Yuko Maki is the place we love to laugh about, but we still go back all the time. The food is cheap, nice, but the décor is oh so eighties, and we have bets on who is going to get served last. If you can deal with the style and service, it’s a great meal for a good price. If you are looking for classy … this is NOT it.

If you want to invite friends or family to a fancy place, this isn’t it. If you want authentic Japanese food, this isn’t it either. However, if you are looking for a cheap, decent meal, then I recommend this place, especially their«sushi specials». For $ 7 or $ 10(rounded up), you can pick three different menu items on the list such as sashimi, nigiri, an assortment of rolls and so on. The service is horrible on a busy day, ok on a slow day. I would recommend take-out if you can, that way it’s ready in 15 – 20 min and there’s no waiting forever to get refills or your food.

Never going back. Horrible service. No tea refills without asking, frozen sashimi. Negitoro maki was rancid and they refused to refund the item only make a new roll. They ended up calling the police over $ 3 refund. Wasting time and our tax dollars super upsetting. Stomach not feeling too good right now.

The sushi Combos are pretty tasty, SUPER cheap and its prepared quickly. also their sizes for beer/wine are large for a regular price. Id stick to the beer though.

This place is very cheap, I’ll give them that much, but has insanely horrible service. The food is nothing to rave about and the staff are border-line rude, they are such bad servers. Never gone back and never will.

Cheap sushi combos. This is by far the cheapest place I have eaten in the Lower Mainland. Quality of the food is okay. The rolls are not necessary the nicest at times and sometimes are poorly made. The spring roll that some of the combos have is dripping oil and soggy. The seafood is fresh so I have never had stomach problems afterwards. Service is borderline poor or very bad at times. When the restaurant is packed with seated customers, people waiting for a table and people waiting for take out orders, you cannot flag staff to refill tea or take your orders as there are not enough staff on the floor to deal with the chaos. Sometimes asking for the bill takes longer than the food to arrive. However, it is the cheap prices that keep me coming back when I want to be satiated without hurting my wallet too much :)

Please do not support this restaurant. They have shark fin soup on the menu.

So, this is really just your run of the mill sushi place with AYCE sushi quality. Probably actually only worth two stars for food quality, but you can’t beat this place for price and efficiency in the area. I never hesitate to order my $ 6.29 sushi combo, which allows you to choose 3 things from a pretty decent list, plus miso soup. I usually get a chopped scallop cone, avocado roll and either tuna maki or california roll. Again, I really emphasize that it’s AYCE quality, let’s not have unrealistic expectations here…

Going to give 5 stars because I know what to expect. Authentic Japanese experience? Nope. Top quality cuisine? Nope. Excellent lunch or dinner served using fresh ingredients by a friendly staff? YES! Unbeatable prices? YES. Fast service and food preparation? YES. In a nutshell, great food, great prices, great service if you’re looking for a hearty lunch or dinner fast. Pro tip: we bring our own Tupperware for take-out to reduce the garbage.

Went in quickly for some take out, very reasonable prices, kind person who took the order. Ordered the kappa roll and california roll and both were good.

I think this place is definitely a decent place to go to. The food there is relatively tasty and definitely better than some sushi joints around the neighborhood. Their sushi was relatively fresh, and their other food’s quality was good. Also their prices were fair. But out of all of the sushi places with similar prices, I would say this place is definitely not one of my most favorite place to go to in the entire neighborhood for a good Japanese experience. Bottom line is, I definitely would come back to their place on a special occasion.
