The place is called Marble Slab because they scoop your ice cream, weigh it, then flatten it on to a frozen slab of marble(to prevent melting), ask you to choose your topping, mix it up, then the ice cream is re-scooped and placed in to your cone or cup. Any quantity of topping you choose is 1 price. It’s pretty pricey, but, if you go there often enough, you can get a stamp for each cone purchase to redeem towards a free regular cone. Comes in handy when buying for a family! You also have the option to buy ice cream by the pint, cake, ice cream sandwiches from the freezer, or have them make a shake. There is a table and chairs indoors or you can sit at the outdoor tables. Also a play area for children inside. Lookout for coupons in the mail in the Orleans area. As for the taste of the actual ice cream… It’s alright. I may have a biased opinion because I already have a childhood favourite ice cream chain that I can’t shake. I’ve tried their ice cream sandwiches and they are large! Do share! The cookie part is very hard. And freakishly, the ice cream melts very slowly… Give it a try. It may become your own fave ice cream place. I’ve constantly seen clients going in and out.

So this location has now been open for a day. Have you ever been to a Cows store? I found Marble Slab to be a lot like that: choose your super premium ice cream, choose your monster-sized cone, and choose from 20 or 30 toppings. I had the Chocolate Swiss ice cream(delicious even on its own) and added Oreo and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Fantastic! The only possible draw back is pricing. I paid over $ 6 for a small serving. Now, if you go 3 times a week, that can really amount to a lot of money. However, if you go for a treat every 3 months, it’s worthwhile and more affordable. I had never been to the Bank Street location before visiting this one in Orleans. I was pleasantly surprised.
