The FRIES! OMGTHEFRIES!!! Ooooo lordy the fries!!! Uhm… ya, ok. as a side to my fries, I got gravy(vegan) and a Stacker and it was a good small beef burger with minimal toppings which kept the buns from getting soggy. It was the perfect size for me! Cooked perfectly. My friend got the vegan burger(flat deep-fried falafel soft patty) the falafel taste was real good, unfortunately the problem was that it was super drippy greasy. We were thinking maybe they could bake them or something? Or at least blot the patty to soak up the drippy grease. Next time, both of us are ordering the veggie pogo(not vegan)! Sounds so good. I rarely go to fast food places, and so it was fun to sit in old school mcD’s style booths and chowdown on junk food. We were happily full for hours. Good times!

Finally had a chance to try this place and was looking forward to it. Sadly, my expectations were higher then food quality here. Terrible food and highly over priced. Salty burger, soggy fries and $ 35 for two combos. Do yourself a favor, if you have had this place on a burger bucket list or want a quick lunch just skip it. Plenty of better budget minded places nearby.

I ate in a couple weeks ago and the restaurant was not that clean– most tables had crumbs in them. No one was cleaning even though it was empty on the Saturday night we visited. I did mention I was eating my food there and was still given my food in a paper bag, I guess since moving they no longer use trays? I had the skinny kitty«vegiie pogo» combo. Was going to upgrade to sweet potato fries, until I was told they do not make their own and they are a frozen kind. The regular fries are made there and fresh. The food was good, but this place is a bit far for me. I will be back when the weather gets better.

Hintonburger does traditional burger-stand food nicely. I went with a group of 5 people and we each had a combo meal. The food is a bit pricey considering the presentation and type. I wish they had more exotic burger toppings like homemade sauces and relishes. My expectations were met. The meat and buns were fresh. The fries were crispy and delicious.

I love the idea of Hintonburger: fresh, local, handmade. The first time I had it, I found the BBQ sauce on the Hintonburger incredibly tasty, smoky and flavorful. The fresh cut fries were crispy, delicious and never ending(it was like reaching into a bottomless pit of fries). It left me with an incredible love for this local burger joint. However, the quality over the years declined. In a few years, a burger and fries combo that was $ 8.75 has now sky rocketed to $ 15.50. Has that much time passed since I last had a Hintonburger?! If you want the burger itself, it’s only a mere $ 12. The price alone is a huge shocker, especially since the burger selection is still limited to four types(it’s not like there’s a gourmet selection). I had a bite, and not only did the price escalate, the quality of the burger decreased significantly. The meat patties were dry, the bbq sauce didn’t have a big kick, and the fries were desperately lacking some salt. The biggest disappointment was how dry and flavorless the beef patty was. It didn’t seem burnt or overcharred, but it was lacking that juiciness and moistness that a good burger deserves. Hintonburger, where did your flavour go?!

I came back 12 months after giving this place my personal award of «Ottawa’s Best Burger» …but something has changed… in a drastic way. My wife described the striking resemblance to Harvey’s quality… though Harvey’s never gave her the intense indigestion that set in 45 minutes after the«Stirling Stacker» was consumed. At $ 45 for three burgers, 2 drinks and fries– this place is a definite pass. I don’t know what has changed– but its a huge disappointment.

It’s rare for me to feel ripped off at a restaurant but after my last trip to hintonburger I sure did. My wife and I stopped by the hitonburger for lunch. We had a couple of Armstrong combos, one with bacon, the other a poutine. It came to roughly $ 35! There was a family with a few kids sitting at the picnic table beside us and we heard the father say something along the lines of «this was over 70 dollars» to the wife. Her responding along the lines of «wow, that’s a lot of money», as he set down their food. I guess we weren’t the only ones that felt ripped off. I had an armstrong with bacon and pickles, the burger was ok. A pretty sad little bun, but the meat tasted pretty good. The crispy bacon was also cooked well and had a good taste. The pickles we’re plentiful and complimented the burger well. I hadn’t been to the hitonburger in awhile so I’m not sure if the burgers are any worse but I remembered them being much better, I wouldn’t even give this a top 5 in Ottawa anymore, definitely not worth the inflated price. The french fries were horrendous, barely edible. A clumped together soggy mess. A poor excuse for french fries if you catch my drift. My wife said the poutine was equally crappy, terrible fries likely the culprit. The pop was canned, hard to mess that up. They carry Pepsi products. Overall this was a pretty poor experience and I’ll likely never go back. Their burgers are nowhere near the best in the city so there’s really no reason to put up with their inflated prices. I was going to give this three stars as I really would have given 2.5, but the fries being so terrible made me round down. If you’re in the area it might be worth a look, but if you’re looking for a good burger at a reasonable price you can do a lot better.

Very good burgers, but i feel the place is getting pricier especially for what is essentially a take out place…

The burger meat is lean and cooked to the legal temperature, resulting in a deadly combination of a burger patty low on flavour. The further insult is the high price-about ten dollars. In spite of the hype, these burgers are vastly inferior to those of Burgers and Fries forever, 101’s Grill, and even the James St Pub. Such a disappointment. The fries are fresh cut, but it doesn’t matter because they are mediocre. Has a small amount of seating inside and picnic tables outside for the warmer weather.

Only reason this place stayed afloat is location — brutal interior, 7 $ burgers that are tiny, 20 mins for the food. May also be successful for the slick name? I don’t get why hipsters buy into places like this… only in yuptown is this a reality.

Quality seems to be slipping and the prices keep going up. Hintonburger + small onion rings + small shake = $ 22!!! That’s a lot for a burger in what is basically a fast food restaurant. It wasn’t that long ago that a combo was $ 9, now the Hintonburger is $ 12 alone. It’s still a great burger but not sure it’s the best in Ottawa anymore for the price.

Glad to hear they have a DEBIT machine now. I find the wait times are still long. I still waited long for poutine. And a drink even though there were only three ppl ahead of me.

I had heard of Hintonburger when it opened and had it in my list for a long time. I finally tried it. Sorry, nothing special. The burgers are relatively small and nothing interesting about them. The fries were not hot and a bit greasy. Drive a but further and got to the Works if you want s burger.

I love Hintonburger! I have only been twice so far but I would love to come back whenever I’m in the area. The food is traditional burger joint food. Be forewarned: the food is a tad bit heavy; although, what else would you really expect? The sweet potato fries are exceptionally yummy. The corndogs are too. Mmmmmm… now I’m hungry again!

I had my first Hintonburger burger yesterday. I ordered the Armstrong with cheese(4oz beef patty). I had all the dressings: tomato, lettuce, onions, hot peppers, mayo, ketchup and mustard. I thoroughly enjoyed it: the patty was juicy and nicely grilled and darkened on the outside. The bun was the right size too: not too thick and not too thin, just enough to hold it all together and absorb some of the juices. I thought the fries were good but not my favourite. I am not sure about the outside texture. They seem coated. I will definitely be back for the burger.

It’s pretty tough to screw up beef, cheese and bacon as far as I’m concerned so you can imagine my mystification after we stopped in here this glorious long weekend past. I ordered a hintonburger with fries and my favourite: Dr. Pepper. For a place that has a whole concept going based on their burger, you’d think it’d be pretty phenomenal, right? My burger was super average. — the meat had that overly processed Costco look to it and tasted so-so. Toppings were NOT plentiful and BBQ sauce was meh. Just nothing special about the taste of this burger, simple as that and I’d go so far as to say, the average stadium/food truck burger has more going for it. This is a pretty cute little setup and Hintonburger retained a bit of cache in my opinion based their outside picnic tables and retro/hipster interior. I like that H isn’t trying to be fancy, but if you’re going to be a one trick pony, your trick better impress!

Alright, so I didn’t actually have a Hintonburger itself, but a chicken fingers combo. Not cheap, but somewhat moderately priced. The fingers came out a bit overcooked, and the fries were nothing to rave about. Had a bite of my hubby’s burger(the Hintonburger) and found it a touch on the salty side. Its a bit cramped on the inside. Not a lot of seating. And it’s a bit humid in there as I don’t think they have A/C. Parking lot is a bit small. The worst part was the wait. Do not go in there starving, be prepared to wait about 15 minutes. I feel like given all the hype about this place, I was expecting more. Points for being in an awesome neighbourhood, though.

There are so many restaurants in Ottawa that I now go to with the explicit purpose of «cheating» on my vegetarianism that I guess it’s no longer relevant for me to mention whether their veg selection is up to snuff or not. Hintonburger does have a veggie burger, but I had to go for the original hintonburger for an authentic hintonburger experience. I’m so glad that I did! While the burger is pretty expensive — $ 10.50 without fries — it is soooo very yummy and worth every penny. I can’t think of better hangover food. What do pancakes and eggs have on a juicy, full-of-flavour, super-filling burger? At first I was regretting not getting the fries, but my belly would have been hanging over my zipper had I eaten any more. I like that they have a bunch of picnic tables outside for sunny summer days.

checking out La Poutine week in Ottawa and decided to check Hintonburger Duckconfee Poutine. So far the milkshake is ok. Had it. The Poutine was ok, gravy was subtle, and cheez and fries standard. The duck Confee is the main reason it stands out. 6 out of 10

I’ve been to Hintonburger twice and both times was treated to a very tasty burger. The hype isn’t over nothing. The namesake burger is a smoky bacon cheeseburger with a great crust on the patty that makes it amazing to bite into. The burgers are formed from local beef and made to order. They also order chicken burgers, veggie burgers(in the form of a falafel patty with falafel toppings, which I think is neat) and hot dogs, along with sides. These are not Works-style gourmet burgers(which, as another reviewer notes, are sort of a waste in a city that won’t let you cook them below well done), but very tasty fast food-style burgers. A few tips for first timers: It’s cash only, so come prepared. You will wait at least 10 – 15 minutes for a burger, which you will have to pick up from a counter — they will not bring it to your table. When your order comes it will be given to you in a brown paper bag — condiments are on the counter where the orders come out — if you want to salt/vinegar your fries, put some sriracha on your burger or whatever, disassemble the brown paper bag to do this before you go to sit down. Finally, I’d recommend Hintonburger on a nice day because a meal on the picnic tables outside beats the very ex-KFC interior, where there were problems with the sound system(resulting in ambient static in lieu of music) on one of my visits.
