The White Truffle

We were in Orangeville and we were hungry. So we wandered down the street and decided to try The White Truffle on a whim.
It was.. .okay. The waitress was very friendly and helpful, but she was definitely the best thing about our experience.
The menu was VERY limited and one of the people we were dining with was vegetarian, so he had no choice at all; there was only one thing for him to eat. Two of us ordered the shrimp pasta. It sounded delicious on the menu and it looked delicious when it came (despite the portion being small), but it was awfully bland. I had the waitress put some fresh pepper on it, but that wasn’t enough to make it taste like anything. I had to drown it in salt and pepper from the table to give it any taste at all. And it was very inconsistent. I got WAY more shrimp than the other person that ordered it and he got WAY more sauce than I did. So we ate our food, paid our bill, thanked the waitress very much.. .
But would I go back? No I would not. Would I recommend it to anyone else? No I would not. It wasn’t awful, but it wasn’t worth nearly what we paid. I paid for a tiny plate of $ 30 bland pasta and I don’t recommend that experience to anyone else.

We decided to come here for lunch after a lovely fall drive.
It is a quaint resto on the Main Street. They had a brunch fixed price 3 course menu for Thanksgiving for $ 27.95.
Ordered butternut squash soup for starter and linguine and chicken in white wine pesto sauce entrée. My dining partners ordered schnitzel and veal mains.
The bread and humus was delicious. The butternut squash soup was a bowl of creamy goodness. The pasta was perfectly al dente and a perfect blend of vegetables and sauce. The schnitzel was perfectly cooked as was the veal and was accompanied by tender crisp assortment of vegetables. Perfect pumpkin pie to finish the meal. Definitely worth a repeat visit! Service was friendly and attentive although the speed with which food was delivered was a bit slow. That is the only criticism in an otherwise great experience.

This restaurant is the best! I have never eaten a more delicious meal ever. The beef tenderloin is amazing, the crab cakes are to die for. The phyllo wrapped cheesecake is delicious. My husband loved his rack of lamb. The servers are wonderful and so down to earth. Will continue to go back. We’ve been there twice and both experiences were fantastic. Love it love it love it.

Excellent, excellent experience. Fantastic food and delightful service. (Ask for Yvan — he will charm your night away.) Had the chateaubriand for two and it was well worth calling ahead for. Freshly baked cheesecake for dessert, and this was by far the best meal my wife and I had our entire winter escape weekend at the Millcroft.
Will certainly be back again!
