Passing by «Baytown» recently on our way back home, we figured out that we wouldn’t be there in time to buy some oysters for dinner… so a quick look on Unilocal enabled us to find this Fish Market. At first, it was a bit unclear as there is a near-by location of «Lapointe Fish» that is really a restaurant but we finally found this one with is a fish market. The choice is not as wide as we use to in «La Mer» in Montréal and we found that prices for oysters were a bit higher. That said, they had a fair choice of fresh ones and we were happy with the results. They were not very helpful in helping us choosing(recommending the obvious choices) and were not encline to let us try it first. A good place for fish and seafood if you are around but not the best that we had.

Great variety of seafood available, the store smelled disgusting though, could use a better ventilation system

They have a pretty good selection of fresh fish and seafood at this Lapointe market, and it smells like it too. Some of the seafood isn’t covered by glass or anything, so it is exposed. For everyone that is sensitive or isn’t used to the fresh fish smell, you might want to consider waiting outside if you’re accompanying someone, or you can always just decide to grin and bear it. Personally, the smell doesn’t bother me. Since there is so much ice to keep the seafood fresh, the floors are often wet, so watch your step! I came here to buy sushi-grade salmon because I had such a craving for sashimi and I didn’t feel like going to a restaurant. The prices aren’t too bad, and I found it to be a fairly good deal for my salmon at the time. The fish was fresh and was of good quality, and it really hit the spot!
