Great food, home made everything, and warm, friendly staff. Saw this place by accident while driving by on Fisher and decided to check it out. Have had a really good chile relleno(red pepper stuffed with cheese or beef), a very tasty papas huancaina(boiled potatoes covered with a creamy sauce made with Peruvian yellow peppers, fresh cheese and black mint, garnished with hard boiled egg and black olives), jalea de pescado y calamar(thinly breaded and fried basa fish and squid, served with salad and garlic rice), dipping sauces including tomatillo(made with spicy green peppers), a delicious ceviche(fish cooked by being marinated in lime juice, Spanish red onions and peppers, served with large kernel corn, sweet camote potato and Peruvian-style corn nuts), and a sweet treat with torta de tres leches. They even have Inca Kola(regular and diet) which is Peru’s answer to Coca Cola, as well as bottled Chicha Morada(purple corn beverage). The empanadas looked great but that would have to wait another day!

A little more expensive than the other Mexican places that are popping up all over like Chipotle, and it takes a little longer to get served but what an amazing experience. Food tastes amazing and a fine selection from many different countries. The store is beautiful and the staff treats you like family. I was sad when Do Rienzi’s moved out but this place is way better. Do yourself a favour and give it a try

Please take the time to visit this wonderful place. If you are missing some homegrown food like abuela made then this is Ottawa’s answer. Simple in its décor but the food is beyond delicious. The empanadas Chilenas are just like back home, all sauces(salsa) perfectly balanced. We were a bit piggish and enjoyed the Bandejas Paisa(Colombia), Pabellon(Venezuela) and Choclo(Chile). Outstanding and feels like all the abuelas from each country are back there cooking. Heidi and John are the husband and wife team that run the place, very gracious and accommodating. Typical Latino style service, laid back but extremely caring. Nothing bad to say about this place and looking forward to going back for some more. Heidi y John muchísima gracias por su generosidad. Volveré pronto!

I was curious about this restaurant and decided to just stop in one night to grab some empanadas to go and get a initial feel of the place and their food. Well I was so sorry that I only had time to pop in and grab something to go! The woman that greeted me was excited to learn it was my first time coming in and proudly presented me with all kinds of little tastes of some of their offerings. She even fixed me a quick plate of the sausage and rice that her and the staff had made for themselves for their dinner, I was sooooo impressed with the flavours. Tasty tasty tasty and so friendly, she made it really feel like you were going to your family’s house for dinner. I came back a week later to sit down and have a meal, I let the man who was working that day recommend the meal for my partner and I. The chef in that night was Peruvian so he fixed us his specialties and my lord we were not disappointed! I had the fish and calamari with the crispiest and most flavourful breading and my partner had the lomos saltado(a steak stir fry type dish) that was so tender and tasty, cooked to perfection. The staff explained to me that their chefs cook their country’s specialties and there are 7 I believe so every night is a different menu depending on which chefs are on that night. Apparently there is occasional saturdays when they have almost all chefs in at once, I need to keep an eye on their facebook page to find out when the next time that happens will be.

This place is amazing! The chefs are so friendly and nice! They had no soup available because the warmer season was starting, but the chef made me a fresh sopa de pollo! Their food is amazing! If you want to taste authentic Latin American food, this is the place to go!

First time here. Had the Ceviche and Jalea. Always good to see a new restaurant in Ottawa. From their website: «At Latin Bistro we offer a taste of unique/traditional Latin food from Central and South America that we now proudly serve to you, your family, and friends.» They mean it plan on spending extra time just conversing with the staff. Every Saturday a different chef with prepare the menu which will specialize in home cooked food from their country. Again from their website: «Come in and try our home made traditional latin taste — from Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, Mexico, Salvador, Peru, Guatemala and an atmosphere to match.»
