bought Inspiron laptop (first Dell product I ever purchased) July 2015 for wife. Hinge broke 5÷30÷2016. Unit still under warranty, but not the hinge. Turns out, lots of people have issues with Dell laptop hinges. No mater how carefully or gently they are used.
I have a $ 4,000 line of credit with Dell, so they must have thought highly of me when I bought first computer. They want me to ship it to them and have already charged my account $ 159 with for service when I have not even shipped computer yet. Price may rise if they determine laptop needs more parts.
The customer service and the chat is the worst. Chat rep got snarky with me and then told me he cannot help me. If they do not make this right, I will never buy another Dell anything. Their product is sub-​standard.

I bought a Dell Inspirion 15 5000 series laptop and after 2 weeks the motherboard failed. They promptly sent me another laptop and after 35 days, this one has failed too! They will not issue me a refund and I am out $ 467! Three months, 2 laptop failures for motherboard issues. Bad customer service a bad product!

I bought a Dell computer in May of 2015. I used my computer to DJ. I was having some audio problems so I called India to see about the audio settings. They could not help me. They knew nothing. They also said my computer was out of warantee since I bought it in 2014. Not true. My receipt from Staples says I bought it in May of 2015. I have a receipt but they didn’t even seem to care. Then shortly after my call I started getting calls from «Dell». It really wasn’t Dell… it was scam calls wanting to help me fix my computer because it was being attack by several different viruses. Kind of hard to believe since I don’t go online with my computer. I called and complained. They said it wasn’t their fault that there were scammers out there from all the computer companies. Yeah right. These people have all of my personal info. Sounds like an inside job to me. Not only that but they referred me to some agency to complain and they refused to help fix the date I bought the computer. I will never buy another Dell. Next time I will buy an Apple. At least Apple doesn’t send you to India.
Now I’m dealing with one or two calls per day from India wanting to «fix» my so called infected computer. Stay away from anything Dell.

Problems: Hardware failure. Refund delay. Overseas customer service.
Details:
In 2015 I ordered an Inspiron 3847 desktop computer. The unit failed during initial boot-​up and it had to be returned. Their customer service put me in contact with the ‘returns’ department and the computer was picked up and returned the next day. At the time, I was told that my money would be refunded in about 10 days. However, two months and two phone calls later, the money had still not been returned. The people in their customer service department overseas were next to useless and told me, at one point, that they were «having problems».
I ended up ordering a higher end computer and it was fine. However, it seems that when you have a problem, it is next to impossible to go right to the source to get the issue resolved quickly and efficiently.

This company’s attitude is «we got your money now you’re on your own.» I was stupid enough to buy two desktops and a tablet from Dell. It took me a full year to get the desktops to network, and they did not care. I may not be the brightest computer user, but I do have two college degrees, one of which in in computer science. The tablet won’t turn on or take a charge and I replaced the charger with no help. They won’t even sell me a replacement battery, if I had been dumb enough to spend more money with this scumbag company.

I do not know how this company can survive repeatedly giving THE WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE OVER AND OVER.
Try calling customer service, you will wait on hold for HOURS.
Try accessing their online chat, you will never wait less than and HOUR or TWO!
The Twitter account consistently responds within 24 hours, telling you to call numbers you have already tried!
They will cancel your order before delivery for no reason and not tell you. Want an invoice? Better have your customer #… BUT THEY NEVER EMAIL IT TO YOU OR TELL IT TO YOU???
How in the hell is this place still able to make a damn sale?

I purchase a Dell Insparion 5000 series for a xmas gift on Cyber Monday 2015 and received email stating that delivery is Dec 14. By surprise when I went to look at the status as today I am expecting the laptop, order shows cancel.
I contacted
by both online chat and phone and spoke with Jas and Vishal and they both said «sorry» nothing we can do???
Yes, I didn’t get charge for the product but where is the customer SERVICE here. It’s like there is no professional service anymore in the world. I guess for some people who will read this they will just say «eh» just go somewhere else and buy one. Talk about companies not wanting your money anymore. no one cares to provide service. I’ll just keep shopping in the USA as I have always been doing… I tried to give Canada my money…

If I could give less than 1 star I would. The product is ok. God forbid you have an issue. Dell’s Customer service is the worst that I have ever experiences. I had to call 3 times. First time 47 minute wait, 2^nd time 57 minutes, and 3^rd time 1 hour and 47 minutes. Clearly they do not care about repeat Business. I have a small business and preferred to have one vendor for all our technology needs. Over the years I have spent about 50K. My dollars are going to another vendor. Looking at the other reviews, clearly it is a company wide issue. No wonder why Micheal Dell took the company private. This is a terribly run business and wont be around if they continue to treat their customer soo poorly. I have had good results with New Egg.

OMG — Talk about lack of customer service. It has been 48 days and counting since I started my service ticket on my laptop. I keep being told their technician has tried calling my but I have no messages and no missed calls. Dell is a bunch of cheaters, liars and thieves. They sell you a piece of crap computer with a service agreement but when it comes to getting any kinds of repairs, they don’t help you. I have been asking to have a manager call me for the last 30 days and still have not had a phone call. It makes you wonder how they stay in business with all these bad reviews.
It also funny how everyone there uses the same email address and you email with multiple people on that email but no one ever takes care of the situation.

Wow surprised at all the bad reviews. I got my 1 terabyte 15 inch Dell Inspiron in 2012, and never given me one problem: the thing works great. Bought it at Best Buy as a factory floor model, and offered insurnce for a few bucks extra, so if anything breaks you just take it in and they fix it. That’s the smart thing to do anyway.

I’ve tried countless times to return a defective laptop, only to get bounced around customer service and spend hours on hold. 15 days trying to return a laptop and no luck. How is this legal? I literally have no options to return it ! It’s not like there is a store! I now will NEVER buy a Dell product. I’m going to try a complain with BBB.

Terrible customer service. The people on the online chat are useless other than selling you stuff. And if you want to make an exchange you have to call in to customer service. Tried calling 3 days in a row waited on hold for an hour only for them to hang on me to tell me their closed (at 9pm eastern time which is 6pm my time). I refuse to call before 5pm because ive already wasted 2 thirds of my day time minutes on my cell phone only to not get through to these asshats.
This has gotta be by far the worst hold times i’ve ever experienced. At least if im going to wait on hold for an hour don’t hang up on me to tell me your closed!!! Completely unacceptable.

OK — this is about the customer service. I am fairly satisfied with the computer (it is very touchy but it works) but I also got a Venue tablet. It worked for about 3 months then stopped. After troubleshooting with the tech department, we determined that it needed to be sent back. They sent a Fed Ex box with specific instructions on how to return it.
The instructions said, BOLD AND UNDERLINED, to get a signed receipt from the Fed Ex driver. Fed Ex drivers do not do that!!! After a go ’round with the driver, I finally handed it off and called Fed Ex who said that Dell was quite mistaken so call them.
And I did… first returns who said to call customer service. After a 10 minute wait I explained the issue to customer service.
Dell’s response? They HUNG UP ON ME!!!

Purchased a Dell Latitude E6430U laptop that Dell said had an i7 processor with 3.2 GHz speed. Laptop arrived and it really has a 2.0 GHz speed according the the computer. I call and am told that the 3.2 is the fastest it can go. Has anyone ever seen a manufacture put the fastest speeds you can overclock (and risk burning out the CPU) as the specs? I’m not surprised by all the bad reviews for Dell. Buying a new computer or electronics for most people is a huge capital investment and their is nothing more frustrating when you have laid out all that money and the company simply doesn’t care. Dell is fine until something changes or goes wrong. Once they have your money, they simply don’t care. Dells product is price driven, quality comes a distant second and not customer service driven at all. I spent countless hours and days on hold being deliberately passed around with no intention of helping me. It wasn’t until I threatened legal action in writing that I finally got a results. By this point I refused service and demanded a refund as I felt they had no idea how to build customer confidence with service. They don’t care about you or your next purchase, they don’t think that far ahead. I bought my last dell a few years ago and it is clear by the comments here nothing has changed. My last couple of purchases have been lenovo brand (formally IBM), they got the customer service and quality nailed well.

I bought 50 plasma tv and a fax machine from Dell and they both are defective and they fixed my tv but still defective and now warranty expires. I spent at least 80 hours spoke to 20 different times with the company and I am still stuck with the defective fax machine which I can’t use. Company like Dell should be closed and it’s shame that they still in business to cheat people hard working money by giving them the defective products. Wonder how they even got credited by better business bureau? By bribing? We should boycott the company!!!

So bought a computer from Dell a few months back. When I got the computer I was not in town and they refused to let anyone else pick it up that was not living at the address. I advised them that I will not be back in time and the laptop will get sent back to them. They said that they will send me another laptop if that happens. I tried to work them and see if I could get my mother to pick it up. They again said no it has to be someone living at my address and at the time I lived alone. So I told them that if the laptop gets sent back they can keep it and I will take my business elsewhere.
I finally get the laptop when I return and i start getting customer service calls about how the service was. I told them the service was terrible and I would never do business with Dell every again. So they wanted to give me a $ 50 gift card for a nother Dell product which i quickly declined because that means I would own another Dell product. So they added it to the balance of my account for a laptop. That was like taking 50 cents off the price becuase the laptop was well over $ 1300 anyways they called me for 3 weeks trying to convince me they had great service until the day they got my voicemail and I called back and got some rude person on the phone that hung up on me. Needless to say, I called back and spoke to them again and told them to cease all communication with me.
A few months later the power cable was not working on the laptop so I called them to exercise my warrenty in which they wanted me to ship them my entire laptop. After arguing for more than an hour they finally agreed to send me the power cable.
Like I mentioned before, I will never do business with Dell again. For bad customer service and stupid policies they are right up there with Rogers.

I have to start by saying Dell does make a pretty good computer. That is where it ends, they do not give you all the CD-​Roms you will need if you have to reboot everything. There is no costumer support, if you contact them with a problem they will tell you that you need to take your computer to a certified technician and you will have to buy the programs that your computer came with. You do not get any software licenses that you have purchased, you will continually receive reports that you need to update Microsoft software, like all computers, but with Dell you will be told that you do not have licenses on the software to update.
I purchased extra programs for my computer, but I had to take it to a technician within the first week to have these programs unlocked. They were not accessible until they were unlocked by a professional. I phoned Dell and was told that it was my computer now and if I wanted it to work as ordered and paid for then I would have to pay someone else to figure out how to unlock them. I am not computer illiterate, but I am not as good as most, my son-​in-​law looked over the report and said he could have unlocked some of these programs, but not all without receiving technical support. I have talked to people from three different computer repair shops and they all say the same thing, if a Dell Computer has a hardware problem, it is cheaper to buy a new one then to fix all the problems that the factory has done wrong in the first place.
Do not walk away from Dell, Run from this poorly run company.

Bought a Dell Studio 15 a couple months ago. Works fine, fast enough for me (not a power user), nice monitor, could use another USB port. Wish I could get a docking station for it. The reason for the two star rating is for their atrocious customer service — its hard for me to give one star when the computer works fine (up to now, anyways).
I have my fingers crossed that I never have a problem with the actual hardware because then I will have to deal with them. I would probably go for an Apple next time, the issue with Apple though is price more than anything.
Below is a copy of an email I sent to Ellen Roseman at the Toronto Star. Ultimately I got my laptop, no thanks to Dell, and they DID try to deliver at my old address (this will make sense once you read the below, if you can get through it, haha).
I have an issue with Dell, that I’m hoping you’ll be able to help with. I placed an order for a Dell Studio 15 Laptop on/​about April 7. A couple of days later, after seeing the projected shipping date and realizing that I was going to be living in another location, called Dell to change the shipping date. Apparently, Dell can (will) not change the shipping date after or just after an order is placed. After talking to three different CSRs, the best they seem to be able to do for me is the following:
Have ME remind them (they can’t seem to make a note for themselves) once the computer has been given to the shipping company, to re-​route the shipment to the delivery company’s depot so that I can pick it up AFTER an attempt is made to the old address where presumably someone else will be living
«Too bad» was effectively the response when I suggested they could be giving a computer I paid for to somebody else.
The result I want is for them to simply change the shipping address to my current location, where I will be able to receive it.
Can you suggest something I can do or someone I might be able to contact?
