What happens when you let a group of 20 – 30 somethings loose in a little toy shop that lures you in with a $ 1600 life-sized panda in the window? To be totally honest, I can’t be sure because upon entry into Pick of the Crop, my mind was reduced to that of a childs, and the«I wanna’s» kicked into high gear. I wanna… bunch of unique childrens literature that use obscure storylines and comedy to teach life lessons(see book named«Two Dumb Ducks»), I think I was actually sitting cross legged for story time without even realizing how potentially creepy and odd that might seem. I wanna… whole room full of edu-toys, you know the kind you’d hate if you were expecting a race car or TMNT action figures, but the kind you ‘d love to bits once you parents would explain how it works I wanna… chinese finger trap that doubles as a bouncy projectile I wanna… 6ft, $ 2000 stuffed t-Rex. Not exactly to scale but totally for sale! NOSERIOUSLY… I REALLY… REALLYWANTTHIS!!! RAWR! I wanna… play with train set ups all day until I get asked to kindly leave because I challenged a 3 year old to a train race(it got heated quickly… he took a left at the water tower and beat me over the bridge to the train yard… he totally cheated). I wanna spot just like this near my home, so whenever I’m having a bad, and feeling kinda old, I can visit and reminisce about simpler times when I was a child. Child Supervision required(aka don’t be a browsing on your own — kinda creepy, no?)

During a romp around downtown Oakville, some fellow Unilocalers and I spotted a GIANT stuffed Panda in the window, and couldn’t keep away from this toy shop! From tiny stuffed bugs, to 6 foot stuffed dinos this place has it all! Board games, books(from well known Dr. Suess ones, to some more jems you may not have come across like TWODUMBDUCKS!), play sets, jewelery, etc. Great place to pop by if you’re in the area with a little one! Check out the«Fantastic Fun Table»! Be warned, some of the stuff is on the pricier side(6 foot Dino rings in at $ 2000, and the Giant Panda was an estimated $ 1600), but there’s plenty of stuff here in the normal toy price range, too. Though I don’t know if this place has deals, or specials, I didn’t see anything indicating such. It is weird that a group of 20 – 30 somethings spent a large chunk of time here? Naaaah — whether you’re 3 or 30 how can you say«no» to seeing a 6 foot dino! ;)
