiance is a pub atmosphere. A bar section and lots of TV. Saw some families with kids there so the food is reasonably priced to bring the kids along.

I was pleasantly surprised with Toby’s! I had very low expectations when I walked in, the only reason we ended up there was Because White Spot was closed for a staff party. I expected it to look kind of like a lame family restaurant, but it was actually pretty cool! It had a decent pub atmosphere and the food was pretty good. We weren’t drinking so I don’t know what the beer selection is like. But I would definitely go back! The only problem was the clientele, I’m from North Vancouver and the culture here is boooooring! No one at that pub looked like they were having fun, no one seemed to be enjoying themselves. But I blame that on the North Shore culture, not this place. Toby’s was awesome!
