Overpriced American style garbage. Whey the hell would you eat at a place like this when there is so many other excellent and affordable restaurants close by? Indian, Lebanese, shawarma, Thai, Japanese. Hell I would rather have Subway. Don’t waste your money.

Where else can you go and have a plate of nachos and a coke for 18 dollars… ANYWHERECANADA. Place has super great servers and friendly bartenders. Gets packed during hockey games but I’m sure is a fun time. If your staying in the hotel that’s attached and its minus 30 out its not a bad option. If the weather is decent I would rather venture out and grab a shawarma for about 8 bucks at one of the many places in Ottawa!

Well the food was indeed mediocre. It was also way too overpriced for just casual food; pasta was almost 20 $$! The service was slow and there were drunk sports enthusiasts who were so loud. You can be sure there was no tip.

Went here on Canada Day hoping for some solid food at a good price. Looking in, the place wasn’t busy at all, quite rare for a sit down at this time of year and area so we went right in. We got a booth and I ordered a Strongbow which comes in a tall can. The cup it comes with is like any beer glass but filled with ice and a straw. Did I order a soft drink? Didn’t think so, but the Strongbow wasn’t that cold either so I poured about half in the cup. Mistake! Quickly, it watered the whole thing down and tasted revolting. My bad for going with the cup, but I was kind of trusting the server over here. Ok, then I order a quesedilla. Pretty basic thing to make I would say, some cheese, veggies, dipping sauces. What ends up on the table is the thinnest, palest quesedilla with just some melted cheese between the toasted tortilla. No veggies, just some sour cream and some salsa on the side. I could’ve made this myself in two minutes for about 2 dollars or less. Such a disappointment. As mentioned, it wasn’t even busy and we weren’t checked on once. Waters were low quickly and nachos went without any sour cream, guac or salsa for dipping. Yum.

I was pretty skeptical of this place but after I tried it out I was throughly impressed. All of the staff was extremely helpful, flirty and cute. A great variety of food from burgers to nachos to pizza, etc. I went on a Sunday and they were having a ½ off pizza sale. Even at half off though a personal size pizza was close to $ 10USD. If I had to give a downfall for this place I would have to say that it was on the pricy side. I had no idea who Don Cherry is and my server was more than happy to give me the insight on him and places to hang out around town. If you are staying at the Quality Inn then this is a great place to grab some food and drinks without having to face the cold outside.

Don Cherry’s is a sports bar located downtown on Rideau Street, below the Quality Hotel. Their menu consists mostly of pub fare. Their nachos are pretty good and are largely portioned, with plenty of sour cream and jalapenos. I’d suggest giving their stuffed potato skins a try. There aren’t too many of them, but they’re very tasty and are kind of like mini bite-sized stuffed potatoes. The restaurant itself has over 20 TVs, including 5 big screen TVs. There wasn’t a game on when my friends and I visited, but they gave us these little handheld machines to play along with are trivia questions on the TV. The more correct answers you have, the higher your score, and the better your chances are of winning some type of prize. This is the first place I’ve ever seen this kind of interactive, electronic game, so I give Don Cherry’s an extra point for uniqueness.

During our stay at the quality hotel we order room service from Don Cherry. There veggie enchiladas is too good!

This is an establishment that is obviously well-known because its namesake(and part-owner) is a Canadian icon. I’m not sure if Don Cherry frequents this particular bar and restaurant, or any of the Don Cherry’s sprawled across the country, but he may be a bit disappointed by it. The food is stale, the service is mediocre, and the atmosphere has really withered down and given way to hipper, newer and more innovative pubs around the Byward market over the years. While it remains to be a decent place to go on a saturday night during Hockey Night in Canada as they have various Don Cherry trivia and prize giveaways, for the most part, the energy and buzz is missing here. Perhaps its because of what it use to be 10 – 15 years ago, when it was one of the hot-spots in the Ottawa area, or maybe its because we expect excellence when it is under the Don Cherry name. Regardless, you will most assuredly walk out of Don Cherry’s expecting more.
