Holiday Inn Express & Suites Ottawa West – Nepean

Love. This is my family’s go-​to stay spot in Ottawa. Mainly because we have family in this side of the city. We’ve been staying here for a number of years, and only recently discovered the Sixth floor — soo quiet. Nobody’s above us (hotel only reaches 6 levels), and rumour has it that this floor has fewer rooms (i.e. larger than average rooms).
Breakfast is included. Good assortment. For various ages, too. We stayed here as a family and nobody left hungry. Pancakes, toast, English muffins, muffins, yogurts, fresh fruit: bananas, apples, oranges, hot oatmeal, choice of cereals (Raisin Bran; Special K with berries; Fruit Loops; Corn Flakes).
Bonus — free 24 hour access to unlimited coffee; tea; hot chocolate. Extra treats — chips, chocolate, other drinks, are sold at the small shop close to the front desk on the main level.
Mattresses were firm and comfortable. We’re in the market for a new mattress, so I asked which kind we slept on. Was informed they just got some new ones, and that they were of the Simmons brand. Lovely.
We have little ones in the family, and appreciate that HIE stocks actual cribs (not just playpens). Makes a difference when babies can sleep on an actual mattress, in a room with blackout blinds!
New, clean, quiet building.
Has a pool and hot tub. Free wifi.
Our room had a sofa bed, microwave, small fridge, ‘kitchenette’ sink, large screen t.v.
Hospitality was consistently nice, friendly. Everyone was there to help.
Parking lot was large, mostly full.
Cost was about $ 160 a night — compare prices for HIE online, and look into their advance purchase or 3 night minimum rates.

The good:
— clean and quiet
— IHG status recognition + upgrade
— close to ethnic restaurants (see Carling)
— decent gym
The bad:
— a couple of days they had a herd of special need parents filling up every squared inch

Great place to stay. Reasonably priced. Staff was friendly and helpful. Pool area is clean. Rooms were clean. A+

This is the cleanest, most updated Holiday Inn I’ve ever been to! The room was very spacious, comfortable, it didn’t smell like a foot, everything was new and they offer fast internet! If you’re a business traveler you definitely will be pleased.
They offer the typical hot breakfast which is just meh… anyway they still get 4-​stars!

Found this to be the nicest HIE ever! Think it was newly opened when we stayed. Everything was perfect!
