I am in the healthcare field, and have seen numerous cases of neglect from this place. People coming out of there with bedsores, people being kicked out of there who are so sick, only to get worse and end up back in hospital. I have heard stories of people falling out of bed trying to get to the bathroom, because when they rang the call bell, no one came. My own mom was in there and needed a central line. They put it in the wrong spot and had to start over, causing her unnecessary pain. I know of a baby who was badly burned by hot grease, went here, only to be bandaged and sent home. Turns out, his burns were so bad he was in Sick Kids for a month, yet this hospital said he was ok. This place really should be ashamed!

Oh where to start. I have kept quiet on this hospital for so long. 4 years ago my mother was misdiagnosed twice at this hospital sent home both times. Third time we called an ambulance and had no choice but to take her back here as she lived across the street. They decided to do surgery which was okay except she passed away on the operating table turns out the surgery they went in to do was not needed it was something completely different and was missed in the emergency. Fast forward to last week I myself was sent to the hospital by my doctor. What a gong show. We had to stand in the hallway as there was no where to sit. Finally got a seat after an hour. Sat another 3 hours before getting called in. Staff for the most part seem miserable. I came across a couple nice people but wow. Finally get in to be accessed and I am in the room for possibly 5 minutes. Then they move me to a chair in the hallway to wait for blood work. Then I get moved to another«waiting room» which was literally 4 chairs beside the nursing station this is where they put my iv in? Poor little kid sitting beside me looked traumatized having to watch it. I mean the nurse is crouched down putting my iv in while I dangle my arm down. Ridiculous. There is no pricacy what so ever. To give me the results of my tests they called meto the nurses station eere he told me to wait while he wasbon the phone discusiing another patients diagnosis. All while we stand there and look at someones xray. The walls are dirty the chairs are dirty. The nurses are clearly overworked. Time to get this place cleaned up Lakeridge Oshawa. Take some pride in your hospital.

We had a horrible experience at this hospital. They have 9 reviews on there site and they are all the same: Admin staff and nurses rude and unfriendly no compassion and empathy. No one smiles and everyone looks pissed off. They only seem happy when they are ordering dinner for themselves. We sat in emergency for 5 hours so we saw alot and then when we did see a doctor he diagnosed us wrong. If your a doctor how do you not know the difference between a fracture and a broken arm. We were told lucky for you it’s not broken… In FACT is was broken and my family member needs surgery and 2 pins. Thank God we got a second opinion. We are outraged with this place. If you’re ever here please get a second opinion it’s scary how no one cares or gives a shit about anyone anymore. It’s all about the money!

I completely agree with the previous review of this facility. I was on the waiting end while my spouse was having a surgical procedure. I found that they were efficient and quite informative. The patient intake was relatively smoothly albeit lots of waiting at different rooms, but that was to be expected. The nurses were very busy but when you needed help they attended to you as best they can. The waiting area had a patient tracker that gave you a good sense as to when to expect your loved one to get out of surgery. I thought this was a really great way of managing expectations of people waiting for their loved one. The staff were efficient and helpful and the layout of the hospital was bright and clear. The are not a lot of food options but I will take that over knowing that my loved one was being taken care of as best as possible.

I can’t claim to be expert on the subject of hospitals(I’ve been unbelieveably fortunate both in terms of my own health, and that of family and friends… touch wood and fingers crosssed for more of the same). But, a well-run organization dersrves praise, and this hospital(formerly known as Oshawa General for those with roots on the East side of the GTA) is exceptionally well-run. Very polite staff, efficiently organized, fairly clear and easy-to-understand layout, and a clean/bright/airy feeling to it. I certainly hope that you’ll never need to avail yourself of their services, but if you do, you’ll be well cared-for.
