Burrito Shack

I’ve been passing next to this place for years always peering through the window assuming this place wasn’t my style.
They definitively have a hipster look which I’m never crazy about however the second I got to the counter to order I was greeted with a bunch of «hey bro, how’s it going bro, no problem bro» so that eased my conscious of it being hipster. Honestly a formal «hello sir, how are you today?» would have been more than enough.
I figured what better to get than a burrito at a place called the burrito shack? So i opted for a regular whole wheat pulled pork burrito. Burritos are one of those dishes hard to mess up completely and impossible to get just right. That being said they are on the right track.
Honestly it was really good. The only thing I wasn’t crazy about it that a lot of their vegetables were kept in containers filled with the liquids from their jars. Which in turn made the bread soggy towards the end and simply led to the last bites just being mush. Id love to see some hot sauces that we could apply to individual bites with the cutlery, but thats really just an optional thing. Their meats were good but tasted like they were frozen products. I always tend to have the logic that when you go to a restaurant it’s because you want something that you couldn’t duplicate at home and getting meals from frozen products always dampens my spirit.
For the prices we payed it was awesome. I’d like to see it a lot busier but I guess the surrounding neighborhoods are all students which live on budgets.
This will be my new burrito hookup for that part of town.

Not happy. Tried to place an order tonight, at 9:02 online. Website said it would arrive roughly around 9:55. I got an email saying nothing except that my order was refused.
I called in, got a staff member, who said they recently stopped taking orders after nine pm. Website says nothing except that they are open to eleven. I was really in the mood for Mexican food, but I’m a little put off. The website even said I was only two kilometers away.

Came across this place on Unilocal and made us crave some Mexican food, so decided to give it a try. We got a Small quesadilla (chicken) and a small quesadilla (ground beef). I regret it! Should have gone with the burrito…
The quesadilla were so dry and bland. It really felt like I had to force myself to finish it. I didn’t enjoy it and I had to have a huge scoop of sour cream everytime I took a bite so that it wasn’t as dry.
The next time I’m in the area, I’ll give this place another try and have the burrito instead. I was debating between the two but made the wrong decision this time.

I went here for lunch with a coworker after reading the reviews. The food was definitely awesome! The staff seemed fairly new It was one guys first day on the job and another girl I think came from the other location and one guy definitely knew what was going on. My burrito was awesome, the guac was sooo good! For a first timer walking in it can be a little confusing trying to make your choices but I had looked at the menu before hand so I already knew what I wanted but my coworker hadn’t and the new guy served her so her experience might not have been as good as mine as the guy put ground beef on her chicken burrito, but she ate it anyways and said it was good.
We had been told to try the churros but had seen them nowhere on the menu so when we asked the guy offered to let us try one so he made us one and it was good but really doughy in the middle so we opted not to get some.
Definitely worth a visit my steak burrito (ofcourse with guac) was awesome!

Definitely have to eat-​in, very good experience. Step-​by-​step process easily walks you through ordering. I got three steak, chicken, and roasted beef corn tacos for only $ 10! (although the additional dollar for guacamole is questionable) Walking distance from Carleton, would 100% recommend.

Awsome food! but you definately need to go in to enjoy it. Delivery is pretty slow and your food wont arrive warm buuuut its still super good.

The food is good, but when it takes over an hour and a half to have something delivered 2 km away there is a problem. What’s the point of good food if it’s cold. Also they forgot the meat in my first order. So I was chomping on a tortilla, lettuce and sour cream.

Yum! I had no idea about this place, and once I read Dawn’s review, I knew I had to check it out. I opted for the quesadilla (surprise, surprise!), which was delicious, and filled with fresh, yummy toppings. I appreciated that they offer white, whole wheat and gluten free wraps. I went with chicken, sauteed veggies and lots of cheese. They offer free sour cream and salsa, but I totally advise getting the guac — it’s so worth it.
Also — these guys deliver! You can order online, which is awesome. They also sell their sauces and jarred chilies if you’re a fan.
A great spot, especially for those living around Carleton.

After spending more than 10 minutes in line for 3 tacos the cashier used her bare hands, that she had also used for cashing out numerous people in front of me, to put my tacos neatly into a take out container. She then proceed to ring me through like nothing had happened. In what world is that a good idea?

Hubby spotted an article on this place, tucked away in the middle of the neighborhood along Sunnyside in what used to be Easy Peasy Pizza.
Wandered over for lunch — very nicely done décor. Burritos, Quesadillas, Nachos and Tacos are on the menu with choice of meats and toppings.
I got the pulled beef burrito with signature sauce and an order of guacamole (a buck extra, but worth every cent).
Everything was great! Finally a burrito in Ottawa that I like. (I can stop longing for Chipotle to show up here now.)
Would I return: Yes.
Would I recommend: Yes.
