Our first time at Marcel’s. Menu looks great, pricey for the locale and the ambience, but the way they play up the chef, made Marcel’s worth trying. The waiter was excellent, professional, friendly, and very helpful; but the food just doesn’t live up to the menu. Ingredients are just ok, and most of the food we had was decent, but lacked flavor and better ingredients to make it great. Would I return; I would, but not often, and not if I can get a table at some of the better places in Orillia.

Went with a large group of friends. Ignored half the time and we watched as our server became wasted. Quite noticeable. Service horrible. We where over charged(no joke) $ 500. My boss had to write down everything everyone had ordered and copy the prices from the menu and show our wasted server. Another woman came over to help. It got sorted. This business will sink if workers get drunk on the job and mess up bills that horribly. Her drinking alone will put them in the hole. The food was excellent. But the whole experience was ruined by the service. I’d like to see this business work but I fear if that keeps up it won’t.

Sad. Toronto downtown pricing but everything else service, food quality and … Friends dined here and complained about the slow service, literally non existent vegetable(but lots of fries) on steak and lamb dishes. Honestly — for entres that’s priced in the high twenties but literally sans vegetables? Decided to give it a try as its new and we have practically tried all the other DT Orillia eateries. Entres finally arrived an hour plus after ordering, and meat dish way over cooked I literally need chain saw to saw it. Orders were missed — even though they weren’t that busy. Service definitely not with a smile. Businesses fail due to lots of factors — but if by obvious self infliction is sad.
