My wife and I have this running quest going on — trying to find the best pizza deal in the city. We just moved here a few months ago and it is important to have your go-to pizza joint on your speed dial. So, we have hit a few places and the other night, while cruisiing around Vanier, I found Barney’s. Now, Vanier has some sketchy parts and Barney’s is on the cusp of it. I parked around the corner on Emond Street(where they have parking meters even on a side street???) and I felt I was in Dodge City. The main measuring stick I use for pizza places is their slice deal. Unfortunately, Barney’s didn’t happen to be offering slices that night. So, I had to order a whole one. It was okay pizza — average for Ottawa. The pizza reflected the neighbourhood’s lunch bucket, no-nonsense personality. You won’t find an eggplant/feta/sundried tomato pizza here, pretty boy. Hearty fare for average prices.
